اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ تَهَيّا فِي هٰذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ

allahumma man tahayya'a fi hadha alyawmi

O Allah, if one, on this day, prepares oneself,

اوْ تَعَبَّا اوْ اعَدَّ وَٱسْتَعَدَّ

aw ta`abba'a aw a`adda wa ista`adda

takes pains, gets ready, or prepares oneself

لِوِفَادَةٍ إِلَىٰ مَخْلُوقٍ

liwifadatin ila makhluqin

to visit another one,

رَجَاءَ رِفْدِهِ وَنَوَافِلِهِ

raja'a rifdihi wa nawafilihi

hoping for his aid, gifts,

وَفَوَاضِلِهِ وَعَطَايَاهُ

wa fawadilihi wa `atayahu

benefits, and grants;

فَإِنَّ إِلَيْكَ يَاسَيِّدِي تَهْيِئَتِي وَتَعْبِئَتِي

fa inna ilayka ya sayyidi tahyi'ati wa ta`bi'ati

for You alone, my Lord, is my readiness, preparations,

وَإِعْدَادِي وَٱسْتِعْدَادِي

wa i`dadi wa isti`dadi

taking pains, training, and inclination

رَجَاءَ رِفْدِكَ وَجَوَائِزِكَ

raja'a rifdika wa jawa'izika

in the hope of gaining Your aid, gifts,

وَنَوَافِلِكَ وَفَوَاضِلِكَ

wa nawafilika wa fawadilika

grants, benefits,

وَفَضَائِلِكَ وَعَطَايَاكَ

wa fada'ilika wa `atayaka

bounties, and donations.

وَقَدْ غَدَوْتُ إِلَىٰ عِيدٍ مِنْ اعْيَادِ امَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ

wa qad ghadawtu ila `idin min a`yadi ummati nabiyyika muhammadin

I find myself celebrating one of the feasts commemorated by the nation of Your Prophet, Muhammad,

صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ

salawatu allahi `alayhi wa `ala alihi

blessings of Allah be upon him and his Household.

وَلَمْ افِدْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ اثِقُ بِهِ قَدَّمْتُهُ

wa lam afid ilayka alyawma bi`amalin salihin athiqu bihi qaddamtuhu

I have not come to You, today, carrying a righteous deeds that I may trust to present before You

وَلاَ تَوَجَّهْتُ بِمَخْلُوقٍ امَّلْتُهُ

wa la tawajjahtu bimakhluqin ammaltuhu

nor have I introduced a creature as my interceder before You;

وَلكِنْ اتَيْتُكَ خَاضِعاً

wa lakin ataytuka khadi`an

rather, I submissively draw near You

مُقِرّاً بِذُنُوبِي وَإِسَاءَتِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي

muqiran bidhunubi wa isa'ati ila nafsi

confessing of my wrongdoings and my offenses to myself.

فَيَا عَظِيمُ يَا عَظِيمُ يَا عَظِيمُ

faya `azimu ya `azimu ya `azimu

So, O All-great, O All-great, O All-great,

ٱغْفِرْ لِيَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي

ighfir liya al`azima min dhunubi

(please) forgive my grave wrongdoings,

فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ ٱلْعِظَامَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

fa innahu la yaghfiru aldhdhunuba al`izama illa anta

for, verily, no one can forgive serious transgressions save You.

يَا لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

ya la ilaha alla anta

O He save Whom there is no god!

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

ya arhama alrrahimina

O most Merciful of all the merciful!

B.The following is narrated through a chain of documents to Abi Abdullah As-Sadiq (as):

“When you stand up to pray, face the Qibla, exalt God and say the following,

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَ ابْنُ عَبْدَيْكَ هَارِبٌ مِنْكَ إِلَيْكَ أَتَيْتُكَ وَافِداً إِلَيْكَ مُتَأَوِّياً [مُنَاوِياً] مِنْ ذُنُوبِي إِلَيْكَ زَائِراً وَ حَقُّ الزَّائِرِ عَلَى الْمَزُورِ التُّحْفَةُ فَاجْعَلْ تُحْفَتِي مِنْكَ وَ تُحْفَتَكَ لِي رِضًا [رِضَاكَ‌] وَ الْجَنَّةَ

„O‟ my God! I am Your worshipping servant. I am the son of Your worshipping servant. I am fleeing from You to You! I have come to You willingly, repentant of my sins coming to visit you.And the right of one who visits upon the one being visited is a gift. Then please set aside a gift for me. Let Your gift for me be Your Pleasure and Paradise.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَظَّمْتَ حُرْمَةَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنَ

O‟ my God! You indeed have honored the Sacredness of the month of Ramadhan and You revealed the Qur‟an during it.

أَيْ رَبِّ وَ جَعَلْتَ فِيهِ لَيْلَةً خَيْراً مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ ثُمَّ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ بِصِيَامِهِ وَ قِيَامِهِ فِيمَا مَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ فَتَمِّمْ عَلَيَّ مِنْكَ وَ رَحْمَتَكَ

O‟ Lord! You established light in it that is better than a thousand months. Then You Favored me with fasting during it and staying up in what You Favored me with and You perfected Your Favor and Mercy to me.

أَيْ رَبِّ إِنَّ لَكَ فِيهِ عُتَقَاءَ فَإِنْ كُنْتُ مِمَّنْ أَعْتَقْتَنِي فِيهِ فَتَمِّمْ عَلَيَّ وَ لَا تَرُدَّنِي فِي ذَنْبٍ مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ فَعَلْتَ

O‟ Lord! You have freed ones during it, so please let me be one of those freed during it. So perfect it for me and do not let me return to sins for as long as I live.

يَا رَبِّ لِضَعْفِ عَمَلٍ أَوْ لِعِظَمِ ذَنْبٍ فَبِكَرَمِكَ وَ فَضْلِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ [وَ رَحَمَاتِكَ‌] وَ كِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ وَ مَا أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهَا وَ حُرْمَةَ مَنْ عَظَّمْتَ فِيهَا

O‟ Lord! However, if You do not do so it is due to my weak deeds, or great sins. So I ask You by Your Benevolence, Nobility, Mercy and Your Book which You sent down on the Night of Destiny in the month of Ramadhan, and what You revealed in it, and You exalted its sanctity.

وَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ وَ صَلَوَاتُكَ وَ بِكَ يَا اللَّهُ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ بِمَنْ بَعْدَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَتَوَجَّهُ بِكُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ يَا اللَّهُ أَعْتِقْنِي فِيمَنْ أَعْتَقْتَ السَّاعَةَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ.

And by Muhammad (as) and Ali (as) and by You O‟ God! I turn to You by Muhammad (as) and by those who came after him (as). Please bestow Blessings on them. I turn to God by them. O‟ God! Please let me be amongst the freed ones now for the sake of Muhammad (as).”
