اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي أَكْرَمَنِي بِمَعْرِفَتِهِ

alhamdu lillahi alladhi akramani bima`rifatihi

All praise be to Allah Who has honored me with the recognition of Him,

وَمَعْرِفَةِ رَسُولِهِ

wa ma`rifati rasulihi

the recognition of His Messenger,

وَمَنْ فَرَضَ عَلَيَّ طَاعَتَهُ

wa man farada `alayya ta`atahu

and the recognition of him the obedience to whom has been made incumbent upon me by Him

رَحْمَةً مِنْهُ لِي

rahmatan minhu li

on account of His mercy to me,

وَتَطَوُّلاًَ مِنْهُ عَلَيَّ

wa tatawwulan minhu `alayya

His favor that He bestowed upon me,

وَمَنَّ عَلَيَّ بِٱلإِيـمَانِ

wa manna `alayya bil'imani

and His conferral upon me with faith.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي أَدْخَلَنِي حَرَمَ أَخِي رَسُولِهِ

alhamdu lillahi alladhi adkhalani harama akhi rasulihi

All praise be to Allah Who has allowed me to enter the shrine of His Messenger’s brother

وَأَرَانِيهِ فِي عَافِيَةٍ

wa aranihi fi `afiyatin

and has made me see this shrine while I enjoy good health.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَنِي مِنْ زُوَّارِ قَبْرِ وَصِيِّ رَسُولِهِ

alhamdu lillahi alladhi ja`alani min zuwwari qabri wasiyyi rasulihi

All praise be to Allah Who has included me with the visitors of the tomb of His Messenger’s successor.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاََ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ ٱللَّهُ

ashhadu an la ilaha illa allahu

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,

وَحْدَهُ لاََ شَرِيكَ لَهُ

wahdahu la sharika lahu

alone without having any associate,

وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

wa ashhadu anna muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluhu

and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.

جَاءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مِنْ عِنْدِ ٱللَّهِ

ja'a bilhaqqi min `indi allahi

He has conveyed the truth from Allah.

وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ وَأَخُو رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

wa ashhadu anna `aliyyan `abdu allahi wa akhu rasuli allahi

And I bear witness that `Ali is the servant of Allah and the brother of Allah’s Messenger.

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ٱللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ٱللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

allahu akbaru allahu akbaru allahu akbaru

Allah is the Most Great. Allah is the Most Great. Allah is the Most Great.

لاََ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَٱللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

la ilaha illa allahu wallahu akbaru

There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Most Great.

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَىٰ هِدَايَتِهِ

walhamdu lillahi `ala hidayatihi

All praise be to Allah for He has guided me

وَتَوْفِيقِهِ لِمَا دَعَا إِلَيْهِ مِنْ سَبِيلِهِ

wa tawfiqihi lima da`a ilayhi min sabilihi

and led me successfully to His course to which He has invited (us).

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ أَفْضَلُ مَقْصُودٍ

allahumma innaka afdalu maqsudin

O Allah, You are verily the most excellent besought One

وَأَكْرَمُ مَأْتِيٍّ

wa akramu matiyyin

and the most honorable purposed One.

وَقَدْ أَتَيْتُكَ مُتَقَرِّباً إِلَيْكِ

wa qad ataytuka mutaqarriban ilayka

I thus have come to You, seeking nearness to You

بِنَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ

binabiyyika nabiyyi alrrahmati

in the name of Your Prophet, the Prophet of Mercy

وَبِأَخِيهِ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa bi'akhihi amiri almu'minina

and in the name of his brother, the Commander of the Faithful,

عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِمَا ٱلسَّلاَمُ

`aliyyi bni abi talibin `alayhima as-salamu

`Ali the son of Abu-Talib—peace be upon them both.

فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

So, (please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَلاَ تُخَيِّبْ سَعْيِي

wa la tukhayyib sa`yi

do not disappoint my efforts,

وَٱنْظُرْ إِلَيَّ نَظْرَةً رَحيمَةً تُنْعَشُنِي بِهَا

wanzur ilayya nazratan rahimatan tun`ishuni biha

(please) grant me a merciful look from You through which You refresh me,

وَٱجْعَلْنِي عِنْدَكَ وَجِيهاً فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ

waj`alni `indaka wajihan fi alddunya wal-akhirati

make me illustrious in Your view in this world as well as the world to come,

وَمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

wa min almuqarrabina

and make me of those brought near to You.
