سُبْحَانَ مُقَلِّبِ الْقُلُوبِ وَ الْأَبْصَارِ
Glory be to God who changes what is in the heart and sights!
سُبْحَانَ مُقَلِّبِ اللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ وَ خَالِقِ الْأَزْمِنَةِ وَ الْأَعْصَارِ
Glory be to You who changes the nights and days and creates the times and periods
الْمُجْرِي عَلَى مَشِيَّتِهِ الْأَقْدَارَ الَّذِي لَا بَقَاءَ لِشَيْءٍ سِوَاهُ
He who endorses my destined decree! He other than whom nothing shall survive!
وَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَعْتَوِرُهُ الْفَنَاءُ غَيْرَهُ
All things but Him shall be destroyed
فَهُوَ الْحَيُّ الْبَاقِي الدَّائِمُ تَبارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعالَمِينَ
He is the Living – the Everlasting! Blessed be God the Lord of the worlds!
اللَّهُمَّ قَدِ انْتَصَفَ شَهْرُ الصِّيَامِ بِمَا مَضَى مِنْ أَيَّامِهِ
O my God! With what has passed of it, the month of fasting has become one half
وَ انْجَذَبَ إِلَى تَمَامِهِ وَ اخْتِتَامِهِ
It is going to complete and end
وَ مَا لِي عُدَّةٌ أَعْتَدُّ بِهَا فَأَلْجَأُ إِلَيْهَا وَ لَا أَعْمَالٌ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أُعَوِّلُ عَلَيْهَا
However, I have no good deeds to offer to You
سِوَى إِيمَانِي بِكَ وَ رَجَائِي لَكَ
except for my faith in You and my hope of You
فَأَمَّا رَجَائِي فَيُكَدِّرُهُ عَلَيَّ صَفْوَةُ الْخَوْفِ مِنْكَ
My hope is weakened by my sincere fear of You
وَ أَمَّا إِيمَانِي فَلَا يَضِيعُ عِنْدَكَ وَ هُوَ بِتَوْفِيقِكَ
However, my faith shall not be weakened near You with Your granting me success
اللَّهُمَّ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حِينَ لَمْ يَدِي عِنْدَ التَّمَاسُكِ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى
O my God! All Praise belongs to You who did not push off my hand when I tried to grab onto the most trustworthy stronghold
وَ لَمْ تُشْقِنِي بِمُفَارَقَتِهَا فِيمَنِ اعْتَوَرَهُ الشَّقَاءُ
and did not make me wretched like those who lost it
اللَّهُمَّ فَأَنْصِفْنِي مِنْ شَهَوَاتِي فَإِلَيْكَ مِنْهَا الشَّكْوَى
O my God! Please deal with me fairly regarding my carnal desires since I complain to You regarding them
وَ مِنْكَ عَلَيْهَا أُؤَمِّلُ الْعَدْوَى فَإِنَّكَ تَشَاءُ وَ تَقْدِرُ وَ أَشَاءُ وَ لَسْتُ [وَ لَا] أَقْدِرُ
and have hopes in You regarding them since You Will and Destine but I will and I cannot destine
وَ لَسْتُ إِلَهِي وَ سَيِّدِي مَحْجُوجاً
O my God! O my Master! You do not get overcome by anyone
وَ لَكِنْ مَسْئُولًا تُرْجَى وَ مَخُوفاً يُتَّقَى تُحْصِي وَ نَنْسَى
and I beg of You with hopes, You are feared. You count our deeds but we forget
وَ بِيَدِكَ حُلْوُ وَ مُرُّ الْقَضَاءِ
The sweetness and bitterness of destiny is in Your Hands
اللَّهُمَّ فَأَذِقْنِي حَلَاوَةَ عَفْوِكَ وَ لَا تُجَرِّعْنِي غُصَصَ سَخَطِكَ
O my God! Please let me taste the sweetness of Your Pardon. Please do not let me feel the grief of Your Wrath
وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ
Please bestow Your Blessings on the Prophet Muhammad and his Progeny
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
O the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
سُبْحَانَ مُقَلِّبِ الْقُلُوبِ وَ الْأَبْصَارِ
