سُبْحَانَ مَنْ يَجُودُ عَلَيَّ بِرَحْمَتِهِ فَيُوَسِّعُهَا بِمَشِيَّتِهِ [بِمَشِيئَتِهِ‌]

“Glory be to Him who bestowed His Mercy on me and extends it by His Will.

ثُمَّ يُقَصِّرُهَا إِلَى نِعَمِهِ وَ أَيَادِيهِ وَ لِيُبَيِّنَ فِيهَا لِلنَّاظِرِينَ أَثَرَ صَنِيعِهِ وَ الْمُتَأَمِّلِينَ [وَ لِلْمُتَأَمِّلِينَ‌] دَقَائِقَ حِكْمَتِهِ

Then He extends it to His Blessings and Bestowals to clarify His creation to the onlookers, and clarify the fine details of His Wisdom to those who ponder.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ [هُوَ] وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ مُتَفَرِّد

I bear witness that there is no God but Him. He is One and there are no partners for Him.

اً بِخَلْقِهِ بِغَيْرِ مُعِينٍ وَ جَاعِلًا جَمِيعَ أَفْعَالِهِ وَاحِداً بِلَا ظَهِيرٍ

He has created things without any assistance, and He does all His Deeds by Himself without any supporters.

عَرَفَتْهُ الْقُلُوبُ بِضَمَائِرِهَا وَ الْأَفْكَارُ بِخَوَاطِرِهَا

The hearts know Him by their inner feelings and the minds do so by their thoughts.

وَ النُّفُوسُ بِسَرَائِرِهَا وَ طَلَبَتْهُ التَّحْصِيلَاتُ

The souls know Him by their inner self-seeking His Knowledge.

فَفَاتَهَا وَ اعْتَرَضَتْهُ الْمَعْقُولَاتُ [الْمَفْعُولَاتُ‌] فَأَطَاحَهَا

The intellects have sought Him by intelligence and that has obeyed Him.

فَهُوَ الْقَرِيبُ السَّمِيعُ وَ الْحَاضِرُ الْمُرْتَفِعُ

As He is Near, All Hearing, Present and Sublime.

اللَّهُمَّ هَذِهِ أَضْوَأُ وَ أَنْوَرُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ شَهْرِكَ وَ أَزْيَنُهَا وَ أَحْصَاهَا بِضَوْءِ [لِضَوْءِ] بَدْرِكَ بَسَطْتَ فِيهَا لَوَامِعَهُ وَ ارْتَعَجَتْ فِي أَرْضِكَ شُعَاعُهُ

O‟ my God! This is the brightest and the most brilliant night of Your month since You have brought out the full moon whose light covers all Your earth.

وَ هِيَ لَيْلَةُ سَبْعَيْنِ مَضَيَا مِنَ الصِّيَامِ وَ أَوَّلُ سَبْعَيْنِ بَقِيَا مِنْ عَدَدِ الْأَيَّامِ

It is the night of the fourteenth day of Ramadhan and the first night of the last fourteen days.

اللَّهُمَّ فَوَسِّعْ لِي فِيهَا نُورَ عَفْوِكَ وَ ابْسُطْهُ وَ امْحَصْ عَنِّي ظُلَمَ سَخَطِكَ وَ اقْبِضْهُ‌

O‟ my God! Please extend the light of Your Forgivenss for me on it and push off and withdraw the darkness of Your Wrath from me.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ جُودَكَ وَ نِعْمَتَكَ يُصْلِحَانِ رَجَائِي وَ إِنَّ صِيَانَتَكَ وَ مُخَاصَّتَكَ يَكْشِفَانِ بَالِي

O‟ my God! Your Generosity and Blessings improve my hope, Your Protection relieves my mind.

وَ مَا أَنْتَ بِضُرِّي مُنْتَفِعٌ فَأَتَّهِمَكَ بِالتَّوَفُّرِ عَلَى مَنْفَعَتِكَ

You earn no profit from my loss so I cannot accuse You of earning a lot of profit.

وَ لَا بِمَا يَنْفَعُنِي مَضْرُورٌ فَأَسْتَحْيِيكَ مِنِ الْتِمَاسِ مَضَرَّتِكَ

You suffer no loss from my earning a profit so I cannot be ashamed of asking for Your loss.

فَكَيْفَ يَبْخَلُ مَنْ لَا حَاجَةَ بِهِ إِلَى عَفْوِ مَعْبُودٍ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ مُضْطَرٍّ إِلَى عَفْوِهِ

Then how could One who does not need the servants to pardon Him and is not in dire need of pardon be stingy.

أَمْ كَيْفَ يَسْمَحُ وَ قَدْ جَادَ لَهُ بِهِدَايَتِهِ أَنْ يُخَلِّيَهُ وَ يَقْحُمَ سُبُلَ ضَلَالَتِهِ

And how could He let him proceed on the path to deviation and loss while He himself has guided him.

كَلَّا إِنَّكَ لَأَكْرَمُ يَا مَوْلَايَ مِنْ ذَاكَ وَ أَرْأَفُ وَ أَحْنَى وَ أَعْطَفُ

No. You are nobler than to let this happen. O‟ my Guardian! You are much more nobler and kinder than to let this happen.

اللَّهُمَّ اطْوِ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ بِعَمَلٍ لِي صَالِحٍ تَرْضَى مَطَاوِيَهُ

O‟ my God! Please let this night end for me in a good deed that shall please You,

وَ يُبْهِجُنِي فِي آخِرَتِي بِمَنَاشِرِهِ وَ أَمْضَاهَا

and its good scent shall please me in the Hereafter,

بِالْعَفْوِ عَنِّي فِي أَوَّلِ الشَّهْرِ وَ آخِرِهِ

and shall result in Your Approval of my pardoning in the beginning and end of the month.

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ

O‟ the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. O‟ Compassionate! O‟ Merciful!

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ وَ آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ كَثِيراً.

Please bestow many Blessings on the Prophet Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and send greetings to them many times.”
