اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْعَبْدُ ٱلصَّالِحُ

as-salamu `alayka ayyuha al`abdu alssalihu

Peace be upon you, O righteous servant (of Allah),

ٱلْمُطِيعُ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلأَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

almuti`u lillahi wa lirasulihi wa li'amiri almu'minina

who is obedient to Allah, to His Messenger, to the Commander of the Faithful,

وَٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

walhasani walhusayni `alayhim as-salamu

to al-Hasan, and to al-Husayn, peace be upon them.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

alhamdu lillahi

All praise be to Allah

وَسَلاَمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَىٰ

wa salamun `ala `ibadihi alladhina istafa

and all peace be upon His servants whom He has chosen:

مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

muhammadin wa alihi

Muhammad and his Household.

وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ

wa as-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatu allahi

Peace, Allah’s mercy,

وَبَرَكَاتُهُ وَمَغْفِرَتُهُ

wa barakatuhu wa maghfiratuhu

blessings, and forgiveness be upon you

وَعَلَىٰ رُوحِكَ وَبَدَنِكَ

wa `ala ruhika wa badanika

and upon your soul and your body.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ مَضَيْتَ عَلَىٰ مَا مَضَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْبَدْرِيُّونَ

ashhadu annaka madayta `ala ma mada `alayhi albadriyyuna

I bear witness that you died for the same principles for which the martyrs of the Battle of Badr died:

ٱلْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

almujahiduna fi sabili allahi

those who strove in Allah’s way

ٱلْمُبَالِغُونَ فِي جِهَادِ أَعْدَائِهِ

almubalighuna fi jihadi a`da'ihi

and did their best in struggling against Allah’s enemies

وَنُصْرَةِ أَوْلِيَائِهِ

wa nusrati awliya'ihi

and in supporting Allah’s friends.

فَجَزَاكَ ٱللَّهُ أَفْضَلَ ٱلْجَزَاءِ

fajazaka allahu afdala aljaza'i

So, may Allah reward you with the best rewarding,

وَأَكْثَرَ ٱلْجَزَاءِ

wa akthara aljaza'i

with the most abundant rewarding,

وَأَوْفَرَ جَزَاءِ أَحَدٍ مِمَّنْ وَفَىٰ بِبَيْعَتِهِ

wa awfara jaza'i ahadin mimman wafa bibay`atihi

and with the most affluent rewarding that He grants to one who fulfilled his allegiance to Him,

وَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُ دَعْوَتَهُ

wastajaba lahu da`watahu

responded to His invitation,

وَأَطَاعَ وُلاَةَ أَمْرِهِ

wa ata`a wulata amrihi

and obeyed His representatives.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَالَغْتَ فِي ٱلنَّصِيحَةِ

ashhadu annaka qad balaghta fi alnnasihati

I bear witness that you exerted all efforts in acting sincerely

وَأَعْطَيْتَ غَايَةَ ٱلْمَجْهُودِ

wa a`tayta ghayata almajhudi

and you put forth all possible endeavors

حَتَّىٰ بَعَثَكَ ٱللَّهُ فِي ٱلشُّهَدَاءِ

hatta ba`athaka allahu fi alshshuhada'i

so that Allah has included you with the martyrs,

وَجَعَلَ رُوحَكَ مَعَ أَرْوَاحِ ٱلسُّعَدَاءِ

wa ja`ala ruhaka ma`a arwahi alssu`ada'i

put your soul with the souls of the delighted ones,

وَأَعْطَاكَ مِنْ جِنَانِهِ أَفْسَحَهَا مَنْزِلاً

wa a`taka min jinanihi afsahaha manzilan

has decided for you the most spacious abode in the gardens of His Paradise

وَأَفْضَلَهَا غُرَفاً

wa afdalaha ghurafan

and the best rooms therein,

وَرَفَعَ ذِكْرَكَ فِي ٱلْعِلِّيِّينَ

wa rafa`a dhikraka fi al`illiyyina

raised your name to the `illiyyin (the loftiest place),

وَحَشَرَكَ مَعَ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ

wa hasharaka ma`a alnnabiyyina walssiddiqina

and added you to the group of the Prophets, the veracious ones,

وَٱلشُّهَدَاءِ وَٱلصَّالِحِينَ

walshshuhada'i walssalihina

the martyrs, and the righteous ones.

وَحَسُنَ أُولٰئِكَ رَفِيقاً

wa hasuna ula'ika rafiqan

How excellent is the company of these.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ لَمْ تَهِنْ وَلَمْ تَنْكُلْ

ashhadu annaka lam tahin wa lam tankul

I bear witness that you never slackened or recoiled (from your duty)

وَأَنَّكَ قَدْ مَضَيْتَ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ

wa annaka qad madayta `ala basiratin min amrika

and that you died while you are certain of your doctrine

مُقْتَدِياً بِٱلصَّالِحِينَ

muqtadiyan bilssalihina

as you followed the righteous ones

وَمُتَّبِعاً لِلنَّبِيِّينَ

wa muttabi`an lilnnabiyyina

and imitated the Prophets.

فَجَمَعَ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ

fajama`a allahu baynana wa baynaka

So, may Allah gather us with you

وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِهِ وَأَوْلِيَائِهِ

wa bayna rasulihi wa awliya'ihi

and with His Messenger and intimate servants

فِي مَنَازِلِ ٱلْمُخْبِتِينَ

fi manazili almukhbitina

in the abodes of the modest ones.

فَإِنَّهُ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

fa'innahu arhamu alrrahimina

Surely, He is the most merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

You may then offer a two-unit prayer at the side of his head and present this prayer as your gift to him. Then, you may say the prayer which is said at the end of the Ziyarah recited in holy shrine of al-`Abbas (sa)

وَلاَ تَدَعْ لِي فِي هٰذَا ٱلْمَكَانِ ٱلْمُكَرَّمِ…

wa la tada` li fi hadha almakani almukarrami…
