اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ

ashhadu an la ilaha illa allahu wahdahu la sharika lahu

I bear witness that there is no god save Allah, alone without having any associate,

وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُوْلُهُ

wa ashhadu anna muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluhu

and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger,

وَ اَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْاٰخِرِيْنَ

wa annahu sayyidu al-awwalina wal-akhirina

that he is the chief of the ancient and the coming generations,

وَ اَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الْاَنْبِيَاۤءِ وَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

wa annahu sayyidu al-anbya'i walmursalina

and that he is the chief of all Prophets and Messengers.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلٰۤى اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الْاَئِمَّةِ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ۔

allahumma salli `alayhi wa `ala ahli baytihi al-a'immati alttayyibina

O Allah, send blessings upon him and upon his Household—the Immaculate Imams.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya rasula allahi

Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَلِيْلَ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya khalila allahi

Peace be upon you, O Friend of Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya nabiyya allahi

Peace be upon you, O Prophet of Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفِيَّ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya safiyya allahi

Peace be upon you, O Choice of Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَحْمَةَ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya rahmata allahi

Peace be upon you, O Mercy of Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya khiyarata allahi

Peace be upon you, O Well-Chosen by Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيْبَ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya habiba allahi

Peace be upon you, O Most Beloved by Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَجِيْبَ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya najiba allahi

Peace be upon you, O Selected by Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ

as-salamu `alayka ya khatama alnnabiyyina

Peace be upon you, O Seal of the Prophets.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَيِّدَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

as-salamu `alayka ya sayyida almursalina

Peace be upon you, O Master of the Messengers.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا قَاۤئِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ

as-salamu `alayka ya qa'iman bilqisti

Peace be upon you, O Maintainer of justice.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا فَاتِحَ الْخَيْرِ

as-salamu `alayka ya fatiha alkhayri

Peace be upon you, O introducer of goodliness.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَعْدِنَ الْوَحْيِ وَ التَّنْزِيْلِ

as-salamu `alayka ya ma`dina alwahyi walttanzili

Peace be upon you, O core of Divine Inspiration and Revelation.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُبَلِّغًا عَنِ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya muballighan `ani allahi

Peace be upon you, O conveyor on behalf of Allah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا السِّرَاجُ الْمُنِيْرُ

as-salamu `alayka ayyuha alssiraju almuniru

Peace be upon you, O light-giving torch.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُبَشِّرُ

as-salamu `alayka ya mubashshiru

Peace be upon you, O conveyor of good tidings (to the believers).

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَذِيْرُ

as-salamu `alayka ya nadhiru

Peace be upon you, O warner (against Allah’s chastisement).

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُنْذِرُ

as-salamu `alayka ya mundhiru

Peace be upon you, O he who warns (against violating Allah’s commands).

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُوْرَ اللّٰهِ الَّذِيْ يُسْتَضَاۤءُ بِهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya nura allahi alladhi yustada'u bihi

Peace be upon you, O Allah’s Light that spreads luminosity.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰۤى اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

as-salamu `alayka wa `ala ahli baytika alttayyibina alttahirina

Peace be upon you and upon your Household—the pure, immaculate,

الْهَادِيْنَ الْمَهْدِيِّيْنَ

alhadina almahdiyyina

guides, and rightly guided.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰى جَدِّكَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ

as-salamu `alayka wa `ala jaddika `abdi almuttalibi

Peace be upon you and upon your grandfather, `Abd al-Muttalib,

وَ عَلٰۤى اَبِيْكَ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ

wa `ala abika `abdi allahi

and upon your father, `Abdullah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰۤى اُمِّكَ اٰمِنَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ

as-salamu `ala ummika aminata binti wahabin

peace be upon your mother, ªminah the daughter of Wahab.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى عَمِّكَ حَمْزَةَ سَيِّدِ الشُّهَدَاۤءِ

as-salamu `ala `ammika hamzata sayyidi alshshuhada'i

Peace be upon your (paternal) uncle, Hamzah, the master of martyrs.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى عَمِّكَ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ

as-salamu `ala `ammika al`abbasi bni `abdi almuttalibi

Peace be upon your uncle, al-`Abbas the son of `Abd al-Muttalib.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى عَمِّكَ وَ كَفِيْلِكَ اَبِيْ طَالِبٍ

as-salamu `ala `ammika wa kafilika abi talibin

Peace be upon your uncle and your guardian, Abu-Talib.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَمِّكَ جَعْفَرٍ ۟اِلطَّيَّارِ فِيْ جِنَانِ الْخُلْدِ

as-salamu `ala ibni `ammika ja`farin alttayyari fi jinani alkhuldi

Peace be upon your cousin, Ja`far the flying in the gardens of the Paradise of Eternity.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ

as-salamu `alayka ya muhammadu

Peace be upon you, O Muhammad (the praised).

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَاۤ اَحْمَدُ

as-salamu `alayka ya ahmadu

Peace be upon you, O Ahmad (the more praised).

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَى الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْاٰخِرِيْنَ

as-salamu `alayka ya hujjata allahi `ala al-awwalina wal-akhirina

Peace be upon you, O Argument of Allah against the past and coming generations,

وَ السَّابِقَ اِلٰى طَاعَةِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

walssabiqa ila ta`ati rabbi al`alamina

foremost to the obedience to the Lord of the worlds,

وَ الْمُهَيْمِنَ عَلٰى رُسُلِهِ

walmuhaymina `ala rusulihi

prevailing over His Messengers,

وَ الْخَاتِمَ لِاَنْبِيَاۤئِهِ

walkhatima li'anbiya'ihi

last of His Prophets,

وَ الشَّاهِدَ عَلٰى خَلْقِهِ

walshshahida `ala khalqihi

witness over all His creatures,

وَ الشَّفِيْعَ اِلَيْهِ

walshshafi`a ilayhi

interceder to Him,

وَ الْمَكِيْنَ لَدَيْهِ

walmakina ladayhi

firmly established with Him,

وَ الْمُطَاعَ فِيْ مَلَكُوْتِهِ

walmuta`a fi malakutihi

obeyed in His Kingdom,

وَ الْمُطَاعَ فِيْ مَلَكُوْتِهِ

al-ahmada min al-awsafi

winner of the most praised qualities,

الْمُحَمَّدَ لِسَاۤئِرِ الْاَشْرَافِ

almuhammada lisa'iri al-ashrafi

holder of the most praised honors,

الْكَرِيْمَ عِنْدَ الرَّبِّ

alkarima `inda alrrabbi

honored by the Lord,

وَ الْمُكَلَّمَ مِنْ وَرَاۤءِ الْحُجُبِ

walmukallama min wara'i alhujubi

addressee (by Almighty Allah) from behind the (Divine) Veils,

الْفَاۤئِزَ بِالسِّبَاقِ

alfa'iza bilssibaqi

most advanced in position,

وَ الْفَاۤئِتَ عَنِ اللِّحَاقِ

walfa'ita `an allihaqi

and unovertakable.

تَسْلِيْمَ عَارِفٍ بِحَقِّكَ

taslima `arifin bihaqqika

I greet you with the greeting of him who acknowledges your right (that is incumbent upon us),

مُعْتَرِفٍ بِالتَّقْصِيْرِ فِيْ قِيَامِهِ بِوَاجِبِكَ

mu`tarifin bilttaqsiri fi qiyamihi biwajibika

who confesses of his shortcoming in carrying out his duty towards you,

غَيْرِ مُنْكِرٍ مَا انْتَهٰىۤ اِلَيْهِ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

ghayri munkirin ma intaha ilayhi min fadlika

who does not discuss your limitless virtues,

مُوْقِنٍ بِالْمَزِيْدَاتِ مِنْ رَبِّكَ

muqinin bilmazidati min rabbika

who is sure that you will have more rewards from your Lord,

مُؤْمِنٍ بِالْكِتَابِ الْمُنْزَلِ عَلَيْكَ

mu'minin bilkitabi almunzali `alayka

who believes in the Book that was revealed to you,

مُحَلِّلٍ حَلَالَكَ

muhallilin halalaka

who deems lawful all that which you deemed lawful,

مُحَرِّمٍ حَرَامَكَ

muharrimin haramaka

and who deems unlawful all that which you deemed unlawful.

اَشْهَدُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ مَعَ كُلِّ شَاهِدٍ

ashhadu ya rasula allahi ma`a kulli shahidin

O Messenger of Allah, I bear witness—and I join everyone who bears witness

وَ اَتَحَمَّلُهَا عَنْ كُلِّ جَاحِدٍ

wa atahammaluha `an kulli jahidin

and also bear witness rather than everyone who may deny it—

اَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّكَ

annaka qad ballaghta risalati rabbika

that you conveyed the messages of your Lord (flawlessly),

وَ نَصَحْتَ لِاُمَّتِكَ

wa nasahta li'ummatika

offered your nation good advice,

وَ جَاهَدْتَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ رَبِّكَ

wa jahadta fi sabili rabbika

strove in the way of your Lord,

وَ صَدَعْتَ بِاَمْرِهِ

wa sada`ta bi'amrihi

expounded openly what you were commanded to convey,

وَ احْتَمَلْتَ الْاَذٰى فِيْ جَنْبِهِ

wahtamalta al-adha fi janbihi

stood harm for the sake of Him,

وَ دَعَوْتَ اِلٰى سَبِيْلِهِ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ الْجَمِيْلَةِ

wa da`awta ila sabilihi bilhikmati walmaw`izati alhasanati aljamilati

called to the way of Him with excellent wisdom and fair exhortation,

وَ اَدَّيْتَ الْحَقَّ الَّذِيْ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ

wa addayta alhaqqa alladhi kana `alayka

fulfilled the duty with which you were commissioned,

وَ اَنَّكَ قَدْ رَؤُفْتَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

wa annaka qad ra'ufta bilmu'minina

you, verily, were compassionate to the believers,

وَ غَلُظْتَ عَلَى الْكَافِرِيْنَ

wa ghaluzta `ala alkafirina

strong against the unbelievers,

وَ عَبَدْتَ اللّٰهَ مُخْلِصًا حَتّٰىۤ اَتَاكَ الْيَقِيْنُ

wa `abadta allaha mukhlisan hatta ataka alyaqinu

and you worshipped Allah sincerely until death came upon you.

فَبَلَغَ اللّٰهُ بِكَ اَشْرَفَ مَحَلِّ الْمُكَرَّمِيْنَ

fabalagha allahu bika ashrafa mahalli almukarramina

Therefore, Almighty Allah has exalted you to the most honorable position of the ennobled ones,

وَ اَعْلٰى مَنَازِلِ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

wa a`la manazili almuqarrabina

to the most elevated place of the intimate servants of Him,

وَ اَرْفَعَ دَرَجَاتِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ حَيْثُ لَا يَلْحَقُكَ لَاحِقٌ

wa arfa`a darajati almursalina haythu la yalhaquka lahiqun

and to the most exalted ranks of the Messengers where none can come up with you,

وَ لَا يَفُوْقُكَ فَاۤئِقٌ

wa la yafuquka fa'iqun

none can excel you,

وَ لَا يَسْبِقُكَ سَابِقٌ

wa la yasbiquka sabiqun

none can overtake you,

وَ لَا يَطْمَعُ فِيْۤ اِدْرَاكِكَ طَامِعٌ

wa la yatma`u fi idrakika tami`un

and none can even think of obtaining your rank.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ اسْتَنْقَذَنَا بِكَ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ

alhamdu lillahi alladhi istanqadhana bika min alhalakati

All praise be to Allah Who saved us from perdition through you,

وَ هَدَانَا بِكَ مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ

wa hadana bika min alddalalati

Who guided us off misdirection through you,

وَ نَوَّرَنَا بِكَ مِنَ الظُّلْمَةِ

wa nawwarana bika min alzzulumati

and Who lit our darkness through you.

فَجَزَاكَ اللّٰهُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ مَبْعُوْثٍ اَفْضَلَ مَا جَازَى نَبِيًّا عَنْ اُمَّتِهِ

fajazaka allahu ya rasula allahi min mab`uthin afdala ma jaza nabiyyan `an ummatihi

O Messenger of Allah, may Allah reward you, for you are His envoy, with the best rewarding that He has ever conferred upon a prophet on behalf of his people

وَ رَسُوْلًا عَمَّنْ اُرْسِلَ اِلَيْهِ

wa rasulan `amman ursila ilayhi

or a messenger on behalf of those to whom He has sent him.

بِاَبِيْۤ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّيْ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ زُرْتُكَ عَارِفًا بِحَقِّكَ

bi'abi anta wa ummi ya rasula allahi zurtuka `arifan bihaqqika

May Allah accept my father and my mother as ransoms for you, O Messenger of Allah. I am visiting you for I acknowledge your right (that is incumbent upon us),

مُقِرًّا بِفَضْلِكَ

muqirran bifadlika

I confess of your superiority,

مُسْتَبْصِرًا بِضَلَالَةِ مَنْ خَالَفَكَ وَ خَالَفَ اَهْلَ بَيْتِكَ

mustabsiran bidalalati man khalafaka wa khalafa ahla baytika

I know for sure about the straying off (from the right path) of those who dissent from you and from your Household,

عَارِفًا بِالْهُدَى الَّذِيْۤ اَنْتَ عَلَيْهِ

`arifan bilhuda alladhi anta `alayhi

and I admit the true guidance that you follow (and lead to).

بِاَبِيْۤ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّيْ وَ نَفْسِيْ وَ اَهْلِيْ وَ مَالِيْ وَ وَلَدِيْۤ

bi'abi anta wa ummi wa nafsi wa ahli wa mali wa waladi

May Allah accept my father, my mother, me, my family, my property, and my sons as ransoms for you!

اَنَا اُصَلِّيْ عَلَيْكَ كَمَا صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ

ana usalli `alayka kama salla allahu `alayka

Let me invoke Almighty Allah’s blessings upon you in the same way as Allah did send blessings upon you

وَ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ مَلَاۤئِكَتُهُ وَ اَنْبِيَاؤُهُ وَ رُسُلُهُ

wa salla `alayka mala'ikatuhu wa anbiya'uhu wa rusuluhu

and so did His angels, Prophets, and Messengers;

صَلَاةً مُتَتَابِعَةً وَافِرَةً مُتَوَاصِلَةً

salatan mutatabi`atan wafiratan mutawasilatan

such blessings that are consecutive, abundant,

لَا انْقِطَاعَ لَهَا وَ لَاۤ اَمَدَ وَ لَاۤ اَجَلَ

la inqita`a laha wa la amada wa la ajala

continuous, incessant, infinite, and unlimited.

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰۤى اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ كَمَاۤ اَنْتُمْ اَهْلُهُ۔

salla allahu `alayka wa `ala ahli baytika alttayyibina alttahirina kama antum ahluhu

May Allah send blessings upon you and upon your Household, the pure and immaculate, as much as you deserve.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ جَوَامِعَ صَلَوَاتِكَ

allahumma ij`al jawami`a salawatika

O Allah, (please do) make You complete blessings,

وَ نَوَامِيَ بَرَكَاتِكَ

wa nawamiya barakatika

Your perfect benedictions,

وَ فَوَاضِلَ خَيْرَاتِكَ

wa fawadila khayratika

Your most virtuous boons,

وَ شَرَاۤئِفَ تَحِيَّاتِكَ وَ تَسْلِيْمَاتِكَ

wa shara'ifa tahiyyatika wa taslimatika

and Your most honorable greetings, salutations,

وَ كَرَامَاتِكَ وَ رَحَمَاتِكَ

wa karamatika wa rahamatika

dignities, and mercy,

وَ صَلَوَاتِ مَلَاۤئِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

wa salawati mala'ikatika almuqarrabina

as well as the blessings of Your archangels,

وَ اَنْبِيَاۤئِكَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

wa anbiya'ika almursalina

your commissioned Prophets,

وَ اَئِمَّتِكَ الْمُنْتَجَبِيْنَ

wa a'immatika almuntajabina

Your elite Imams,

وَ عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ

wa `ibadika alssalihina

Your righteous servants,

وَ اَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْاَرَضِيْنَ

wa ahli alssamawati wal-aradina

the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth,

وَ مَنْ سَبَّحَ لَكَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

wa man sabbaha laka ya rabba al`alamina

and (the blessings of) everyone who glorified You, O Lord of the worlds,

مِنَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْاٰخِرِيْنَ

mina al-awwalina wal-akhirina

from the past and the coming generations—

عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُوْلِكَ

`ala muhammadin `abdika wa rasulika

make all these pour forth upon Muhammad; Your servant, Your messenger,

وَ شَاهِدِكَ وَ نَبِيِّكَ

wa shahidika wa nabiyyika

Your witness, Your Prophet,

وَ نَذِيْرِكَ وَ اَمِيْنِكَ

wa nadhirika wa aminika

Your warner, Your trustee,

وَ مَكِيْنِكَ وَ نَجِيِّكَ

wa makinika wa najiyyika

Your firmly established (in truth), Your confidante,

وَ نَجِيْبِكَ وَ حَبِيْبِكَ

wa najibika wa habibika

Your elite, Your most beloved,

وَ خَلِيْلِكَ وَ صَفِيِّكَ

wa khalilika wa safiyyika

Your friend, Your choice,

وَ صَفْوَتِكَ وَ خَآصَّتِكَ

wa safwatika wa khassatika

Your notable, Your elect,

وَ خَالِصَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ

wa khalisatika wa rahmatika

Your well-chosen, Your mercy,

وَ خَيْرِ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa khayri khiyaratika min khalqika

the best of Your created beings,

نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ

nabiyyi alrrahmati

the Prophet of mercy,

وَ خَازِنِ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

wa khazini almaghfirati

the storer of forgiveness,

وَ قَاۤئِدِ الْخَيْرِ وَ الْبَرَكَةِ

wa qa'idi alkhayri walbarakati

the leader to goodliness and blessing,

وَ مُنْقِذِ الْعِبَادِ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ بِاِذْنِكَ

wa munqidhi al`ibadi mina alhalakati bi'idhnika

the savior of the servants (of Almighty Allah) from perdition by Your permission,

وَ دَاعِيْهِمْ اِلٰى دِيْنِكَ

wa da`ihim ila dinika

the caller of them to Your religion,

الْقَيِّمِ بِاَمْرِكَ

alqayyimi bi'amrika

the custodian by Your order,

اَوَّلِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ مِيْثَاقًا

awwali alnnabiyyina mithaqan

the first Prophet to make the covenant,

وَ اٰخِرِهِمْ مَبْعَثًا

wa akhirihim mab`athan

and the last Prophet to be sent (to humanity),

۟اِلَّذِيْ غَمَسْتَهُ فِيْ بَحْرِ الْفَضِيْلَةِ

alladhi ghamastahu fi bahri alfadilati

whom You have immersed in the ocean of virtue,

وَ الْمَنْزِلَةِ الْجَلِيْلَةِ

walmanzilati aljalilati

in the lofty rank,

وَ الدَّرَجَةِ الرَّفِيْعَةِ

walddarajati alrrafi`ati

in the elevated level,

وَ الْمَرْتَبَةِ الْخَطِيْرَةِ

walmartabati alkhatirati

and in the exalted position;

وَ اَوْدَعْتَهُ الْاَصْلَابَ الطَّاهِرَةَ

wa awda`tahu al-aslaba alttahirata

and whom You entrusted in the pure loins

وَ نَقَلْتَهُ مِنْهَاۤ اِلَى الْاَرْحَامِ الْمُطَهَّرَةِ

wa naqaltahu minha ila al-arhami almutahharati

and moved to the immaculate wombs

لُطْفًا مِنْكَ لَهُ

lutfan minka lahu

out of Your kindness to him

وَ تَحَنُّنًا مِنْكَ عَلَيْهِ

wa tahannnan minka `alayhi

and Your compassion to him.

اِذْ وَكَّلْتَ لِصَوْنِهِ وَ حَرَاسَتِهِ

idh wakkalta lisawnihi wa hirasatihi

In order to safeguard, to shield,

وَ حِفْظِهِ وَ حِيَاطَتِهِ

wa hifzihi wa hiyatatihi

to protect, and to defend him,

مِنْ قُدْرَتِكَ عَيْنًا عَاصِمَةً

min qudratika `aynan `asimatan

You assigned, out of Your omnipotence, a protective lookout over him

مَدَانِسَ حَجَبْتَ بِهَا عَنْهُ مَدَانِسَ الْعَهْرِ

hajabta biha `anhu madanisa al`ahri

to keep him from the impurities of adultery

وَ مَعَاۤئِبَ السِّفَاحِ

wa ma`a'iba alssifahi

and from the defects of fornication;

حَتّٰى رَفَعْتَ بِهِ نَوَاظِرَ الْعِبَادِ

hatta rafa`ta bihi nawazira al`ibadi

thus, You raised the sights of the servants through him

وَ اَحْيَيْتَ بِهِ مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ

wa ahyayta bihi mayta albiladi

and revived the derelict lands

بِاَنْ كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نُوْرِ وِلَادَتِهِ ظُلَمَ الْاَسْتَارِ

bi'an kashafta `an nuri wiladatihi zulama al-astari

when You removed the screening murk by the light of his birth

وَ اَلْبَسْتَ حَرَمَكَ بِهِ حُلَلَ الْاَنْوَارِ

wa albasta haramaka bihi hulala al-anwari

and dressed Your Holy Precinct the garments of brightness through him.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَكَمَا خَصَصْتَهُ بِشَرَفِ هٰذِهِ الْمَرْتَبَةِ الْكَرِيْمَةِ

allahumma fakama khasastahu bishrafi hadhihi almartabati alkarimati

O Allah, as You have given him exclusively the honor of this noble rank

وَ ذُخْرِ هٰذِهِ الْمَنْقَبَةِ الْعَظِيْمَةِ

wa dhukhri hadhihi almanqabati al`azimati

and the privilege of this great merit,

صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ كَمَا وَفٰى بِعَهْدِكَ

salli `alayhi kama wafa bi`ahdika

(please do) bless him for he fulfilled his covenant to You,

وَ بَلَّغَ رِسَالَاتِكَ

wa ballagha risalatika

conveyed all Your messages,

وَ قَاتَلَ اَهْلَ الْجُحُوْدِ عَلٰى تَوْحِيْدِكَ

wa qatala ahla aljuhudi `ala tawhidika

fought against the infidels in order to prove Your Oneness,

وَ قَطَعَ رَحِمَ الْكُفْرِ فِيْۤ اِعْزَازِ دِيْنِكَ

wa qata`a rahima alkufri fi i`zazi dinika

exterminated the womb of atheism in order to strengthen Your religion,

وَ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَ الْبَلْوٰى فِيْ مُجَاهَدَةِ اَعْدَاۤئِكَ

wa labisa thawba albalwa fi mujahadati a`da'ika

and dressed himself the garb of misfortune in order to struggle against Your enemies.

وَ اَوْجَبْتَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ اَذًى مَسَّهُ

wa awjabta lahu bikulli adhan massahu

Hence, You have given him as recompense for any harm that inflicted him,

اَوْ كَيْدٍ اَحَسَّ بِهِ

aw kaydin ahassa bihi

any trickery that he faced

مِنَ الْفِئَةِ الَّتِيْ حَاوَلَتْ قَتْلَهُ

min alfi'ati allati hawalat qatlahu

from the faction who tried to assassinate him;

فَضِيْلَةً تَفُوْقُ الْفَضَاۤئِلَ

fadilatan tafuqu alfada'ila

a merit that excels all other merits

وَ يَمْلِكُ بِهَا الْجَزِيْلَ مِنْ نَوَالِكَ

wa yamliku biha aljazila min nawalika

and due to which he possessed Your abundant gifts.

وَ قَدْ اَسَرَّ الْحَسْرَةَ

wa qad asarra alhasrata

In return, he hid his sadness,

وَ اَخْفَى الزَّفْرَةَ

wa akhfa alzzafrata

concealed his grief,

وَ تَجَرَّعَ الْغُصَّةَ

wa tajarr`a alghussata

swallowed the pang,

وَ لَمْ يَتَخَطَّ مَا مَثَّلَ لَهُ وَحْيُكَ

wa lam yatakhatta ma maththala lahu wahyuka

and never did he violate the instructions of Your Revelation.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلٰۤى اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ صَلٰوةً تَرْضَاهَا لَهُمْ

allahumma salli `alayhi wa `ala ahli baytihi salatan tardaha lahum

O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon him and his Household—blessings that You please for them,

وَ بَلِّغْهُمْ مِنَّا تَحِيَّةً كَثِيْرَةً وَ سَلَامًا

wa balligh-hum minna tahiyyatan kathiratan wa salaman

and convey our abundant greetings and compliments to him,

وَ اٰتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فِيْ مُوَالَاتِهِمْ فَضْلًا وَ اِحْسَانًا

wa atina min ladunka fi muwalatihim fadlan wa ihsanan

and give us - from You on account of our loyalty to them - favors, kindness,

وَ رَحْمَةً وَ غُفْرَانًا

wa rahmatan wa ghufranan

mercy, and forgiveness.

اِنَّكَ ذُوْ الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيْمِ

innaka dhulfadli al`azimi

Verily, You are the Lord of great favor.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّكَ قُلْتَ لِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma innaka qulta linabiyyika muhammadin

O Allah, You have said to Your Prophet Muhammad—

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

may Allah bless him and his Household:

وَ لَوْ اَنَّهُمْ اِذْ ظَلَمُوْا اَنْفُسَهُمْ

walaw annahum idh zalamu anfusahum

“And had they, when they were unjust to themselves,

جَاۤءُوْكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوْا اللّٰهَ

ja'uka fastaghfaru allaha

come to you and asked forgiveness of Allah

وَ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُوْلُ

wastaghfara lahumu alrrasulu

and the Messenger had (also) asked forgiveness for them,

لَوَجَدُوْا اللّٰهَ تَوَّابًا رَحِيْمًا

lawajadu allaha tawwaban rahiman

they would have found Allah Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.”

وَ لَمْ اَحْضُرْ زَمَانَ رَسُوْلِكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ السَّلَامُ

wa lam ahdur zamana rasulika `alayhi wa alihi as-salamu

I was not present at the age of Your Messenger—peace be upon him and his Household.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ قَدْ زُرْتُهُ رَاغِبًا تَاۤئِبًا مِنْ سَيِّئِ عَمَلِيْ

allahumma wa qad zurtuhu raghiban ta'iban min sayyi'i `amali

O Allah, I have visited him desiring, repenting from my ill deeds,

وَ مُسْتَغْفِرًا لَكَ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِيْ

wa mustaghfiran laka min dhunubi

imploring forgiveness of my sins,

وَ مُقِرًّا لَكَ بِهَا وَ اَنْتَ اَعْلَمُ بِهَا مِنِّيْ

wa muqirran laka biha wa anta a`lamu biha minni

confessing of my having committed these sins although You know them more than I do,

وَ مُتَوَجِّهًا اِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ

wa mutawajjihan ilayka binabiyyika nabiyyi alrrahmati

and turning my face towards You in the name of Your Prophet, the Prophet of Mercy—

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salawatuka `alayhi wa alihi

may Your blessings be upon him and his Household.

فَاجْعَلْنِيْ اللّٰهُمَّ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ عِنْدَكَ وَجِيْهًا

faj`alni allahumma bimuhammadin wa ahli baytihi `indaka wajihan

O Allah, in the name of Muhammad and his Household, (please do) make me illustrious

فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْاٰخِرَةِ وَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

fi alddunya wal-akhirati wa min almuqarrabina

in this world as well as the Next World and one of those brought near to You.

يَا مُحَمَّدُ

ya muhammadu

O Muhammad!

يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ

ya rasula allahi

O Messenger of Allah!

بِاَبِيْۤ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّيْ

bi'abi anta wa ummi

May Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms for you!

يَا نَبِيَّ اللّٰهِ

ya nabiyya allahi

O Prophet of Allah!

يَا سَيِّدَ خَلْقِ اللّٰهِ

ya sayyida khalqi allahi

O chief of all created beings of Allah!

اِنِّيْۤ اَتَوَجَّهُ بِكَ اِلَى اللّٰهِ رَبِّكَ وَ رَبِّيْ

inni atawajjahu bika ila allahi rabbika wa rabbi

In Your name do I turn my face towards Allah, my and your Lord,

لِيَغْفِرَ لِيْ ذُنُوْبِيْ

liyaghfira li dhunubi

so that He may forgive my sins,

وَ يَتَقَبَّلَ مِنِّيْ عَمَلِيْ

wa yataqabbala minni `amali

accept my deeds,

وَ يَقْضِيَ لِيْ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ

wa yaqdiya li hawa'iji

and settle my requests.

فَكُنْ لِيْ شَفِيْعًا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ وَ رَبِّيْ

fakun li shafi`an `inda rabbika wa rabbi

Therefore, be my interceder before your and my Lord,

فَنِعْمَ الْمَسْئُوْلُ الْمَوْلٰى رَبِّيْ

fani`ma almas'ulu almawla rabbi

for my Lord, the Master, is the best besought

وَ نِعْمَ الشَّفِيْعُ اَنْتَ

wa ni`ma alshshafi`u anta

and You are the best interceder.

يَا مُحَمَّدُ

ya muhammadu

O Muhammad!

عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰۤى اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ السَّلَامُ

`alayka wa `ala ahli baytika as-salamu

May peace be upon you and upon your Household.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ اَوْجِبْ لِيْ مِنْكَ الْمَغْفِرَةَ وَ الرَّحْمَةَ

allahumma wa awjib li minka almaghfirata walrrahmata

O Allah, (please do) confer upon me with forgiveness, mercy,

وَ الرِّزْقَ الْوَاسِعَ الطَّيِّبَ النَّافِعَ

walrrizqa alwasi`a alttayyiba alnnafi`a

and sustenance that is outgoing, good, and beneficial from Your Presence

كَمَاۤ اَوْجَبْتَ لِمَنْ اَتٰى نَبِيَّكَ مُحَمَّدًا

kama awjabta liman ata nabiyyaka muhammadan

in the same way as You conferred upon him who came to Your Prophet, Muhammad, when he was alive,

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salawatuka `alayhi wa alihi

may your blessings be upon him and his Household,

وَ هُوَ حَيٌّ فَاَقَرَّ لَهُ بِذُنُوْبِهِ

wa huwa hayyun fa'aqarra lahu bidhunubihi

and confessed of his sins.

وَ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ رَسُوْلُكَ

wastaghfara lahu rasuluka

Thus, Your Messenger prayed You to forgive him.

عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ السَّلَامُ

`alayhi wa alihi as-salamu

May your blessings be upon him and his Household.

فَغَفَرْتَ لَهُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

faghafarta lahu birahmatika ya arhama alrrahimina

And You did forgive him out of Your mercy, O most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ قَدْ اَمَّلْتُكَ وَ رَجَوْتُكَ

allahumma wa qad ammaltuka wa rajawtuka

O Allah, I now put my hope in You, please You,

وَ قُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

wa qumtu bayna yadayka

stand before You,

وَ رَغِبْتُ اِلَيْكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

wa raghibtu ilayka `amman siwaka

desire for You other than anyone else,

وَ قَدْ اَمَّلْتُ جَزِيْلَ ثَوَابِكَ

wa qad ammaltu jazila thawabika

and hope for Your abundant reward

وَ اِنِّيْ لَمُقِرٌّ غَيْرُ مُنْكِرٍ

wa inni lamuqirrun ghayru munkirin

while I confess of my sins and I do not deny them,

وَ تَاۤئِبٌ اِلَيْكَ مِمَّا اقْتَرَفْتُ

wa ta'ibun ilayka mimma iqtaraftu

I repent to You from whatever I have committed,

وَ عَاۤئِذٌ بِكَ فِيْ هٰذَا الْمَقَامِ

wa `a'idhun bika fi hadha almaqami

and I seek refuge with You from this position

مِمَّا قَدَّمْتُ مِنَ الْاَعْمَالِ

mimma qaddamtu min al-a`mali

against the deeds that I have committed

الَّتِيْ تَقَدَّمْتَ اِلَيَّ فِيْهَا، وَ نَهَيْتَنِيْ عَنْهَا

allati taqaddamta ilayya fiha wa nahaytani `anha

although You, firstly, had introduced them to me as prohibited, warned me against committing them,

وَ اَوْعَدْتَ عَلَيْهَا الْعِقَابَ

wa aw`adta `alayha al`iqaba

and threatened me with Your punishment if I would violate.

وَ اَعُوْذُ بِكَرَمِ وَجْهِكَ

wa a`udhu bikarami wajhika

And I seek shelter with the nobility of Your Face

اَنْ تُقِيْمَنِيْ مَقَامَ الْخِزْيِ وَ الذُّلِّ

an tuqimani maqama alkhizyi waldhdhulli

lest You impose upon me the situation of disgrace and humility

يَوْمَ تُهْتَكُ فِيْهِ الْاَسْتَارُ

yawma tuhtaku fihi al-astaru

on the day when the veils will be exposed,

وَ تَبْدُوْ فِيْهِ الْاَسْرَارُ وَ الْفَضَاۤئِحُ

wa tabdu fihi al-asraru walfada'ihu

the secrets and scandals will be disclosed,

وَ تَرْعَدُ فِيْهِ الْفَرَاۤئِصُ

wa tar`adu fihi alfara'isu

and the muscles will writhe with fear;

يَوْمَ الْحَسْرَةِ وَ النَّدَامَةِ

yawma alhasrati walnnadamati

on the day of regret and remorse,

يَوْمَ الْاٰفِكَةِ

yawma al-afikati

the day of exposing the liars,

يَوْمَ الْاٰزِفَةِ

yawma al-azifati

the day of the approaching doom,

يَوْمَ التَّغَابُنِ

yawma alttaghabuni

the day of assembling,

يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ

yawma alfasli

the day of separation,

يَوْمَ الْجَزَاۤءِ

yawma aljaza'i

the day of punishment,

يَوْمًا كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِيْنَ اَلْفَ سَنَةٍ

yawman kana miqdaruhu khamsina alfa sanatin

the day the measure of which is fifty thousand years,

يَوْمَ النَّفْخَةِ

yawma alnnafkhati

the day of the blowing,

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ

yawma tarjufu alrrajifatu

the day on which the quaking land shall quake

تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ

tatba`uha alrradifatu

followed by oft-repeated commotions,

يَوْمَ النَّشْرِ

yawma alnnashri

the day of raising the dead,

يَوْمَ الْعَرْضِ

yawma al`ardi

the day of exposition before the Fire,

يَوْمَ يَقُوْمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

yawma yaqumu alnnasu lirabbi al`alamina

the day when all mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds,

يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ اَخِيْهِ

yawma yafirru almar'u min akhihi

the day when a man flees from his brother,

وَ اُمِّهِ وَ اَبِيْهِ

wa ummihi wa abihi

his mother, his father,

وَ صَاحِبَتِهِ وَ بَنِيْهِ

wa sahibatihi wa banihi

his wife, and his children,

يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ الْاَرْضُ وَ اَكْنَافُ السَّمَاۤءِ

yawma tashaqqaqu al-ardu wa aknafu alssama'i

the day when the earth and the sides of the heavens will split asunder,

يَوْمَ تَأْتِيْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ تُجَادِلُ عَنْ نَفْسِهَا

yawma ta'ti kullu nafsin tujadilu `an nafsiha

the day when every soul will come pleading for itself,

يَوْمَ يُرَدُّوْنَ اِلَى اللّٰهِ فَيُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوْا

yawma yuradduna ila allahi fayunabbi'uhum bima `amilu

the day when they will be relegated to Allah Who will inform them of what they did,

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِيْ مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا

yawma la yughni mawlan `an mawlan shay'an

the day when a friend can in naught avail his friend

وَ لَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُوْنَ،

wa la hum yunsaruna

nor can they be helped

اِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللّٰهُ

illa man rahima allahu

save him on whom Allah will have mercy.

اِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الرَّحِيْمُ

innahi huwa al`azizu alrrahimu

Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful,

يَوْمَ يُرَدُّوْنَ اِلٰى عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ

yawma yuradduna ila `alimi alghaybi walshshahadati

the day when they will be returned to the Knower of the invisible and the visible,

يَوْمَ يُرَدُّوْنَ اِلَى اللّٰهِ مَوْلَاهُمُ الْحَقِّ

yawma yuradduna ila allahi mawlahumu alhaqqi

the day when they will be restored to Allah, their Lord, the Just,

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُوْنَ مِنَ الْاَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا

yawma yakhrujuna min al-ajdathi sira`an

the day when they come forth from the graves in haste,

كَاَنَّهُمْ اِلٰى نُصُبٍ يُوْفِضُوْنَ

ka'annahum ila nusubin yufiduna

as racing to a goal

وَ كَاَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُنْتَشِرٌ

wa ka'annahum jaradun muntashirun

and as locusts spreading abroad,

مُهْطِعِيْنَ اِلَى الدَّاعِ

muhti`ina ila aldda`i

hastening toward the Summoner—

اِلَى اللّٰهِ

ila allahi

to Allah,

يَوْمَ الْوَاقِعَةِ

yawma alwaqi`ati

the day of the event inevitable

يَوْمَ تُرَجُّ الْاَرْضُ رَجًّا

yawma turajju al-ardu rajjan

when the earth will be shaken with a shock,

يَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ السَّمَاۤءُ كَالْمُهْلِ

yawma takunu alssama'u kalmuhli

the day when the sky will become as molten copper

وَ تَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ

wa takunu aljibalu kal`ihni

and the hills become as flakes of wool

وَ لَا يُسْاَلُ حَمِيْمٌ حَمِيْمًا

wa la yas'alu hamimun hamiman

and no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend,

يَوْمَ الشَّاهِدِ وَ الْمَشْهُوْدِ

yawma alshshahidi walmash-hudi

the day of the witness and that whereunto he bears testimony,

يَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ الْمَلَاۤئِكَةُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

yawma takunu almala'ikatu saffan saffan

and they day when the angels will come rank on rank.

اَللّٰهُمَّ ارْحَمْ مَوْقِفِيْ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ بِمَوْقِفِيْ فِيْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ

allahumma irham mawqifi fi dhalika alyawmi bimawqifi fi hadha alyawmi

O Allah, (please do) have mercy upon my situation on that day (when I will be stopped for interrogation) for my current situation,

وَ لَا تُخْزِنِيْ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ الْمَوْقِفِ بِمَا جَنَيْتُ عَلٰى نَفْسِيْ

wa la tukhzini fi dhalika almawqifi bima janaytu `ala nafsi

and do not confound me at that situation for the wrongdoings that I have committed against myself.

وَ اجْعَلْ يَا رَبِّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ مَعَ اَوْلِيَاۤئِكَ مُنْطَلَقِيْ

waj`al ya rabbi fi dhalika alyawmi ma`a awliya'ika muntalaqi

O my Lord, (please do) group me, on that day, with Your intimate servants,

وَ فِيْ زُمْرَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ مَحْشَرِيْ

wa fi zumrati muhammadin wa ahli baytihi `alayhimu as-salamu mahshari

include me with the company of Muhammad and his Household—peace be upon them—

وَ اجْعَلْ حَوْضَهُ مَوْرِدِيْ

waj`al hawdahu mawridi

make the Pond of him (i.e. the Holy Prophet) to be my arrival point,

وَ فِي الْغُرِّ الْكِرَامِ مَصْدَرِيْ

wa fi alghurri alkirami masdari

make me a place among the honorable, white-forehead group,

وَ اَعْطِنِيْ كِتَابِيْ بِيَمِيْنِيْ

wa a`tini kitabi biyamini

and give me my Record (of deeds) in my right hand

حَتّٰىۤ اَفُوْزَ بِحَسَنَاتِيْ

hatta afuza bihasanati

so that I will succeed due to my rewards,

وَ تُبَيِّضَ بِهِ وَجْهِيْ

wa tubayyida bihi wajhi

You will make my face white,

وَ تُيَسِّرَ بِهِ حِسَابِيْ

wa tuyassira bihi hisabi

You will make easy for me my reckoning,

وَ تُرَجِّحَ بِهِ مِيْزَانِيْ

wa turajjiha bihi mizani

You will make my pan of the Scale (of deeds) outweigh,

وَ اَمْضِيَ مَعَ الْفَاۤئِزِيْنَ

wa amdiya ma`a alfa'izina

and I will join the triumphant ones

مِنْ عِ
