My Lord! I am indeed in need of any good You may send down to me!
Rabbi innee limaaa anzalta ilaiya min khairin faqeer.
(Surah Al-Qasas (28), Verse 24)
Fearing persecution, Hazrat Musa (AS) crossed the borders of Pharaoh's kingdom and reached Madyan. He was extremely tired. After walking and running for hours in worry and distress, he stopped to rest near a well. Evening had fallen. Hazrat Musa (AS) drank water and sat near the well. He noticed some shepherds watering their animals. A little distance away, two young girls were standing quietly with their sheep, holding them back. When he asked, he came to know that their father was very old, which is why these girls had to bring the animals for water themselves. They had to wait there until all the other shepherds finished watering their livestock first.
Hearing this, Hazrat Musa (AS) drew water himself and gave it to their animals. Then, he recited the above prayer.
The girls returned home after watering their animals. Their father, Hazrat Shuaib (AS), a prophet, asked,
"My daughters, why have you returned so early today?"
They replied, "Father, today a young traveler watered our animals for us."
Hazrat Shuaib (AS) said, "You should have invited him home. Go and call him." One of the girls went back and said to Musa (AS), "Come, my father is calling you." Hazrat Musa (AS) went with her. On the way, the wind was blowing, and the girl's scarf fluttered as she walked ahead. Hazrat Musa (AS) told her, "Walk behind me and guide me."
When Hazrat Musa (AS) met Hazrat Shuaib (AS), he informed him about his troubles and the oppression of Pharaoh. Hazrat Shuaib (AS) reassured him, "Do not worry. Pharaoh has no authority over this land."
Later, Hazrat Shuaib (AS) married one of his daughters to Hazrat Musa (AS) on the condition that he serve by tending sheep for 10 years. He also gave him some land to cultivate.
When Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) narrated this incident, a companion asked, "O Maula, which daughter was married to Hazrat Musa (AS)?" He replied, "The one who went to call him."
The above prayer from the Holy Quran is very effective. Whether for fulfilling needs or in similar situations, it should be recited without fail. Insha'Allah, your work will be successful.
