اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ أَمَامِي وَ عَلِيٍّ مِنْ خَلْفِي وَ عَنْ يَمِينِي وَ أَئِمَّتِي عَنْ يَسَارِي أَسْتَتِرُ بِهِمْ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ وَ أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى لَا أَجِدُ أَحَداً أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ فَهُمْ أَئِمَّتِي فَآمِنْ بِهِمْ خَوْفِي مِنْ عِقَابِكَ وَ سَخَطِكَ وَ أَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
O‟ my God! I turn to You by Muhammad (as) in my front, Ali (as) on my back and my right side, the Divine Leaders on my left side, and I hide myself from Your Punishment by them. I seek nearness to You. I find no one closer to You than them. They are my leaders, so please secure my fear of Your Wrath and Punishment by them and with Your Mercy include me amongst Your Servants in the ranks of the righteous.
1.This dua is to be said after the Fajr /morning prayer of the Festival day
أَصْبَحْتُ بِاللَّهِ مُؤْمِناً [مُوقِناً] مُخْلِصاً عَلَى دِينِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سُنَّتِهِ وَ عَلَى دِينِ عَلِيٍّ وَ سُنَّتِهِ وَ عَلَى دِينِ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ وَ سُنَّتِهِمْ آمَنْتُ بِسِرِّهِمْ وَ عَلَانِيَتِهِمْ وَ أَرْغَبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فِيمَا
I made it to the morning believing in God and sincerely devoted to Muhammad‟s (as) religion and his traditions; to Ali‟s (as) religion and his traditions; to the religion of the Trustees (as) and their traditions. I believe in their secrets and what they made public.
رَغِبَ فِيهِ إِلَيْهِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَ عَلِيٌّ وَ الْأَوْصِيَاءُ وَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا اسْتَعَاذُوا مِنْهُ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ وَ لَا عِزَّةَ وَ لَا مَنَعَةَ وَ لَا سُلْطَانَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ الْعَزِيزِ الْجَبَّارِ الْمُتَكَبِّرِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَ مَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بالِغُ أَمْرِهِ
I desire from God the Sublime what Muhammad, Ali and the Trustees desired. There is no Change or Power except with God – Exalted in Might, the Irresistible. I rely upon God. God suffices for whoever relies upon Him and God shall take care of his affairs.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُرِيدُكَ فَأَرِدْنِي وَ أَطْلُبُ مَا عِنْدَكَ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِي وَ اقْضِ لِي حَوَائِجِي فَإِنَّكَ قُلْتَ فِي كِتَابِكَ وَ قَوْلُكَ الْحَقُ شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدىً لِلنَّاسِ وَ بَيِّناتٍ مِنَ الْهُدى وَ الْفُرْقانِ
O‟ my God! I desire You so please desire me and I demand what You have so please make it easy for me. Please fulfill my needs as verily You said the following in Your Book and indeed whatever you say is right, “Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur‟an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong)…”
فَعَظَّمْتَ حُرْمَةَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ بِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَ خَصَصْتَهُ وَ عَظَّمْتَهُ بِتَصْيِيرِكَ فِيهِ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَقُلْتَ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَ الرُّوحُ فِيها بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ سَلامٌ هِيَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ
You honored the sanctity of Ramadhan by sending down the Qur‟an during it and exalted it and made it unique with the Night of Destiny. You made it better than a thousand months. You said, “The Night of Destiny is better than a Thousand months. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah‟s permission, on every errand: Peace!...This until the rise of morn!
اللَّهُمَّ وَ هَذِهِ أَيَّامُ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ قَدِ انْقَضَتْ وَ لَيَالِيهِ قَدْ تَصَرَّمَتْ وَ قَدْ صِرْتُ مِنْهُ يَا إِلَهِي إِلَى مَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي وَ أَحْصَى لِعَدَدِهِ [بِعَدَدِهِ] مِنْ عَدَدِي فَأَسْأَلُكَ
my God!These were the days of the month of Ramadhan that have ended and its nights that have passed. And You know better than me where I have reached and You count better than I do.
يَا إِلَهِي بِمَا سَأَلَكَ بِهِ عِبَادُكَ الصَّالِحُونَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَنْ تَتَقَبَّلَ [تَقْبَلَ] مِنِّي كُلَّمَا [مَا] تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ وَ تَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيَّ بِتَضْعِيفِ عَمَلِي وَ قَبُولِ تَقَرُّبِي وَ قُرُبَاتِي وَ اسْتِجَابَةِ دُعَائِي وَ هَبْ لِي مِنْكَ عِتْقَ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَ مُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالْفَوْزِ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَ الْأَمْنِ يَوْمَ الْخَوْفِ مِنْ كُلِّ فَزَعٍ وَ مِنْ كُلِّ هَوْلٍ أَعْدَدْتَهُ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
O‟ my God! I ask You what Your Servants in the ranks of the righteous ask You for. I ask You to bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and accept from me what I tried to do to get closer to You and favor me even though my deeds are weak, accept my attempts to seek nearness to You and my deeds, and fulfill my supplications. And please save me from the Fire out of Your Bestowals! And honor me with salvation and shelter in Paradise and security on the Day of Fear from all horrors and troubles that You have prepared for the Resurrection Day.
أَعُوذُ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ وَ بِحُرْمَةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَ حُرْمَةِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِمَ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ وَ لَكَ قِبَلِي تَبِعَةٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُؤَاخِذَنِي بِهَا أَوْ ذَنْبٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِهِ وَ تُشْقِيَنِي وَ تَفْضَحَنِي بِهِ أَوْ خَطِيئَةٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِهَا وَ تَقْتَصَّهَا مِنِّي لَمْ تَغْفِرْهَا لِي وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ الْفَعَّالِ لِمَا يُرِيدُ الَّذِي يَقُولُ لِلشَّيْءِ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ
I take refuge in the sacredness of Your Noble Face, in the sacredness of Your Prophet (as), the sacredness of the righteous people, to let this day pass and let things be left that You have not forgiven and You want to question me about, or any sins with which You want to judge me, or disgrace me or humiliate me or offenses that You want to judge me with. And I ask You by the honor of Your Noble Face that You do as You Will and to whatever You want to create You say “be” and it is. There is no god but You.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ إِنْ كُنْتَ رَضِيتَ عَنِّي فِي هَذَا الشَّهْرِ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمُرِي رِضًا فَإِنْ [وَ إِنْ] كُنْتَ لَمْ تَرْضَ عَنِّي فِي هَذَا الشَّهْرِ فَمِنَ الْآنَ فَارْضَ عَنِّي السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ وَ اجْعَلْنِي فِي هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَ فِي هَذَا الْمَجْلِسِ مِنْ عُتَقَائِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَ طُلَقَائِكَ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ وَ سُعَدَاءِ خَلْقِكَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
O‟ my God! I ask You by “There is no God but You” that if You are pleased with me in this month to increase Your Level of being pleased with me during the rest of my lifetime. And if You are not pleased with me in this month, become pleased with me at this very hour. Please let me be at this very hour, and in this meeting amongst those freed from the Fire, saved from Hell, and of Your prosperous creatures by Your Forgiveness and Mercy. O‟ the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ شَهْرِي هَذَا خَيْرَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانٍ عَبَدْتُكَ فِيهِ وَ صُمْتُهُ لَكَ وَ تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ مُنْذُ أَسْكَنْتَنِي فِيهِ أَعْظَمَهُ أَجْراً وَ أَتَمَّهُ نِعْمَةً وَ أَعَمَّهُ عَافِيَةً وَ أَوْسَعَهُ رِزْقاً وَ أَفْضَلَهُ عِتْقَا مِنَ النَّارِ وَ أَوْجَبَهُ رَحْمَةً وَ أَعْظَمَهُ مَغْفِرَةً وَ أَكْمَلَهُ رِضْوَاناً وَ أَقْرَبَهُ إِلَى مَا تُحِبُّ وَ تَرْضَى
O‟ my God! I ask You by the honor of Your Noble Face to let this month be the best month of Ramadhan in which I worshipped You, and fasted for You, sought nearness to You since You let me reside in this world. Please let it be the month with the greatest reward, the most perfect blessings, the best well-being, the most extended sustenance, the best release from the Hell-fire, the most received Mercy, the greatest forgiveness, the most perfect pleasure, and the closest to what You like.
اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانٍ صُمْتُهُ لَكَ وَ ارْزُقْنِي الْعَوْدَ ثُمَّ الْعَوْدَ حَتَّى تَرْضَى وَ بَعْدَ الرِّضَا وَ حَتَّى تُخْرِجَنِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِماً وَ أَنْتَ عَنِّي رَاضٍ وَ أَنَا لَكَ مَرْضِيٌّ
O‟ my God! Please do not let this be the last month of Ramadhan I fast for You.O‟ God! Please bless me with its return over and over so as to please You, and even after attaining Your Pleasure by taking me out of this world in perfect health, with You pleased with me and me pleased with You.
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَ تُقَدِّرُ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ الْمَحْتُومِ الَّذِي لَا يُرَدُّ وَ لَا يُبَدَّلُ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ تُثِيبُ [تنبت] وَ تُسَمِّي وَ تَقْضِي لَهُ وَ تَزِيدُ وَ تُحِبُّ لَهُ وَ تَرْضَى وَ أَنْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ فِي هَذَا الْعَامِ وَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ الْمَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمُ الْمَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمُ الْمَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمُ الْمُتَقَبَّلِ عَنْهُمْ مَنَاسِكُهُمُ الْمُعَافَيْنَ [المعانين] عَلَى أَسْفَارِهِمُ الْمُقْبِلِينَ عَلَى نُسُكِهِمُ الْمَحْفُوظِينَ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَ ذَرَارِيهِمْ وَ كُلِّ مَا أَنْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ
O‟ my God! And in what You decide and destine for me that do not change I ask you in this year and every year to write my name on the list of those pilgrims to Your Sacred House whose pilgrimage receives Your Approval, whose endeavors are appreciated, whose sins are forgiven, whose rituals are accepted, who are safe in their trips, who have turned to the performance of their deeds, and whose selves, property, family and all that You have bestowed upon them are protected.
اللَّهُمَّ اقْلِبْنِي مِنْ مَجْلِسِي هَذَا فِي شَهْرِي هَذَا فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا فِي سَاعَتِي هَذِهِ مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجَاباً لِي مَغْفُوراً ذَنْبِي مُعَافاً مِنَ النَّارِ وَ مُعْتَقاً مِنْهَا عِتْقاً لَا رِقَّ بَعْدَهُ أَبَداً وَ لَا رَهْبَةَ يَا رَبَّ الْأَرْبَابِ
O‟ my God! Please send me back from this session, this month, this day and this hour prosperous, successful with my supplications fulfilled, with my sins forgiven, and saved from the Fire. released from Hell, such a release that I will never be captured there. O‟ Lord of the lords!
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ فِيمَا شِئْتَ وَ أَرَدْتَ وَ قَضَيْتَ وَ قَدَّرْتَ وَ حَتَمْتَ وَ أَنْفَذْتَ أَنْ تُطِيلَ عُمُرِي وَ أَنْ تَنْسَأَنِي فِي أَجَلِي وَ أَنْ تُقَوِّيَ ضَعْفِي وَ أَنْ تُغْنِيَ فَقْرِي وَ أَنْ تَجْبُرَ فَاقَتِي وَ أَنْ تَرْحَمَ مَسْكَنَتِي وَ أَنْ تُعِزَّ ذُلِّي وَ أَنْ تَرْفَعَ ضَعَتِي وَ أَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَائِلَتِي وَ أَنْ تُؤْنِسَ وَحْشَتِي وَ أَنْ تُكْثِرَ قِلَّتِي وَ أَنْ تُدِرَّ رِزْقِي فِي عَافِيَةٍ وَ يُسْرٍ وَ خَفْضٍ وَ أَنْ تَكْفِيَنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي مِنْ أَمْرِ دُنْيَايَ وَ آخِرَتِي
O‟ my God! I ask You to in what You will and decide, destine and decree, make certain and put into effect to elongate my life, procrastinate my death, alleviate my weakness, change my poverty into wealthiness, compensate for my poverty, have mercy on my helplessness, change my debasement into honor, change my lowliness to sublimity, provide wealth for my family, turn my fear into peace, increase my little, provide my sustenance in well-being, ease and calm and please take care of my affairs regarding my worldly affairs and the affairs of the Hereafter.
وَ لَا تَكِلَنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي فَأَعْجِزَ عَنْهَا وَ لَا إِلَى النَّاسِ فَيَرْفُضُونِي وَ أَنْ تُعَافِيَنِي فِي دِينِي وَ بَدَنِي وَ جَسَدِي وَ رُوحِي وَ وُلْدِي وَ أَهْلِي وَ أَهْلِ مَوَدَّتِي وَ إِخْوَانِي وَ جِيرَانِي مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ الْأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَ الْأَمْوَاتِ وَ أَنْ تَمُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالْأَمْنِ وَ الْإِيمَانِ مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي فَإِنَّكَ وَلِيِّي وَ مَوْلَايَ وَ ثِقَتِي وَ رَجَائِي وَ مَعْدِنُ مَسْأَلَتِي وَ مَوْضِعُ شَكْوَايَ وَ مُنْتَهَى رَغْبَتِي فَلَا تُخَيِّبْنِي فِي رَجَائِي
Please do not leave me to myself as I am unable to manage it and do not leave me to the people as they shall deny me. Please grant good faith, good physical and spiritual health to me and my children, wife, friends, brethren and my close company of the believing men and women, the Muslim men and women whether dead or alive. And favor me by granting me security and faith for as long as I live as indeed You are my Guardian and my Master, my trust and my hope, the treasures for my needs. O‟ He who settles my complaints and my ultimate wish! Then please do not disappoint me of my hopes,
يَا سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلَايَ وَ لَا تُبْطِلْ طَمَعِي وَ رَجَائِي فَقَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ قَدَّمْتُهُمْ إِلَيْكَ أَمَامِي وَ أَمَامَ حَاجَتِي وَ طَلِبَتِي وَ تَضَرُّعِي وَ مَسْأَلَتِي وَ اجْعَلْنِي [فَاجْعَلْنِي] بِهِمْ وَجِيهاً فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ فَإِنَّكَ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِمْ [بِهِمْ] فَاخْتِمْ لِي بِهِمُ السَّعَادَةَ [بِالسَّعَادَةِ] إِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ زِيَادَةٌ فِيهِ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِهِمْ فَاخْتِمْ لِي بِالسَّعَادَةِ وَ الْأَمْنِ وَ السَّلَامَةِ وَ الْإِيمَانِ وَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَ الرِّضْوَانِ وَ السَّعَادَةِ وَ الْحِفْظِ
O‟ my Master! My Guardian! Please do not disappoint me of hope and greed. I turned to You by Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and I presented them ahead of my demands, my submissiveness and my begging. Please let me be honorable in this world and the Hereafter and from those who are close to You as indeed You have favored me by me knowing them. Make me prosperous by them as indeed You have power over all things.”Additions: “You favored me with them. Then please let me end with prosperity and security, well-being and faith, forgiveness and Your Pleasure, Prosperity and Protection.
يَا اللَّهُ أَنْتَ لِكُلِّ حَاجَةٍ لَنَا فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ عَافِنَا وَ لَا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنَا أَحَداً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَ اكْفِنَا كُلَّ أَمْرٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ [أُمُورِ] الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ
O‟ God! You are in charge of all our needs! Please bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and grant us well-being and do not subject us to any of Your creatures whom we cannot tolerate. Please suffice us in all our worldly and afterlife affairs.
يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ تَرَحَّمْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سَلِّمْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَأَفْضَلِ مَا صَلَّيْتَ وَ بَارَكْتَ وَ رَحِمْتَ [وَ تَرَحَّمْتَ] وَ سَلَّمْتَ وَ تَحَنَّنْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.
O‟ Lord of Majesty, Bounty and Honor! O‟ my God! Please bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as), and bestow Your Mercy on Muhammad and his Progeny (as). Please bless Muhammad and his Progeny (as) with Your favors in the manner You bestowed Your Blessings on Abraham (as) and his Progeny (as) and blessed them with your Mercy and Your Favor as You are Prasieworthy, and Glorious!”
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْمُلُوكَ وَ الْأُمَرَاءَ قَدْ وَهَبُوا خِلَعاً لِمَمَالِيكِهِمْ وَ عَبِيدِهِمْ وَ جُنُودِهِمْ وَ لَوْ كَانَ الْمَمَالِيكُ مِنَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ
O‟ my God! The kings and the rulers have granted gifts to their servants, slaves and troops even if their servants are of the rich people.
2.In order to welcome the Festival day, you may address God as follows in order to attain His Benevolence:
وَ الْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ رَأْسُهُ مَكْشُوفٌ مِنْ عَمَائِمِ الْمُرَاقَبَةِ الَّتِي تَلِيقُ بِكُمْ وَ مِنْ مَيَازِرِ الْإِخْلَاصِ الَّتِي تَجِبُ لَكُمْ وَ مِنْ سِتْرِ [سَتْرِ] الْإِقْبَالِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ مِنَ الْخِلَعِ الَّتِي تَصْلُحُ لِلْحُضُورِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكُمْ وَ ثِيَابُ الْعَبْدِ الْمَمْلُوكِ خَلِقَةٌ بِيَدِ الْغَفَلَاتِ وَ دَنِسَةٌ مِنْ وَسَخِ الشَّهَوَاتِ وَ لِبَاسُ سَتْرِ عُيُوبِهِ مُمَزَّقٌ بِيَدِ إِيثَارِهِ
This servant of Yours lacks any turban of mediation or skirts of sincerity that You deserve for me to wear when I turn to you.I lack proper attire to come to Your Presence. The attire of Your servant is torn into pieces due to negligence, and polluted with lust. The attire to cover up his faults has been torn by his selfishness.
عَلَيْكُمْ وَ مِغْفَرُ غُفْرَانِ ذُنُوبِهِ مُكَسَّرٌ بِيَدِ تَهْوِينِهِ بِالاسْتِغْفَارِ الَّذِي يُقَرِّبُهُ إِلَيْكُمْ وَ عَوْرَاتُهُ مَكْشُوفَةٌ وَ عَثَرَاتُهُ مَخُوفَةٌ فَهُوَ مُتَهَتِّكٌ [مهتك] فِي هَذَا الْعِيدِ السَّعِيدِ بِسُوءِ مَلْبُوسِهِ وَ خَجْلَانٌ خِزْيَانٌ مِنْ ثِيَابِ نُحُوسِهِ
What could help forgive his sins has been destroyed by his belittling of asking for forgiveness that could make him closer to You. His private things are uncovered and his mischief is awesome.On this blessed Festival, his honor is threatened due to this torn attire, and he is ashamed for wearing the attire of wretchedness.
فَمَا أَنْتُمْ صَانِعُونَ بِمَمْلُوكٍ يَقُولُ لِسَانُ حَالِهِ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَ إِنَّا إِلَيْهِ راجِعُونَ
What will you do with your servants who say, "To God! We belong, and to Him is our return".
وَ أَنْتُمْ عَلَّمْتُمُ الْمَمْلُوكَ [الْمُلُوكَ] مَكَارِمَ الْأَخْلَاقِ وَ عَنْكُمْ وَ مِنْكُمْ عُرِفَ ابْتِدَاءُ الْخِلَعِ وَ إِطْلَاقُ الْأَعْنَاقِ وَ الْأَرْزَاقِ وَ قَدْ كَانَ الْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ لَمَّا ابْتَدَأْتُمْ
You taught the best etiquette to the kings, and the practice of bestowal of gifts, freeing slaves and providing sustenance started by You.
بِإِنْشَائِهِ عَرَفْتُمْ مَا يَقَعُ مِنْهُ مِنْ سُوءِ إِيَابِهِ [إِبَائِهِ] وَ وَ سِعَهُ حِلْمُكُمْ حَتَّى خَلَعْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ خِلَعَ الْبَقَاءِ وَ خِلَعَ سَلَامَةِ الْأَعْضَاءِ وَ خِلَعَ الشِّفَاءِ مِنَ الْأَدْوَاءِ وَ كَسَوْتُمُوهُ لَحْماً وَ جِلْداً وَ بَالَغْتُمْ مَعَهُ إِنْعَاماً وَ رِفْداً
You were well aware of his rebellion and bad disobedience since You created this servant. Your Forbearance was so vast as to bestow him the gifts of survival, physical health, treatment from various ailments, and cover him with flesh and skin and grant him many other gifts.
فَيَبْقَى الْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ عُرْيَاناً بِحَضْرَتِكُمْ [فبحضرتكم] فَمَنْ ذَا يَسْتُرُهُ وَ يَكْسُوهُ إِذَا رَآهُ وَ قَدْ ضَاقَتْ عَنْهُ سَعَةُ رَحْمَتِكُمْ
Who is going to cover up Your servant who is standing naked in front of You now and has been restrained of Your All-Embacing Mercy.
وَ مَنْ يَأْوِيهِ إِذَا نُودِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَيْ طَرِيدَ نَقِمَتِكُمْ فَيَا مَنْ خَلَعَ عَلَيْهِ وَ قَدْ عَرَفَ مَا يَنْتَهِي حَالُهُ إِلَيْهِ وَ رَبَّاهُ وَ غَذَّاهُ وَ آوَاهُ فَقَدْ
Who is going to house him if he is told, „O‟ one who has been pushed away for punishment!‟ Then O‟ He who bestowed him gifts, knew his ultimate conditions, nourished him, fed him, gave him shelter.
أَحَاطَ عِلْماً بِجُرْأَتِهِ عَلَيْهِ وَ مَا كَانَ قَدْ تَشَرَّفَ بِمَعْرِفَةِ مَوْلَاهُ وَ لَا ارْتَضَاهُ أَنْ يَخْدِمَهُ فِي دُنْيَاهُ ارْحَمْ اسْتِغَاثَتَهُ بِكَ وَ اسْتِكَانَتَهُ لَكَ وَ اسْتِجَارَتَهُ بِظِلِّكَ وَ وَسِيلَتَهُ بِفَضْلِكَ إِلَى عَدْلِكَ
Truly Your Knowledge encompassed his rudeness to You, his lack of recognition of his master, and his lack of being pleased with your servitude in this world. Then have mercy on his seeking help from You, his surrendering to You, his seeking sanctuary in Your Shade and his appealing to Your Nobility to benefit from Your Justice!
وَ اكْسُهُ مِنْ [مَعَ] خِلَعِ الْعَفْوِ وَ الْغُفْرَانِ وَ الْأَمَانِ وَ الرِّضْوَانِ مَا يَكُونُ ذِكْرُهَا وَ شُكْرُهَا وَ نَشْرُهَا مَنْسُوباً إِلَى مُجَرَّدِ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ جُودِكَ فَقَدِ انْكَسَرَ قَلْبُهُ وَ خَجِلَ وَ اسْتَحْيَا مِنْ وُقُوفِهِ عُرْيَاناً فِي يَوْمِ [يَ وْمَ] عِيدِكَ مَعَ كَثْرَةِ مَنْ خَلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ عَبِيدِكَ وَ وُفُودِكَ وَ مَا لَهُ بَابٌ غَيْرُ بَابِكَ وَ هُوَ عَاجِزٌ عَنْ عِتَابِكَ فَكَيْفَ يَقْوَى عَلَى حِرْمَانِكَ وَ عِقَابِكَ.
Please cover him with the gifts of Pardoning, Forgiveness, Security and Pleasure such that its remembrance, thankfulness and spreading be only ascribed to Your Mercy and Benevolence. His heart is broken and he is shy and ashamed of standing naked in front of You on the Festival day in spite of You having bestowed gifts to many of Your servants. There are no doors except Your door for him and he is not able to stand Your Blame! Then how could he stand Your Deprivation and Chastisement!”
3.Section 16 Supplications Narrated on the Authority of Our Master Zayn al-Abedin (as) before the Festival Prayer
The following is narrated through a chain of documents to Sheikh Abi Muhammad Harun ibn Musa al-Talakbari – May God be pleased with him – on the authority of Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju‟afi, on the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari: “I was in Medina when it was governed by Marvan ibn al-Hikam as an agent of Yazid ibn Muaviyyih. It was during the month of Ramadhan on the last night when the callers called the people to go out to the Baqia Mosque for the Festival prayers. Then I left my house intending to go to the house of Ali ibn al-Hussein (as) early at dawn. As I was passing one of the pathways of Medina I saw the residents leaving the Baqia Mosque. They asked me, “O' Jabir! Where are you going?” “O‟ Jabir ! Where are you going?” He replied, “I am going to the Prophet‟s mosque.” When we arrived at the mosque and entered it, we found my master Ali ibn al-Hussein (as) who was standing by himself and saying the morning prayers. I stood up and said the assembly prayer with him (as). When he (as) finished the morning prayer, he (as) prostrated and made a thanking prostration. Then he (as) sat and said supplications. I said Amen to his (as) supplications. He (as) said supplications until sunrise. When the sun rose, he (as) stood up, stood facing the Qibla and the grave of God‟s Prophet (as). Then he (as) raised his hands towards the sky until they were placed in front of his face and said the following supplications.
إِلَهِي وَ سَيِّدِي أَنْتَ فَطَرْتَنِي وَ ابْتَدَأْتَ خَلْقِي لَا لِحَاجَةٍ مِنْكَ إِلَيَّ بَلْ تَفَضُّلًا مِنْكَ عَلَيَّ وَ قَدَّرْتَ لِي أَجَلًا وَ رِزْقاً لَا أَتَعَدَّاهُمَا وَ لَا يَنْقَضِي [لَا يَنْقُصُنِي] أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمَا شَيْئاً وَ كَنَفْتَنِي مِنْكَ بِأَنْوَاعِ النِّعَمِ وَ الْكِفَايَةِ طِفْلًا وَ نَاشِئاً مِنْ غَيْرِ عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ فَعَلِمْتَهُ مِنِّي فَجَازَيْتَنِي عَلَيْهِ بَلْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكَ تَطَوُّلًا عَلَيَّ وَ امْتِنَاناً
“O‟ my God! O‟ my Master! You devised me and initiated my creation. There was no need of me, but it was Your Favor to me. You destined me a life span and sustenance which I cannot evade! No one can reduce any of them. You took care of me with a variety of blessings during my childhood and youth not as reward for anything I have done that You know of. However, this is as a bestowal and favor from You to me.
فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتَ بِي أَجَلَ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ عِلْمِكَ بِي وَ وَفَّقْتَنِي لِمَعْرِفَةِ وَحْدَانِيَّتِكَ وَ الْإِقْرَارِ بِرُبُوبِيَّتِكَ فَوَحَّدْتُكَ مُخْلِصاً لَمْ أَدَعْ لَكَ شَرِيكاً فِي مُلْكِكَ وَ لَا مُعِيناً عَلَى قُدْرَتِكَ
When I grew up to the age that you had destined based on Your Knowledge, You gave me success in recognition of Your Oneness, and confession to Your Lordship. Thus I sincerely worshipped You alone and did not call on any associates in Your Authority or any aid in Your Power.
وَ لَمْ أَنْسُبْ إِلَيْكَ صَاحِبَةً وَ لَا وَلَداً فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتَ بِي تَنَاهِيَ الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْكَ عَلَيَّ مَنَنْتَ بِمَنْ هَدَيْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ وَ اسْتَنْقَذْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ وَ اسْتَخْلَصْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الْحِيرَةِ وَ فَكَكْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الْجَهَالَةِ
I did not ascribe any companion or children to You. Once You perfected Your Mercy on me, you favored me with one who guided me out of darkness and saved me from destruction, released me from wandering and freed me from ignorance.
وَ هُوَ حَبِيبُكَ وَ نَبِيُّكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ أَزْلَفُ خَلْقِكَ عِنْدَكَ وَ أَكْرَمُهُمْ مَنْزِلَةً لَدَيْكَ فَشَهِدْتُ مَعَهُ بِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِ وَ أَقْرَرْتُ لَكَ بِالرُّبُوبِيَّةِ وَ الرِّسَالَةِ وَ أَوْجَبْتَ لَهُ عَلَيَّ الطَّاعَةَ
He (as) is Your beloved one, Your Prophet Muhammad (as) – the closest of Your Creatures near You, with the most honored rank next to You. I testified to Your Oneness with him, confessed to Your Lordship and his Prophethood, and You made it incumbent on me to obey him (as).
فَأَطَعْتُهُ كَمَا أَمَرْتَ وَ صَدَّقْتُهُ فِيمَا حَتَمْتَ وَ خَصَصْتَهُ بِالْكِتَابِ الْمَنْزَلِ عَلَيْهِ وَ السَّبْعِ الْمَثَانِي الْمُوحَاةِ إِلَيْهِ وَ أَسْمَيْتَهُ الْقُرْآنَ وَ أَكْنَيْتَهُ الْفُرْقَانَ الْعَظِيمَ فَقُلْتَ جَلَّ اسْمُكَ وَ لَقَدْ آتَيْناكَ سَبْعاً مِنَ الْمَثانِي وَ الْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ
I obeyed him as You ordered, acknowledged him in what You destined, and made him unique with the Book You sent down and “the Seven Oft-repeated (verses)”-15:87 revealed to him that You called the Qur‟an, and nicknamed “the Grand Criterion.” Then You said, “And We have bestowed upon You the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur‟an.”
وَ قُلْتَ جَلَّ قَوْلُكَ لَهُ حِينَ اخْتَصَصْتَهُ بِمَا سَمَّيْتَهُ بِهِ مِنَ الْأَسْمَاءِ طه ما أَنْزَلْنا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقى وَ قُلْتَ عَزَّ قَوْلُكَ يس وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ وَ قُلْتَ تَقَدَّسَتْ أَسْمَاؤُكَ ص وَ الْقُرْآنِ ذِي الذِّكْرِ وَ قُلْتَ عَظُمَتْ آلَاؤُكَ ق وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ
And when You singled him out by naming him with some of the Names, You said, “Ta-Ha.” We have not sent down the Qur‟an to You to be (an occasion) for Your distress”-20:1-2,
فَخَصَصْتَهُ أَنْ جَعَلْتَهُ قَسَمَكَ حِينَ أَسْمَيْتَهُ وَ قَرَنْتَ الْقُرْآنَ مَعَهُ فَمَا فِي كِتَابِكَ مِنْ شَاهِدِ قَسَمٍ وَ الْقُرْآنُ مُرْدَفٌ بِهِ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ اسْمُهُ وَ ذَلِكَ شَرَفٌ شَرَّفْتَهُ بِهِ وَ فَضْلٌ بَعَثْتَهُ إِلَيْهِ تَعْجِزُ الْأَلْسُنُ وَ الْأَفْهَامُ عَنْ وَصْفِ مُرَادِكَ بِهِ وَ تَكِلُّ عَنْ عِلْمِ ثَنَائِكَ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتَ عَزَّ جَلَالُكَ فِي تَأْكِيدِ الْكِتَابِ وَ قَبُولِ مَا جَاءَ فِيهِ هذا كِتابُنا يَنْطِقُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحَقِ
You singled him out and swore along with his name, and You equated the Qur‟an with him. Thus, there are no instances of witness to swearing in Your Book not followed by the Qur‟an except it being his name. This is an honor You bestowed on him, and a nobility that you appointed him with. The tongues and understanding have failed to describe Your Intention of this and have failed to realized Your praising him. As in the emphasis of the Book and what is in it You – the Exalted, the Majestic said, “This Our Record speaks about you with truth:..”45:29
وَ قُلْتَ عَزَيْتَ [عَزَزْتَ] وَ جَلَّيْتَ [وَ أَجْلَلْتَ] ما فَرَّطْنا فِي الْكِتابِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَ قُلْتَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَ تَعَالَيْتَ فِي عَامَّةِ ابْتِدَائِهِ الر تِلْكَ آياتُ الْكِتابِ الْحَكِيمِ الر كِتابٌ أَنْزَلْناهُ إِلَيْكَ الر كِتابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آياتُهُ الر تِلْكَ آياتُ الْكِتابِ الْمُبِينِ وَ الم ذلِكَ الْكِتابُ لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَ فِي أَمْثَالِهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ وَ الطَّوَاسِينِ [سُوَرِ الطَّوَاسِينِ] وَ الْحَوَامِيمِ فِي كُلِّ ذَلِكَ ثَنَّيْتَ بِالْكِتَابِ مَعَ الْقَسَمِ الَّذِي هُوَ اسْمُ مَنِ اخْتَصَصْتَهُ لِوَحْيِكَ وَ اسْتَوْدَعْتَهُ سِرَّ غَيْبِكَ فَأَوْضَحَ لَنَا مِنْهُ شُرُوطَ فَرَائِضِكَ
And You – the Exalted, the Majestic said, “…Nothing have we omitted from the Book, …”6:38
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا وَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ يَأْتُونَهُ لِيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَ لِيُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا هَدَاهُمْ وَ أَعِنِّي
O‟ my God! I ask You to let me be amongst those who can afford the journey, and of the men who witness the benefits provided for them, and exalt Him for having guided them.
اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى جِهَادِ عَدُوِّكَ فِي سَبِيلِكَ مَعَ وَلِيِّكَ كَمَا قُلْتَ جَلَّ قَوْلُكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اشْتَرى مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَ أَمْوالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ يُقاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ قَدْ قُلْتَ جَلَّتْ أَسْمَاؤُكَ وَ لَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّى نَعْلَمَ الْمُجاهِدِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَ الصَّابِرِينَ وَ نَبْلُوَا أَخْبارَكُمْ
O‟ my God! Please help me struggle against Your enemies along with Your Friend as You said, “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause”2 You – Beautiful are Your Names - said, “And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle).
اللَّهُمَّ فَأَرِدْنِي ذَلِكَ السَّبِيلَ حَتَّى أُقَاتِلَ فِيهِ بِنَفْسِي وَ مَالِي طَلَبَ رِضَاكَ فَأَكُونَ مِنَ الْفَائِزِينَ
O‟ my God! Let me see this Path so that I may fight to attain Your Pleasure with my life and wealth, and be of those who prosper.
اللَّهُمَّ [إِلَهِي] أَيْنَ [أَنَّى] الْمَفَرُّ عَنْكَ فَلَا يَسَعُنِي بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا حِلْمُكَ فَكُنْ بِي رَءُوفاً رَحِيماً وَ اقْبَلْنِي وَ تَقَبَّلْ مِنِّي وَ أَعْظِمْ لِي فِيهِ بَرَكَةَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَ مَثُوبَةَ الْآخِرَةِ [الْأَجْرِ] وَ ارْزُقْنِي [وَ أَرِنِي] صِحَّةَ التَّصْدِيقِ بِمَا سَأَلْتُ وَ إِنْ أَنْتَ عَمَّرْتَنِي إِلَى عَامٍ مِثْلِهِ وَ يَوْمٍ مِثْلِهِ وَ لَمْ تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّي فَأَعِنِّي بِالتَّوْفِيقِ عَلَى بُلُوغِ رِضَاكَ وَ أَشْرِكْنِي يَا إِلَهِي فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ فِي جَمِيعِ دُعَاءِ مَنْ أَجَبْتَهُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ أَشْرِكْهُمْ فِي دُعَائِي إِذَا أَجَبْتَنِي فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ فَإِنِّي رَاغِبٌ إِلَيْكَ لِي وَ لَهُمْ وَ عَائِذٌ بِكَ لِي وَ لَهُمْ فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.
O‟ my God! Where can I run away from You? Nothing but Your Forebearance can encompass me after this. So please be kind and merciful to me. Accept me and accept it from me. Increase the blessedness of Your Forgiveness and the You reward during this month and show me the acknowledgement of my demands. If You let me live to the same day and month next year, and did not make this be the last time for me, help me attain Your Pleasure. O‟ my God! Today let me be a partner in the prayers of all the believing men and women whose prayers You fulfilled, and let them be partners in my prayers that You fulfill here in this place right in front of You. Indeed I request for myself and them and seek protection for myself and them. So please fulfill it for me – O‟ the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.”
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ أَمَامِي وَ عَلِيٍّ مِنْ خَلْفِي وَ عَنْ يَمِينِي وَ أَئِمَّتِي عَنْ يَسَارِي أَسْتَتِرُ بِهِمْ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ وَ أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى لَا أَجِدُ أَحَداً أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ فَهُمْ أَئِمَّتِي فَآمِنْ بِهِمْ خَوْفِي مِنْ عِقَابِكَ وَ سَخَطِكَ وَ أَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
O‟ my God! I turn to You by Muhammad (as) in my front, Ali (as) on my back and my right side, the Divine Leaders on my left side, and I hide myself from Your Punishment by them. I seek nearness to You. I find no one closer to You than them. They are my leaders, so please secure my fear of Your Wrath and Punishment by them and with Your Mercy include me amongst Your Servants in the ranks of the righteous.
1.This dua is to be said after the Fajr /morning prayer of the Festival day
أَصْبَحْتُ بِاللَّهِ مُؤْمِناً [مُوقِناً] مُخْلِصاً عَلَى دِينِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سُنَّتِهِ وَ عَلَى دِينِ عَلِيٍّ وَ سُنَّتِهِ وَ عَلَى دِينِ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ وَ سُنَّتِهِمْ آمَنْتُ بِسِرِّهِمْ وَ عَلَانِيَتِهِمْ وَ أَرْغَبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فِيمَا
I made it to the morning believing in God and sincerely devoted to Muhammad‟s (as) religion and his traditions; to Ali‟s (as) religion and his traditions; to the religion of the Trustees (as) and their traditions. I believe in their secrets and what they made public.
رَغِبَ فِيهِ إِلَيْهِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَ عَلِيٌّ وَ الْأَوْصِيَاءُ وَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا اسْتَعَاذُوا مِنْهُ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ وَ لَا عِزَّةَ وَ لَا مَنَعَةَ وَ لَا سُلْطَانَ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ الْعَزِيزِ الْجَبَّارِ الْمُتَكَبِّرِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَ مَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بالِغُ أَمْرِهِ
I desire from God the Sublime what Muhammad, Ali and the Trustees desired. There is no Change or Power except with God – Exalted in Might, the Irresistible. I rely upon God. God suffices for whoever relies upon Him and God shall take care of his affairs.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُرِيدُكَ فَأَرِدْنِي وَ أَطْلُبُ مَا عِنْدَكَ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِي وَ اقْضِ لِي حَوَائِجِي فَإِنَّكَ قُلْتَ فِي كِتَابِكَ وَ قَوْلُكَ الْحَقُ شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدىً لِلنَّاسِ وَ بَيِّناتٍ مِنَ الْهُدى وَ الْفُرْقانِ
O‟ my God! I desire You so please desire me and I demand what You have so please make it easy for me. Please fulfill my needs as verily You said the following in Your Book and indeed whatever you say is right, “Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur‟an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong)…”
فَعَظَّمْتَ حُرْمَةَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ بِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَ خَصَصْتَهُ وَ عَظَّمْتَهُ بِتَصْيِيرِكَ فِيهِ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَقُلْتَ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَ الرُّوحُ فِيها بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ سَلامٌ هِيَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ
You honored the sanctity of Ramadhan by sending down the Qur‟an during it and exalted it and made it unique with the Night of Destiny. You made it better than a thousand months. You said, “The Night of Destiny is better than a Thousand months. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah‟s permission, on every errand: Peace!...This until the rise of morn!
اللَّهُمَّ وَ هَذِهِ أَيَّامُ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ قَدِ انْقَضَتْ وَ لَيَالِيهِ قَدْ تَصَرَّمَتْ وَ قَدْ صِرْتُ مِنْهُ يَا إِلَهِي إِلَى مَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي وَ أَحْصَى لِعَدَدِهِ [بِعَدَدِهِ] مِنْ عَدَدِي فَأَسْأَلُكَ
my God!These were the days of the month of Ramadhan that have ended and its nights that have passed. And You know better than me where I have reached and You count better than I do.
يَا إِلَهِي بِمَا سَأَلَكَ بِهِ عِبَادُكَ الصَّالِحُونَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَنْ تَتَقَبَّلَ [تَقْبَلَ] مِنِّي كُلَّمَا [مَا] تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ وَ تَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيَّ بِتَضْعِيفِ عَمَلِي وَ قَبُولِ تَقَرُّبِي وَ قُرُبَاتِي وَ اسْتِجَابَةِ دُعَائِي وَ هَبْ لِي مِنْكَ عِتْقَ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَ مُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالْفَوْزِ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَ الْأَمْنِ يَوْمَ الْخَوْفِ مِنْ كُلِّ فَزَعٍ وَ مِنْ كُلِّ هَوْلٍ أَعْدَدْتَهُ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
O‟ my God! I ask You what Your Servants in the ranks of the righteous ask You for. I ask You to bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and accept from me what I tried to do to get closer to You and favor me even though my deeds are weak, accept my attempts to seek nearness to You and my deeds, and fulfill my supplications. And please save me from the Fire out of Your Bestowals! And honor me with salvation and shelter in Paradise and security on the Day of Fear from all horrors and troubles that You have prepared for the Resurrection Day.
أَعُوذُ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ وَ بِحُرْمَةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَ حُرْمَةِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِمَ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ وَ لَكَ قِبَلِي تَبِعَةٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُؤَاخِذَنِي بِهَا أَوْ ذَنْبٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِهِ وَ تُشْقِيَنِي وَ تَفْضَحَنِي بِهِ أَوْ خَطِيئَةٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِهَا وَ تَقْتَصَّهَا مِنِّي لَمْ تَغْفِرْهَا لِي وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ الْفَعَّالِ لِمَا يُرِيدُ الَّذِي يَقُولُ لِلشَّيْءِ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ
I take refuge in the sacredness of Your Noble Face, in the sacredness of Your Prophet (as), the sacredness of the righteous people, to let this day pass and let things be left that You have not forgiven and You want to question me about, or any sins with which You want to judge me, or disgrace me or humiliate me or offenses that You want to judge me with. And I ask You by the honor of Your Noble Face that You do as You Will and to whatever You want to create You say “be” and it is. There is no god but You.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ إِنْ كُنْتَ رَضِيتَ عَنِّي فِي هَذَا الشَّهْرِ أَنْ تَزِيدَنِي فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمُرِي رِضًا فَإِنْ [وَ إِنْ] كُنْتَ لَمْ تَرْضَ عَنِّي فِي هَذَا الشَّهْرِ فَمِنَ الْآنَ فَارْضَ عَنِّي السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ وَ اجْعَلْنِي فِي هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَ فِي هَذَا الْمَجْلِسِ مِنْ عُتَقَائِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَ طُلَقَائِكَ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ وَ سُعَدَاءِ خَلْقِكَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
O‟ my God! I ask You by “There is no God but You” that if You are pleased with me in this month to increase Your Level of being pleased with me during the rest of my lifetime. And if You are not pleased with me in this month, become pleased with me at this very hour. Please let me be at this very hour, and in this meeting amongst those freed from the Fire, saved from Hell, and of Your prosperous creatures by Your Forgiveness and Mercy. O‟ the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ شَهْرِي هَذَا خَيْرَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانٍ عَبَدْتُكَ فِيهِ وَ صُمْتُهُ لَكَ وَ تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ مُنْذُ أَسْكَنْتَنِي فِيهِ أَعْظَمَهُ أَجْراً وَ أَتَمَّهُ نِعْمَةً وَ أَعَمَّهُ عَافِيَةً وَ أَوْسَعَهُ رِزْقاً وَ أَفْضَلَهُ عِتْقَا مِنَ النَّارِ وَ أَوْجَبَهُ رَحْمَةً وَ أَعْظَمَهُ مَغْفِرَةً وَ أَكْمَلَهُ رِضْوَاناً وَ أَقْرَبَهُ إِلَى مَا تُحِبُّ وَ تَرْضَى
O‟ my God! I ask You by the honor of Your Noble Face to let this month be the best month of Ramadhan in which I worshipped You, and fasted for You, sought nearness to You since You let me reside in this world. Please let it be the month with the greatest reward, the most perfect blessings, the best well-being, the most extended sustenance, the best release from the Hell-fire, the most received Mercy, the greatest forgiveness, the most perfect pleasure, and the closest to what You like.
اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانٍ صُمْتُهُ لَكَ وَ ارْزُقْنِي الْعَوْدَ ثُمَّ الْعَوْدَ حَتَّى تَرْضَى وَ بَعْدَ الرِّضَا وَ حَتَّى تُخْرِجَنِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِماً وَ أَنْتَ عَنِّي رَاضٍ وَ أَنَا لَكَ مَرْضِيٌّ
O‟ my God! Please do not let this be the last month of Ramadhan I fast for You.O‟ God! Please bless me with its return over and over so as to please You, and even after attaining Your Pleasure by taking me out of this world in perfect health, with You pleased with me and me pleased with You.
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَ تُقَدِّرُ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ الْمَحْتُومِ الَّذِي لَا يُرَدُّ وَ لَا يُبَدَّلُ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ تُثِيبُ [تنبت] وَ تُسَمِّي وَ تَقْضِي لَهُ وَ تَزِيدُ وَ تُحِبُّ لَهُ وَ تَرْضَى وَ أَنْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ فِي هَذَا الْعَامِ وَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ الْمَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمُ الْمَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمُ الْمَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمُ الْمُتَقَبَّلِ عَنْهُمْ مَنَاسِكُهُمُ الْمُعَافَيْنَ [المعانين] عَلَى أَسْفَارِهِمُ الْمُقْبِلِينَ عَلَى نُسُكِهِمُ الْمَحْفُوظِينَ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَ ذَرَارِيهِمْ وَ كُلِّ مَا أَنْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ
O‟ my God! And in what You decide and destine for me that do not change I ask you in this year and every year to write my name on the list of those pilgrims to Your Sacred House whose pilgrimage receives Your Approval, whose endeavors are appreciated, whose sins are forgiven, whose rituals are accepted, who are safe in their trips, who have turned to the performance of their deeds, and whose selves, property, family and all that You have bestowed upon them are protected.
اللَّهُمَّ اقْلِبْنِي مِنْ مَجْلِسِي هَذَا فِي شَهْرِي هَذَا فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا فِي سَاعَتِي هَذِهِ مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجَاباً لِي مَغْفُوراً ذَنْبِي مُعَافاً مِنَ النَّارِ وَ مُعْتَقاً مِنْهَا عِتْقاً لَا رِقَّ بَعْدَهُ أَبَداً وَ لَا رَهْبَةَ يَا رَبَّ الْأَرْبَابِ
O‟ my God! Please send me back from this session, this month, this day and this hour prosperous, successful with my supplications fulfilled, with my sins forgiven, and saved from the Fire. released from Hell, such a release that I will never be captured there. O‟ Lord of the lords!
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ فِيمَا شِئْتَ وَ أَرَدْتَ وَ قَضَيْتَ وَ قَدَّرْتَ وَ حَتَمْتَ وَ أَنْفَذْتَ أَنْ تُطِيلَ عُمُرِي وَ أَنْ تَنْسَأَنِي فِي أَجَلِي وَ أَنْ تُقَوِّيَ ضَعْفِي وَ أَنْ تُغْنِيَ فَقْرِي وَ أَنْ تَجْبُرَ فَاقَتِي وَ أَنْ تَرْحَمَ مَسْكَنَتِي وَ أَنْ تُعِزَّ ذُلِّي وَ أَنْ تَرْفَعَ ضَعَتِي وَ أَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَائِلَتِي وَ أَنْ تُؤْنِسَ وَحْشَتِي وَ أَنْ تُكْثِرَ قِلَّتِي وَ أَنْ تُدِرَّ رِزْقِي فِي عَافِيَةٍ وَ يُسْرٍ وَ خَفْضٍ وَ أَنْ تَكْفِيَنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي مِنْ أَمْرِ دُنْيَايَ وَ آخِرَتِي
O‟ my God! I ask You to in what You will and decide, destine and decree, make certain and put into effect to elongate my life, procrastinate my death, alleviate my weakness, change my poverty into wealthiness, compensate for my poverty, have mercy on my helplessness, change my debasement into honor, change my lowliness to sublimity, provide wealth for my family, turn my fear into peace, increase my little, provide my sustenance in well-being, ease and calm and please take care of my affairs regarding my worldly affairs and the affairs of the Hereafter.
وَ لَا تَكِلَنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي فَأَعْجِزَ عَنْهَا وَ لَا إِلَى النَّاسِ فَيَرْفُضُونِي وَ أَنْ تُعَافِيَنِي فِي دِينِي وَ بَدَنِي وَ جَسَدِي وَ رُوحِي وَ وُلْدِي وَ أَهْلِي وَ أَهْلِ مَوَدَّتِي وَ إِخْوَانِي وَ جِيرَانِي مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ الْأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَ الْأَمْوَاتِ وَ أَنْ تَمُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالْأَمْنِ وَ الْإِيمَانِ مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي فَإِنَّكَ وَلِيِّي وَ مَوْلَايَ وَ ثِقَتِي وَ رَجَائِي وَ مَعْدِنُ مَسْأَلَتِي وَ مَوْضِعُ شَكْوَايَ وَ مُنْتَهَى رَغْبَتِي فَلَا تُخَيِّبْنِي فِي رَجَائِي
Please do not leave me to myself as I am unable to manage it and do not leave me to the people as they shall deny me. Please grant good faith, good physical and spiritual health to me and my children, wife, friends, brethren and my close company of the believing men and women, the Muslim men and women whether dead or alive. And favor me by granting me security and faith for as long as I live as indeed You are my Guardian and my Master, my trust and my hope, the treasures for my needs. O‟ He who settles my complaints and my ultimate wish! Then please do not disappoint me of my hopes,
يَا سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلَايَ وَ لَا تُبْطِلْ طَمَعِي وَ رَجَائِي فَقَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ قَدَّمْتُهُمْ إِلَيْكَ أَمَامِي وَ أَمَامَ حَاجَتِي وَ طَلِبَتِي وَ تَضَرُّعِي وَ مَسْأَلَتِي وَ اجْعَلْنِي [فَاجْعَلْنِي] بِهِمْ وَجِيهاً فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ فَإِنَّكَ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِمْ [بِهِمْ] فَاخْتِمْ لِي بِهِمُ السَّعَادَةَ [بِالسَّعَادَةِ] إِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ زِيَادَةٌ فِيهِ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِهِمْ فَاخْتِمْ لِي بِالسَّعَادَةِ وَ الْأَمْنِ وَ السَّلَامَةِ وَ الْإِيمَانِ وَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَ الرِّضْوَانِ وَ السَّعَادَةِ وَ الْحِفْظِ
O‟ my Master! My Guardian! Please do not disappoint me of hope and greed. I turned to You by Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and I presented them ahead of my demands, my submissiveness and my begging. Please let me be honorable in this world and the Hereafter and from those who are close to You as indeed You have favored me by me knowing them. Make me prosperous by them as indeed You have power over all things.”Additions: “You favored me with them. Then please let me end with prosperity and security, well-being and faith, forgiveness and Your Pleasure, Prosperity and Protection.
يَا اللَّهُ أَنْتَ لِكُلِّ حَاجَةٍ لَنَا فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ عَافِنَا وَ لَا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنَا أَحَداً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَ اكْفِنَا كُلَّ أَمْرٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ [أُمُورِ] الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ
O‟ God! You are in charge of all our needs! Please bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and grant us well-being and do not subject us to any of Your creatures whom we cannot tolerate. Please suffice us in all our worldly and afterlife affairs.
يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ تَرَحَّمْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سَلِّمْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَأَفْضَلِ مَا صَلَّيْتَ وَ بَارَكْتَ وَ رَحِمْتَ [وَ تَرَحَّمْتَ] وَ سَلَّمْتَ وَ تَحَنَّنْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.
O‟ Lord of Majesty, Bounty and Honor! O‟ my God! Please bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as), and bestow Your Mercy on Muhammad and his Progeny (as). Please bless Muhammad and his Progeny (as) with Your favors in the manner You bestowed Your Blessings on Abraham (as) and his Progeny (as) and blessed them with your Mercy and Your Favor as You are Prasieworthy, and Glorious!”
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْمُلُوكَ وَ الْأُمَرَاءَ قَدْ وَهَبُوا خِلَعاً لِمَمَالِيكِهِمْ وَ عَبِيدِهِمْ وَ جُنُودِهِمْ وَ لَوْ كَانَ الْمَمَالِيكُ مِنَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ
O‟ my God! The kings and the rulers have granted gifts to their servants, slaves and troops even if their servants are of the rich people.
2.In order to welcome the Festival day, you may address God as follows in order to attain His Benevolence:
وَ الْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ رَأْسُهُ مَكْشُوفٌ مِنْ عَمَائِمِ الْمُرَاقَبَةِ الَّتِي تَلِيقُ بِكُمْ وَ مِنْ مَيَازِرِ الْإِخْلَاصِ الَّتِي تَجِبُ لَكُمْ وَ مِنْ سِتْرِ [سَتْرِ] الْإِقْبَالِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ مِنَ الْخِلَعِ الَّتِي تَصْلُحُ لِلْحُضُورِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكُمْ وَ ثِيَابُ الْعَبْدِ الْمَمْلُوكِ خَلِقَةٌ بِيَدِ الْغَفَلَاتِ وَ دَنِسَةٌ مِنْ وَسَخِ الشَّهَوَاتِ وَ لِبَاسُ سَتْرِ عُيُوبِهِ مُمَزَّقٌ بِيَدِ إِيثَارِهِ
This servant of Yours lacks any turban of mediation or skirts of sincerity that You deserve for me to wear when I turn to you.I lack proper attire to come to Your Presence. The attire of Your servant is torn into pieces due to negligence, and polluted with lust. The attire to cover up his faults has been torn by his selfishness.
عَلَيْكُمْ وَ مِغْفَرُ غُفْرَانِ ذُنُوبِهِ مُكَسَّرٌ بِيَدِ تَهْوِينِهِ بِالاسْتِغْفَارِ الَّذِي يُقَرِّبُهُ إِلَيْكُمْ وَ عَوْرَاتُهُ مَكْشُوفَةٌ وَ عَثَرَاتُهُ مَخُوفَةٌ فَهُوَ مُتَهَتِّكٌ [مهتك] فِي هَذَا الْعِيدِ السَّعِيدِ بِسُوءِ مَلْبُوسِهِ وَ خَجْلَانٌ خِزْيَانٌ مِنْ ثِيَابِ نُحُوسِهِ
What could help forgive his sins has been destroyed by his belittling of asking for forgiveness that could make him closer to You. His private things are uncovered and his mischief is awesome.On this blessed Festival, his honor is threatened due to this torn attire, and he is ashamed for wearing the attire of wretchedness.
فَمَا أَنْتُمْ صَانِعُونَ بِمَمْلُوكٍ يَقُولُ لِسَانُ حَالِهِ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَ إِنَّا إِلَيْهِ راجِعُونَ
What will you do with your servants who say, "To God! We belong, and to Him is our return".
وَ أَنْتُمْ عَلَّمْتُمُ الْمَمْلُوكَ [الْمُلُوكَ] مَكَارِمَ الْأَخْلَاقِ وَ عَنْكُمْ وَ مِنْكُمْ عُرِفَ ابْتِدَاءُ الْخِلَعِ وَ إِطْلَاقُ الْأَعْنَاقِ وَ الْأَرْزَاقِ وَ قَدْ كَانَ الْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ لَمَّا ابْتَدَأْتُمْ
You taught the best etiquette to the kings, and the practice of bestowal of gifts, freeing slaves and providing sustenance started by You.
بِإِنْشَائِهِ عَرَفْتُمْ مَا يَقَعُ مِنْهُ مِنْ سُوءِ إِيَابِهِ [إِبَائِهِ] وَ وَ سِعَهُ حِلْمُكُمْ حَتَّى خَلَعْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ خِلَعَ الْبَقَاءِ وَ خِلَعَ سَلَامَةِ الْأَعْضَاءِ وَ خِلَعَ الشِّفَاءِ مِنَ الْأَدْوَاءِ وَ كَسَوْتُمُوهُ لَحْماً وَ جِلْداً وَ بَالَغْتُمْ مَعَهُ إِنْعَاماً وَ رِفْداً
You were well aware of his rebellion and bad disobedience since You created this servant. Your Forbearance was so vast as to bestow him the gifts of survival, physical health, treatment from various ailments, and cover him with flesh and skin and grant him many other gifts.
فَيَبْقَى الْعَبْدُ الْمَمْلُوكُ عُرْيَاناً بِحَضْرَتِكُمْ [فبحضرتكم] فَمَنْ ذَا يَسْتُرُهُ وَ يَكْسُوهُ إِذَا رَآهُ وَ قَدْ ضَاقَتْ عَنْهُ سَعَةُ رَحْمَتِكُمْ
Who is going to cover up Your servant who is standing naked in front of You now and has been restrained of Your All-Embacing Mercy.
وَ مَنْ يَأْوِيهِ إِذَا نُودِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَيْ طَرِيدَ نَقِمَتِكُمْ فَيَا مَنْ خَلَعَ عَلَيْهِ وَ قَدْ عَرَفَ مَا يَنْتَهِي حَالُهُ إِلَيْهِ وَ رَبَّاهُ وَ غَذَّاهُ وَ آوَاهُ فَقَدْ
Who is going to house him if he is told, „O‟ one who has been pushed away for punishment!‟ Then O‟ He who bestowed him gifts, knew his ultimate conditions, nourished him, fed him, gave him shelter.
أَحَاطَ عِلْماً بِجُرْأَتِهِ عَلَيْهِ وَ مَا كَانَ قَدْ تَشَرَّفَ بِمَعْرِفَةِ مَوْلَاهُ وَ لَا ارْتَضَاهُ أَنْ يَخْدِمَهُ فِي دُنْيَاهُ ارْحَمْ اسْتِغَاثَتَهُ بِكَ وَ اسْتِكَانَتَهُ لَكَ وَ اسْتِجَارَتَهُ بِظِلِّكَ وَ وَسِيلَتَهُ بِفَضْلِكَ إِلَى عَدْلِكَ
Truly Your Knowledge encompassed his rudeness to You, his lack of recognition of his master, and his lack of being pleased with your servitude in this world. Then have mercy on his seeking help from You, his surrendering to You, his seeking sanctuary in Your Shade and his appealing to Your Nobility to benefit from Your Justice!
وَ اكْسُهُ مِنْ [مَعَ] خِلَعِ الْعَفْوِ وَ الْغُفْرَانِ وَ الْأَمَانِ وَ الرِّضْوَانِ مَا يَكُونُ ذِكْرُهَا وَ شُكْرُهَا وَ نَشْرُهَا مَنْسُوباً إِلَى مُجَرَّدِ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ جُودِكَ فَقَدِ انْكَسَرَ قَلْبُهُ وَ خَجِلَ وَ اسْتَحْيَا مِنْ وُقُوفِهِ عُرْيَاناً فِي يَوْمِ [يَ وْمَ] عِيدِكَ مَعَ كَثْرَةِ مَنْ خَلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ عَبِيدِكَ وَ وُفُودِكَ وَ مَا لَهُ بَابٌ غَيْرُ بَابِكَ وَ هُوَ عَاجِزٌ عَنْ عِتَابِكَ فَكَيْفَ يَقْوَى عَلَى حِرْمَانِكَ وَ عِقَابِكَ.
Please cover him with the gifts of Pardoning, Forgiveness, Security and Pleasure such that its remembrance, thankfulness and spreading be only ascribed to Your Mercy and Benevolence. His heart is broken and he is shy and ashamed of standing naked in front of You on the Festival day in spite of You having bestowed gifts to many of Your servants. There are no doors except Your door for him and he is not able to stand Your Blame! Then how could he stand Your Deprivation and Chastisement!”
3.Section 16 Supplications Narrated on the Authority of Our Master Zayn al-Abedin (as) before the Festival Prayer
The following is narrated through a chain of documents to Sheikh Abi Muhammad Harun ibn Musa al-Talakbari – May God be pleased with him – on the authority of Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju‟afi, on the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari: “I was in Medina when it was governed by Marvan ibn al-Hikam as an agent of Yazid ibn Muaviyyih. It was during the month of Ramadhan on the last night when the callers called the people to go out to the Baqia Mosque for the Festival prayers. Then I left my house intending to go to the house of Ali ibn al-Hussein (as) early at dawn. As I was passing one of the pathways of Medina I saw the residents leaving the Baqia Mosque. They asked me, “O' Jabir! Where are you going?” “O‟ Jabir ! Where are you going?” He replied, “I am going to the Prophet‟s mosque.” When we arrived at the mosque and entered it, we found my master Ali ibn al-Hussein (as) who was standing by himself and saying the morning prayers. I stood up and said the assembly prayer with him (as). When he (as) finished the morning prayer, he (as) prostrated and made a thanking prostration. Then he (as) sat and said supplications. I said Amen to his (as) supplications. He (as) said supplications until sunrise. When the sun rose, he (as) stood up, stood facing the Qibla and the grave of God‟s Prophet (as). Then he (as) raised his hands towards the sky until they were placed in front of his face and said the following supplications.
إِلَهِي وَ سَيِّدِي أَنْتَ فَطَرْتَنِي وَ ابْتَدَأْتَ خَلْقِي لَا لِحَاجَةٍ مِنْكَ إِلَيَّ بَلْ تَفَضُّلًا مِنْكَ عَلَيَّ وَ قَدَّرْتَ لِي أَجَلًا وَ رِزْقاً لَا أَتَعَدَّاهُمَا وَ لَا يَنْقَضِي [لَا يَنْقُصُنِي] أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمَا شَيْئاً وَ كَنَفْتَنِي مِنْكَ بِأَنْوَاعِ النِّعَمِ وَ الْكِفَايَةِ طِفْلًا وَ نَاشِئاً مِنْ غَيْرِ عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ فَعَلِمْتَهُ مِنِّي فَجَازَيْتَنِي عَلَيْهِ بَلْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكَ تَطَوُّلًا عَلَيَّ وَ امْتِنَاناً
“O‟ my God! O‟ my Master! You devised me and initiated my creation. There was no need of me, but it was Your Favor to me. You destined me a life span and sustenance which I cannot evade! No one can reduce any of them. You took care of me with a variety of blessings during my childhood and youth not as reward for anything I have done that You know of. However, this is as a bestowal and favor from You to me.
فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتَ بِي أَجَلَ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ عِلْمِكَ بِي وَ وَفَّقْتَنِي لِمَعْرِفَةِ وَحْدَانِيَّتِكَ وَ الْإِقْرَارِ بِرُبُوبِيَّتِكَ فَوَحَّدْتُكَ مُخْلِصاً لَمْ أَدَعْ لَكَ شَرِيكاً فِي مُلْكِكَ وَ لَا مُعِيناً عَلَى قُدْرَتِكَ
When I grew up to the age that you had destined based on Your Knowledge, You gave me success in recognition of Your Oneness, and confession to Your Lordship. Thus I sincerely worshipped You alone and did not call on any associates in Your Authority or any aid in Your Power.
وَ لَمْ أَنْسُبْ إِلَيْكَ صَاحِبَةً وَ لَا وَلَداً فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتَ بِي تَنَاهِيَ الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْكَ عَلَيَّ مَنَنْتَ بِمَنْ هَدَيْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ وَ اسْتَنْقَذْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ وَ اسْتَخْلَصْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الْحِيرَةِ وَ فَكَكْتَنِي بِهِ مِنَ الْجَهَالَةِ
I did not ascribe any companion or children to You. Once You perfected Your Mercy on me, you favored me with one who guided me out of darkness and saved me from destruction, released me from wandering and freed me from ignorance.
وَ هُوَ حَبِيبُكَ وَ نَبِيُّكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ أَزْلَفُ خَلْقِكَ عِنْدَكَ وَ أَكْرَمُهُمْ مَنْزِلَةً لَدَيْكَ فَشَهِدْتُ مَعَهُ بِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِ وَ أَقْرَرْتُ لَكَ بِالرُّبُوبِيَّةِ وَ الرِّسَالَةِ وَ أَوْجَبْتَ لَهُ عَلَيَّ الطَّاعَةَ
He (as) is Your beloved one, Your Prophet Muhammad (as) – the closest of Your Creatures near You, with the most honored rank next to You. I testified to Your Oneness with him, confessed to Your Lordship and his Prophethood, and You made it incumbent on me to obey him (as).
فَأَطَعْتُهُ كَمَا أَمَرْتَ وَ صَدَّقْتُهُ فِيمَا حَتَمْتَ وَ خَصَصْتَهُ بِالْكِتَابِ الْمَنْزَلِ عَلَيْهِ وَ السَّبْعِ الْمَثَانِي الْمُوحَاةِ إِلَيْهِ وَ أَسْمَيْتَهُ الْقُرْآنَ وَ أَكْنَيْتَهُ الْفُرْقَانَ الْعَظِيمَ فَقُلْتَ جَلَّ اسْمُكَ وَ لَقَدْ آتَيْناكَ سَبْعاً مِنَ الْمَثانِي وَ الْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ
I obeyed him as You ordered, acknowledged him in what You destined, and made him unique with the Book You sent down and “the Seven Oft-repeated (verses)”-15:87 revealed to him that You called the Qur‟an, and nicknamed “the Grand Criterion.” Then You said, “And We have bestowed upon You the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur‟an.”
وَ قُلْتَ جَلَّ قَوْلُكَ لَهُ حِينَ اخْتَصَصْتَهُ بِمَا سَمَّيْتَهُ بِهِ مِنَ الْأَسْمَاءِ طه ما أَنْزَلْنا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقى وَ قُلْتَ عَزَّ قَوْلُكَ يس وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ وَ قُلْتَ تَقَدَّسَتْ أَسْمَاؤُكَ ص وَ الْقُرْآنِ ذِي الذِّكْرِ وَ قُلْتَ عَظُمَتْ آلَاؤُكَ ق وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ
And when You singled him out by naming him with some of the Names, You said, “Ta-Ha.” We have not sent down the Qur‟an to You to be (an occasion) for Your distress”-20:1-2,
فَخَصَصْتَهُ أَنْ جَعَلْتَهُ قَسَمَكَ حِينَ أَسْمَيْتَهُ وَ قَرَنْتَ الْقُرْآنَ مَعَهُ فَمَا فِي كِتَابِكَ مِنْ شَاهِدِ قَسَمٍ وَ الْقُرْآنُ مُرْدَفٌ بِهِ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ اسْمُهُ وَ ذَلِكَ شَرَفٌ شَرَّفْتَهُ بِهِ وَ فَضْلٌ بَعَثْتَهُ إِلَيْهِ تَعْجِزُ الْأَلْسُنُ وَ الْأَفْهَامُ عَنْ وَصْفِ مُرَادِكَ بِهِ وَ تَكِلُّ عَنْ عِلْمِ ثَنَائِكَ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتَ عَزَّ جَلَالُكَ فِي تَأْكِيدِ الْكِتَابِ وَ قَبُولِ مَا جَاءَ فِيهِ هذا كِتابُنا يَنْطِقُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحَقِ
You singled him out and swore along with his name, and You equated the Qur‟an with him. Thus, there are no instances of witness to swearing in Your Book not followed by the Qur‟an except it being his name. This is an honor You bestowed on him, and a nobility that you appointed him with. The tongues and understanding have failed to describe Your Intention of this and have failed to realized Your praising him. As in the emphasis of the Book and what is in it You – the Exalted, the Majestic said, “This Our Record speaks about you with truth:..”45:29
وَ قُلْتَ عَزَيْتَ [عَزَزْتَ] وَ جَلَّيْتَ [وَ أَجْلَلْتَ] ما فَرَّطْنا فِي الْكِتابِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَ قُلْتَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَ تَعَالَيْتَ فِي عَامَّةِ ابْتِدَائِهِ الر تِلْكَ آياتُ الْكِتابِ الْحَكِيمِ الر كِتابٌ أَنْزَلْناهُ إِلَيْكَ الر كِتابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آياتُهُ الر تِلْكَ آياتُ الْكِتابِ الْمُبِينِ وَ الم ذلِكَ الْكِتابُ لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَ فِي أَمْثَالِهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ وَ الطَّوَاسِينِ [سُوَرِ الطَّوَاسِينِ] وَ الْحَوَامِيمِ فِي كُلِّ ذَلِكَ ثَنَّيْتَ بِالْكِتَابِ مَعَ الْقَسَمِ الَّذِي هُوَ اسْمُ مَنِ اخْتَصَصْتَهُ لِوَحْيِكَ وَ اسْتَوْدَعْتَهُ سِرَّ غَيْبِكَ فَأَوْضَحَ لَنَا مِنْهُ شُرُوطَ فَرَائِضِكَ
And You – the Exalted, the Majestic said, “…Nothing have we omitted from the Book, …”6:38
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا وَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ يَأْتُونَهُ لِيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَ لِيُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا هَدَاهُمْ وَ أَعِنِّي
O‟ my God! I ask You to let me be amongst those who can afford the journey, and of the men who witness the benefits provided for them, and exalt Him for having guided them.
اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى جِهَادِ عَدُوِّكَ فِي سَبِيلِكَ مَعَ وَلِيِّكَ كَمَا قُلْتَ جَلَّ قَوْلُكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اشْتَرى مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَ أَمْوالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ يُقاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ قَدْ قُلْتَ جَلَّتْ أَسْمَاؤُكَ وَ لَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّى نَعْلَمَ الْمُجاهِدِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَ الصَّابِرِينَ وَ نَبْلُوَا أَخْبارَكُمْ
O‟ my God! Please help me struggle against Your enemies along with Your Friend as You said, “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause”2 You – Beautiful are Your Names - said, “And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle).
اللَّهُمَّ فَأَرِدْنِي ذَلِكَ السَّبِيلَ حَتَّى أُقَاتِلَ فِيهِ بِنَفْسِي وَ مَالِي طَلَبَ رِضَاكَ فَأَكُونَ مِنَ الْفَائِزِينَ
O‟ my God! Let me see this Path so that I may fight to attain Your Pleasure with my life and wealth, and be of those who prosper.
اللَّهُمَّ [إِلَهِي] أَيْنَ [أَنَّى] الْمَفَرُّ عَنْكَ فَلَا يَسَعُنِي بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا حِلْمُكَ فَكُنْ بِي رَءُوفاً رَحِيماً وَ اقْبَلْنِي وَ تَقَبَّلْ مِنِّي وَ أَعْظِمْ لِي فِيهِ بَرَكَةَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَ مَثُوبَةَ الْآخِرَةِ [الْأَجْرِ] وَ ارْزُقْنِي [وَ أَرِنِي] صِحَّةَ التَّصْدِيقِ بِمَا سَأَلْتُ وَ إِنْ أَنْتَ عَمَّرْتَنِي إِلَى عَامٍ مِثْلِهِ وَ يَوْمٍ مِثْلِهِ وَ لَمْ تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّي فَأَعِنِّي بِالتَّوْفِيقِ عَلَى بُلُوغِ رِضَاكَ وَ أَشْرِكْنِي يَا إِلَهِي فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ فِي جَمِيعِ دُعَاءِ مَنْ أَجَبْتَهُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ أَشْرِكْهُمْ فِي دُعَائِي إِذَا أَجَبْتَنِي فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ فَإِنِّي رَاغِبٌ إِلَيْكَ لِي وَ لَهُمْ وَ عَائِذٌ بِكَ لِي وَ لَهُمْ فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.
O‟ my God! Where can I run away from You? Nothing but Your Forebearance can encompass me after this. So please be kind and merciful to me. Accept me and accept it from me. Increase the blessedness of Your Forgiveness and the You reward during this month and show me the acknowledgement of my demands. If You let me live to the same day and month next year, and did not make this be the last time for me, help me attain Your Pleasure. O‟ my God! Today let me be a partner in the prayers of all the believing men and women whose prayers You fulfilled, and let them be partners in my prayers that You fulfill here in this place right in front of You. Indeed I request for myself and them and seek protection for myself and them. So please fulfill it for me – O‟ the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.”
