اللَّهُمَّ سُبْحَانَكَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ تُعْبَدُ بِتَوْفِيقِكَ

O my God! There is no God but You: glory be to You. You are Worshipped by Your success

وَ تُجْحَدُ بِخِذْلَانِكَ أَرَيْتَ عِبَرَكَ وَ ظَهَرَتْ غِيَرُكَ

You are denied for Your letting down, You have shown us the lessons, and Your changes have become apparent

وَ بَقِيَتْ آثَارُ الْمَاضِينَ عِظَةً لِلْبَاقِينَ وَ الشَّهَوَاتُ غَالِبَةٌ وَ اللَّذَّاتُ مُجَاذِبَةٌ

The remains of the past are left for those who remain to learn from. Lusts are powerful and carnal desires are attractive

نَعْتَرِضُ أَمْرَكَ وَ نَهْيَكَ بِسُوءِ الِاخْتِيَارِ

We use our bad free will to challenge Your Decrees and Prohibitions

وَ نَمِيلُ عَنِ الرَّشَادِ وَ نُنَافِرُ طُرُقَ السَّدَادِ

We are blind towards good insight and have deviated from the Right Path, and evaded ways of righteousness

فَلَوْ [فَإِنْ‌] عَجَّلْتَ لا انتقمت [لَانْتَقَمْتَ‌] وَ مَا ظَلَمْتَ

Thus if You rush and take revenge, it would not be oppression

وَ لَكِنَّكَ تُمْهِلُ عَوْداً عَلَى يَدِكَ [بَدْئِكَ‌] بِالْإِحْسَانِ

However, You give us more time with Your Continued Kindness

وَ تُنْظِرُ تَعَمُّداً لِلرَّأْفَةِ وَ الِامْتِنَانِ

and wait to perfect Your Kindness and Grace

فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ وَ مَكَّنْتَهُ أَنْ يَتُوبَ كُفْرَ الْحُوبِ

How many people did You bestow Your Blessings upon and granted an opportunity to repent from the great sin?

وَ أَرْشَدْتَهُ الطَّرِيقَ بَعْدَ أَنْ تَوَغَّلَ فِي الْمَضِيقِ

How many people did You direct to the Right Path after they were stuck in a bad situation?

فَكَانَ ضَالًّا لَوْ لَا هِدَايَتُكَ وَ كَانَ طَائِحاً حَتَّى تَخَلَّصَتْهُ دَلَائِلُكَ

They would have been lost if You had not guided them, but it was Your clear reasons that saved them

وَ كَمْ مِمَّنْ وَسَّعْتَ لَهُ فَطَغَى وَ رَاخَيْتَ لَهُ فَاسْتَشْرَى

How many people did You bestow Your Blessings upon but they rebelled. and gave them more time, but they became stubborn

فَأَخَذْتَهُ أَخْذَةَ الِانْتِقَامِ وَ جَذَذْتَهُ جُذَاذَ الصِّرَامِ

So, You took revenge and destroyed them

اللَّهُمَّ فَاجْعَلْنِي فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ مِمَّنْ رَضِيتَ عَمَلَهُ

O my God! Please establish me amongst those from whose deeds You are pleased on this night

وَ غَفَرْتُ زَلَلَهُ وَ رَحِمْتَ غَفْلَتَهُ وَ أَخَذْتَ إِلَى طَاعَتِكَ نَاصِيَتَهُ

whose slippages You Forgive, and whose negligence You have Mercy upon, and whom You grab and lead towards obeying You

وَ جَعَلْتَ إِلَى جَنَّتِكَ أَوْبَتَهُ وَ إِلَى جِوَارِكَ رَجْعَتَهُ

and have placed his return near You in Paradise

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ

Please bestow blessings on the Prophet Muhammad and his Progeny and peace

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

O the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
