Observe fasting on this day. According to narrations, Prophet Noah (`a) embarked on the Ark on such a day; he therefore ordered his companions to observe fasting. Hence, whoever observes fasting on this day; Hellfire will move away from him for a distance of one year walk.
Taking a Ghusl is also advisable on this day.
in the first night recite a 2 unit prayer with Sura Fatiha and Sura Anam (no 6). One may then pray to Allah(swt) to save him from any terror or pain and to make him live throughout that month peacefully and safely.
It is recommended to have some cheese on the beginning of the month.
Give Sadaqa (charity) for safety throughout the month.
