اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَمَّ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya `amma rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O uncle of Allah’s Messenger,

[00:06.00]

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

peace be upon him and his Household.

[00:10.00]

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَيْرَ الشُّهَدَاۤءِ

as-salamu `alayka ya khayra alshshuhada'i

Peace be upon you, O best of martyrs.

[00:15.00]

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَاۤ اَسَدَ اللّٰهِ وَ اَسَدَ رَسُوْلِهِ

as-salamu `alayka ya asada allahi wa asada rasulihi

Peace be upon you, O Lion of Allah and of His Messenger.

[00:22.00]

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ جَاهَدْتَ فِيْ اللّٰهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ

ashhadu annaka qad jahadta fi allahi `azza wa jalla

I bear witness that you strove in the way of Allah—the All-mighty and All-majestic—,

[00:28.00]

وَ جُدْتَ بِنَفْسِكَ

wa judta binafsika

sacrificed yourself,

[00:32.00]

وَ نَصَحْتَ رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ

wa nasahta rasula allahi

acted sincerely towards Allah’s Messenger,

[00:35.00]

صَلَى الله عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

peace be upon him and his Household,

[00:40.00]

وَ كُنْتَ فِيْمَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ سُبْحَانَهُ رَاغِبًا

wa kunta fi ma `inda allahi subhanahu raghiban

and desired sincerely for that which is possessed by Allah, the Glorified.

[00:45.00]

بِاَبِيْۤ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّيْۤ

bi'abi anta wa ummi

May Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms for you!

[00:48.00]

اتَيْتُكَ مُتَقَرِّباً إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِزِيَارَتِكَ

ataytuka mutaqarriban ila allahi `azza wa jalla biziyaratika

I have come to you seeking nearness to Allah, the All-mighty and All-majestic, through visiting your tomb,

[00:56.00]

مُتَقَرِّبًا اِلٰى رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ

wa mutaqarriban ila rasuli allahi

and seeking nearness to Allah’s Messenger,

[00:58.00]

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ بِذٰلِكَ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi bidhalika

peace be upon him and his Household, through visiting your tomb, too.

[01:04.00]

رَاغِبًا اِلَيْكَ فِيْ الشَّفَاعَةِ

raghiban ilayka fi alshshafa`ati

I thus carry the desire that you may intercede for me.

[01:11.00]

اَبْتَغِيْ بِزِيَارَتِكَ خَلاصَ نَفْسِيْ

abtaghi biziyaratika khalasa nafsi

Through my visiting you, I also desire for redemption of myself,

[01:17.00]

مُتَعَوِّذًا بِكَ مِنْ نَارٍ ۟اِسْتَحَقَّهَا مِثْلِيْ

muta`awwidhan bika min narin istahaqqaha mithli

seeking your protection against the Fire that is deserved by my matches

[01:25.00]

بِمَا جَنَيْتُ عَلٰى نَفْسِيْ

bima janaytu `ala nafsi

for what I have done against myself,

[01:29.00]

هَارِبًا مِنْ ذُنُوْبِيَ

hariban min dhunubiya

fleeing from my sins

[01:32.00]

الَّتِيْ احْتَطَبْتُهَا عَلٰى ظَهْرِيْ

allati ihtatabtuha `ala zahri

that I have gathered on my shoulders,

[01:36.00]

فَزِعًا اِلَيْكَ رَجَاۤءَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّيْۤ

fazi`an ilayka raja'a rahmati rabbi

and turning to you for security, in the hope of gaining the mercy of my Lord.

[01:43.00]

اَتَيْتُكَ مِنْ شُقَّةٍ بَعِيْدَةٍ

ataytuka min shuqqatin ba`idatin

I have come to you from a far distance,

[01:50.00]

طَالِبًا فَكَاكَ رَقَبَتِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ

taliban fakaka raqabati min alnnari

seeking for release of my neck (i.e. self) from Hellfire

[01:56.00]

وَ قَدْ اَوْقَرَتْ ظَهْرِيْ ذُنُوْبِيْ

wa qad awqarat zahri dhunubi

although I have overburdened my back with my sins

[02:02.00]

، وَ اَتَيْتُ مَاۤ اَسْخَطَ رَبِّيْ

wa ataytu ma askhata rabbi

and I have committed that which enrages my Lord.

[02:08.00]

وَ لَمْ اَجِدْ اَحَدًا اَفْزَعُ اِلَيْهِ

wa lam ajid ahadan afza`u ilayhi

I cannot find anyone to whom I may resort

[02:13.00]

خَيْرًا لِيْ مِنْكُمْ اَهْلَ بَيْتِ الرَّحْمَةِ

khayran li minkum ahla bayti alrrahmati

better than you, the Household of Mercy;

[02:18.00]

فَكُنْ لِيْ شَفِيْعًا يَوْمَ فَقْرِيْ وَ حَاجَتِيْ

fakun li shafi`an yawma faqri wa hajati

so, (please) intercede for me on the day of my poverty and neediness,

[02:27.00]

فَقَدْ سِرْتُ اِلَيْكَ مَحْزُوْنًا

faqad sirtu ilayka mahzunan

for I have walked to you aggrieved,

[02:33.00]

وَ اَتَيْتُكَ مَكْرُوْبًا

wa ataytuka makruban

I have come to you distressed,

[02:37.00]

وَ سَكَبْتُ عَبْرَتِيْ عِنْدَكَ بَاكِيًا

wa sakabtu `abrati `indaka bakiyan

I have shed tears in your presence,

[02:45.00]

وَ صِرْتُ اِلَيْكَ مُفْرَدًا

wa sirtu ilayka mufradan

and I am now alone before you.

[02:50.00]

وَ اَنْتَ مِمَّنْ اَمَرَنِيَ اللّٰهُ بِصِلَتِهِ

wa anta mimman amaraniya allahu bisilatihi

You are of those with whom Allah has ordered me to build unbreakable ties,

[02:55.00]

وَ حَثَّنِيْ عَلٰى بِرِّهِ

wa haththani `ala birrihi

He has urged me to obey,

[02:59.00]

وَ دَلَّنِيْ عَلٰى فَضْلِهِ

wa dallani `ala fadlihi

He has shown me your merits,

[03:03.00]

وَ هَدَانِيْ لِحُبِّهِ

wa hadani lihubbihi

He has guided me to the love for you,

[03:06.00]

وَ رَغَّبَنِيْ فِي الْوِفَادَةِ اِلَيْهِ

wa raghghabani fi alwifadati ilayhi

He has encouraged me to get to you,

[03:10.00]

وَ اَلْهَمَنِيْ طَلَبَ الْحَوَاۤئِجِ عِنْدَهُ

wa alhamani talaba alhawa'iji `indahu

and He has inspired me to seek the settlement of my needs at your tombs.

[03:15.00]

اَنْتُمْ اَهْلُ بَيْتٍ لَا يَشْقٰى مَنْ تَوَلَّاكُمْ

antum ahlu baytin la yashqa man tawallakum

As for you the Ahl al-Bayt (the Household of the Prophet), whoever pays homage to you shall never encounter unhappiness,

[03:21.00]

وَ لَا يَخِيْبُ مَنْ اَتَاكُمْ

wa la yakhibu man atakum

whoever comes to you shall never be disappointed,

[03:25.00]

وَ لَا يَخْسَرُ مَنْ يَهْوَاكُمْ

wa la yakhsaru man yahwakum

and whoever loves you shall never fail,

[03:30.00]

وَ لَا يَسْعَدُ مَنْ عَادَاكُمْ۔

wa la yas`adu man `adakum

but whoever provokes the hostility of you shall never be pleased.You may then turn your face towards the kiblah direction and offer a two unit prayer. After accomplishment, you may throw yourself on the tomb and say the following words:

[03:46.00]

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.

[03:51.00]

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ تَعَرَّضْتُ لِرَحْمَتِكَ

allahumma inni ta`arradtu lirahmatika

O Allah, I expose myself to Your mercy

[03:56.00]

بِلُزُوْمِيْ لِقَبْرِ عَمِّ نَبِيِّكَ

biluzumi liqabri `ammi nabiyyika

as I attach myself to the tomb of Your Prophet’s uncle,

[04:01.00]

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

peace be upon Your Prophet and his Household

[04:06.00]

لِيُجِيْرَنِيْ مِنْ نِقْمَتِكَ

liyujirani min niqmatika wa sakhatika wa maqtika

so that he (i.e. Your Prophet’s uncle) may rescue me from Your chastisement, Your wrath, and Your ire

[04:11.00]

فِيْ يَوْمٍ تَكْثُرُ فِيْهِ الْاَصْوَاتُ

fi yawmin takthuru fihi al-aswatu

on the day when cries will be great in number,

[04:15.00]

وَ تَشْغَلُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ

wa tushghalu kullu nafsin bima qaddamat

when each soul will be engaged with what it has sent before,

[04:21.00]

وَ تُجَادِلُ عَنْ نَفْسِهَا

wa tujadilu `an nafsiha

and each soul will plead for itself.

[04:26.00]

فَاِنْ تَرْحَمْنِي الْيَوْمَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيَّ وَ لَا حُزْنٌ

fa'in tarhamni alyawma fala khawfun `alayya wa la huznun

If You have mercy upon me on that day, then neither fear nor grief shall come upon me.

[04:35.00]

وَ اِنْ تُعَاقِبْ فَمَوْلًى لَهُ الْقُدْرَةُ عَلٰى عَبْدِهِ

wa in tu`aqib famawlan lahu alqudratu `ala `abdihi

But if You punish me, then You are the Master Who has full power over His slave.

[04:43.00]

وَ لَا تُخَيِّبْنِيْ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ

wa la tukhayyibni ba`da alyawmi

Please, do not disappoint me any more after this day

[04:50.00]

وَ لَا تَصْرِفْنِيْ بِغَيْرِ حَاجَتِيْ

wa la tasrifni bighayri hajati

and do not cause me to leave without having my requests granted.

[04:58.00]

فَقَدْ لَصِقْتُ بِقَبْرِ عَمِّ نَبِيِّكَ

faqad lasiqtu biqabri `ammi nabiyyika

I have attached myself to the tomb of Your Prophet’s uncle

[05:06.00]

وَ تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ اِلَيْكَ ابْتِغَاۤءَ مَرْضَاتِكَ

wa taqarrabtu bihi ilayka ibtigha'a mardatika

and I have sought nearness to You through him in the hope of gaining Your pleasure

[05:14.00]

وَ رَجَاۤءَ رَحْمَتِكَ

wa raja'a rahmatika

and in the desire of winning Your mercy.

[05:17.00]

فَتَقَبَّلْ مِنِّيْ

fataqabbal minni

So, (please) accept from me

[05:20.00]

وَ عُدْ بِحِلْمِكَ عَلٰى جَهْلِيْ

wa `ud bihilmika `ala jahli

and confer upon my unreason with Your forbearance

[05:26.00]

وَ بِرَأْفَتِكَ عَلٰى جِنَايَةِ نَفْسِيْ

wa bira'fatika `ala jinayati nafsi

and upon my mistreatment against myself with Your kindness.

[05:30.00]

فَقَدْ عَظُمَ جُرْمِيْ

faqad `azum jurmi

My offenses are too great;

[05:35.00]

وَ مَاۤ اَخَافُ اَنْ تَظْلِمَنِيْ

wa ma akhafu an tazlimani

yet, I do not anticipate that You may wrong me,

[05:40.00]

وَ لٰكِنْ اَخَافُ سُوْۤءَ الْحِسَابِ،

wa lakin akhafu su'a alhisabi

but I anticipate terrible reckoning.

[05:45.00]

فَانْظُرِ الْيَوْمَ تَقَلُّبِيْ عَلٰى قَبْرِ عَمِّ نَبِيِّكَ

fanzur alyawma taqallubi `ala qabri `ammi nabiyyika

So, (please) on this day, notice my turning on the tomb of Your Prophet’s uncle;

[05:54.00]

فَبِهِمَا فُكَّنِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ

fabihima fukkani min alnnari

and, in the names of both of them (i.e. the Holy Prophet and his uncle), release me from Hellfire,

[06:01.00]

وَ لَا تُخَيِّبْ سَعْيِيْ

wa la tukhayyib sa`yi

do not frustrate my efforts,

[06:04.00]

وَ لَا يَهُوْنَنَّ عَلَيْكَ ابْتِهَالِيْ

wa la yahunanna `alayka ibtihali

do not belittle my invocation to You,

[06:09.00]

وَ لَا تَحْجُبَنَّ عَنْكَ صَوْتِيْ

wa la tahjubanna `anka sawti

do not cause my voice not to reach You,

[06:13.00]

وَ لَا تَقْلِبْنِيْ بِغَيْرِ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ

wa la taqlibni bighayri hawa'iji

and do not make me leave (this place) without having my needs settled for me.

[06:18.00]

يَا غِيَاثَ كُلِّ مَكْرُوْبٍ وَ مَحْزُوْنٍ

ya ghiyatha kulli makrubin wa mahzunin

O Succor of all aggrieved and saddened ones!

[06:23.00]

وَ يَا مُفَرِّجًا عَنِ الْمَلْهُوْفِ الْحَيْرَانِ

wa ya mufarrijan `an almalhufi alhayrani

O Reliever of the grieved, confused,

[06:28.00]

الْغَرِيْقِ الْمُشْرِفِ عَلَى الْهَلَكَةِ

alghariqi almushrifi `ala alhalakati

drowned, and perishable ones!

[06:33.00]

فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

(Please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

[06:38.00]

وَ انْظُرْ اِلَيَّ نَظْرَةً لَا اَشْقٰى بَعْدَهَا اَبَدًا

wanzur ilayya nazratan la ashqa ba`daha abadan

send to me a look (from You) that saves me from unhappiness forever,

[06:45.00]

وَ ارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعِيْ وَ عَبْرَتِيْ وَ انْفِرَادِيْ

warham tadarru`i wa `abrati wanfiradi

and have mercy upon my obtestation, tears, and loneliness.

[06:50.00]

، فَقَدْ رَجَوْتُ رِضَاكَ

faqad rajawtu ridaka

I do hope for Your pleasure

[06:56.00]

وَ تَحَرَّيْتُ الْخَيْرَ الَّذِيْ لَا يُعْطِيْهِ اَحَدٌ سِوَاكَ

wa taharraytu alkhayra alladhi la yu`tihi ahadun siwaka

and I seek for the good that none save You can provide;

[07:03.00]

فَلَا تَرُدَّ اَمَلِيْ

fala tarudda amali

so please do not disappoint me.

[07:08.00]

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ تُعَاقِبْ فَمَوْلًى لَهُ الْقُدْرَةُ عَلٰى عَبْدِهِ

allahumma in tu`aqib famawlan lahu alqudratu `ala `abdihi

O Allah, if You punish me, then You are the Master Who has full power over His slave

[07:18.00]

وَ جَزَاۤئِهِ بِسُوْۤءِ فِعْلِهِ

wa jaza'uhu su'u fi`lihi

and it is naught but my misdeeds that pulled me to Your punishment,

[07:24.00]

فَلَاۤ اَخِيْبَنَّ الْيَوْمَ

fala akhibanna alyawma

but I beg You not to disappoint me this day,

[07:28.00]

وَ لَا تَصْرِفْنِيْ بِغَيْرِ حَاجَتِيْ

wa la tasrifni bighayri hajati

not to make me leave without having my needs settled for me,

[07:32.00]

وَ لَا تُخَيِّبَنَّ شُخُوْصِيْ وَ وِفَادَتِيْ

wa la tukhayyibanna shukhusi wa wifadati

and not to disparage my presence and coming,

[07:38.00]

فَقَدْ اَنْفَدْتُ نَفَقَتِيْ

faqad anfadtu nafaqati

because I have spent all my disbursement,

[07:43.00]

وَ اَتْعَبْتُ بَدَنِيْ

wa at`abtu badani

caused fatigue to my body,

[07:46.00]

وَ قَطَعْتُ الْمَفَازَاتِ

wa qata`tu almafazati

crossed deserts,

[07:49.00]

وَ خَلَّفْتُ الْاَهْلَ وَ الْمَالَ وَ مَا خَوَّلْتَنِيْ

wa khallaftu al-ahla walmala wa ma khawwaltani

left my family, properties, and whatever You have put under my disposal,

[07:55.00]

وَ اٰثَرْتُ مَا عِنْدَكَ عَلٰى نَفْسِيْ

wa athartu ma `indaka `ala nafsi

preferred that which You have to myself,

[08:00.00]

وَ لُذْتُ بِقَبْرِ عَمِّ نَبِيِّكَ

wa ludhtu biqabri `ammi nabiyyika

and here I am seeking refuge in the tomb of Your Prophet’s uncle,

[08:05.00]

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

may peace be upon Your Prophet and his Household,

[08:08.00]

وَ تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ ابْتِغَاۤءَ مَرْضَاتِكَ

wa taqarrabtu bihi ibtigha'a mardatika

and sought his nearness—all that has been in the hope of gaining Your pleasure.

[08:13.00]

فَعُدْ بِحِلْمِكَ عَلٰى جَهْلِيْ

fa`ud bihilmika `ala jahli

So, (please) confer upon my unreason with Your forbearance

[08:17.00]

وَ بِرَأْفَتِكَ عَلٰى ذَنْبِيْ

wa bira'fatika `ala dhanbi

and upon my sins with Your kindness,

[08:20.00]

فَقَدْ عَظُمَ جُرْمِيْ

faqad `azuma jurmi

for my offense is grave.

[08:24.00]

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا كَرِيْمُ يَا كَرِيْمُ۔

birahmatika ya karimu ya karimu

(Please do that for me) in the name of Your mercy, O All-generous! O All-generous!

[08:32.00]

You may then repeat reciting Surah al-Qadr as many times as possible.
