بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

bis-millahir-rahmanir-rahim

In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي وَقَفْتُ عَلَىٰ بَابٍ

allahumma inni waqaftu `ala babin

O Allah, I am standing at one of the doors

[00:10.00]

مِنْ ابْوَابِ بُيُوتِ نَبِيِّكَ

min abwabi buyuti nabiyyika

of Your Prophet’s Houses—

[00:14.00]

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

salawatuka `alayhi wa alihi

may Your blessings be upon him and his Household.

[00:19.00]

وَقَدْ مَنَعْتَ ٱلنَّاسَ انْ يَدْخُلُوٱ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ

wa qad mana`ta alnnasa an yadkhulu illa bi'idhnihi

And You have prevented people to enter there before they obtain his permission.

[00:25.00]

فَقُلْتَ: ”يَا ايُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوٱ

faqulta ya ayyuha alladhina amanu

You have thus said, “O ye who believe!

[00:32.00]

لاََ تَدْخُلُوٱ بُيُوتَ ٱلنَّبِيِّ إِلاَّ انْ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ“

la tadkhulu buyuta alnnabiyyi illa an yu'dhana lakum

Enter not the Prophet's houses until leave is given you.”

[00:38.00]

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اعْتَقِدُ حُرْمَةَ صَاحِبِ هٰذَا ٱلْمَشْهَدِ ٱلشَّريفِ فِي غَيْبَتِهِ

allahumma inni a`taqidu hurmata sahibi hadha almashhadi alshsharifi fi ghaybatihi

O Allah, I believe in the sanctity of the owner of this holy shrine in his absence

[00:50.00]

كَمَا اعْتَقِدُهَا فِي حَضْرَتِهِ

kama a`taqiduha fi hadratihi

as same as I believe in it in his presence.

[00:54.00]

وَاعْلَمُ انَّ رَسُولَكَ وَخُلَفَاءَكَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

wa a`lamu anna rasulaka wa khulafa'aka `alayhimu as-salamu

I also know for sure that Your Messenger and Your Representatives—peace be upon them

[01:03.00]

احْيَاءٌ عِنْدَكَ يُرْزَقُونَ

ahya'un `indaka yurzaquna

are live, finding their sustenance in the presence of You;

[01:09.00]

يَرَوْنَ مَقَامِي

yarawna maqami

they can see my place,

[01:13.00]

وَيَسْمَعُوَن كَلاَمِي

wa yasma`una kalami

hear my words,

[01:16.00]

وَيَرُدُّونَ سَلاَمِي

wa yarudduna salami

and respond to my greetings,

[01:20.00]

وَاَنِّكَ حَجَبْتَ عَنْ سَمْعِي كَلاَمَهُمْ

wa annaka hajabta `an sam`i kalamahum

but You have prevented my hearing from receiving their words

[01:27.00]

وَفَتَحْتَ بَابَ فَهْمِي بِلَذِيذِ مُنَاجَاتِهِمْ

wa fatahta baba fahmi biladhidhi munajatihim

and You have opened the door of my understanding to taste the fine flavor of my confidential speech with

[01:33.00]

وَإِنِّي اسْتَاذِنُكَ يَا رَبِّ اوَّلاًَ

wa inni asta'dhinuka ya rabbi awwalan

I thus ask Your permission—O my Lord—first of all,

[01:39.00]

وَاسْتَاذِنُ رَسُولَكَ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ ثَانِياً

wa asta'dhinu rasulaka salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi thaniyan

the permission of Your Prophet—peace be upon him and his Household—secondly,

[01:47.00]

وَاسْتَاذِنُ خَليفَتَكَ ٱلإِمَامَ

wa asta'dhinu khalifataka al'imama

the permission of Your Representative, the Imam

[01:52.00]

ٱلْمَفْرُوضَ عَلَيَّ طَاعَتُهُ…

almafruda `alayya ta`atuhu

the obedience to whom is incumbent upon me… You may now mention the name of the Imam that you are visiting his holy shrine and also mention the name of his father. For instance, if you are visiting the holy shrine of Imam al-Husayn (‘a), you may say, “al-Husayn ibn `Ali—peace be upon him.” And if you are visiting the holy shrine of Imam al-Rida (‘a), you may say, “`Ali ibn Musa al-Rida—peace be upon him” and so on. You may then say:

[01:57.00]

وَٱلْمَلاَئِكَةَ ٱلْمُوَكَّلينَ بِهٰذِهِ ٱلْبُقْعَةِ ٱلْمُبَارَكَةِ ثَالِثاً

walmala'ikata almuwakkalina bihadhihi albuq`ati almubarakati thalithan

…and the permission of the angels whom are commissioned to supervise this blessed area, thirdly.

[02:08.00]

اادْخُلُ يَا رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ

a'adkhulu ya rasula allahi

May I enter, O Messenger of Allah?

[02:12.00]

اادْخُلُ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ

a'adkhulu ya hujjata allahi

May I enter, O Argument of Allah?

[02:17.00]

اادْخُلُ يَا مَلاَئِكَةَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

a'adkhulu ya mala'ikata allahi almuqarrabina

May I enter, O angels of Allah—the intimate,

[02:25.00]

ٱلْمُقِيمِينَ فِي هٰذَا ٱلْمَشْهَدِ

almuqimina fi hadha almashhadi

the residing in this shrine?

[02:32.00]

فَاذَنْ لِي يَا مَوْلاَيَ فِي ٱلدُّخُولِ

fa'dhan li ya mawlaya fi alddukhuli

So, (please do) permit me to enter, O my Master,

[02:36.00]

افْضَلَ مَا اذِنْتَ لاِحَدٍ مِنْ اوْلِيَائِكَ

afdala ma adhinta li'ahadin min awliya'ika

in the best way of permission that you have ever conferred upon any of your intimate adherents.

[02:43.00]

فَإِنْ لَمْ اكُنْ اهْلاًَ لِذٰلِكَ

fa'in lam akun ahlan lidhalika

If I do not deserve such permission,

[02:48.00]

فَانْتَ اهْل ٌ لِذٰلِكَ

fa'anta ahlun lidhalika

then you are worthy of conferring it upon me. You may then kiss the holy doorstep (of the shrine) and enter, saying:

[02:51.00]

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِٱللَّهِ

bismi allahi wa billahi

In the Name of Allah (I begin), in Allah (I trust),

[02:56.00]

وَفِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

wa fi sabili allahi

on the way of Allah (I proceed),

[03:01.00]

وَعَلَىٰ مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

wa `ala millati rasuli allahi

and on the norm of the Messenger of Allah,

[03:06.00]

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

may Allah bless him and his Household.

[03:11.00]

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱغْفِرْ لِي

allahumma ighfir li

O Allah, (please do) forgive me,

[03:14.00]

وَٱرْحَمْنِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ

warhamni wa tub `alayya

have mercy upon me, and accept my repentance,

[03:18.00]

إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

innaka anta alttawwabu alrrahimu

for You are verily the Oft-Returning, the All-Merciful. Second: Following is the form of asking permission that is reported by `Allamah al-Majlisi—may Allah sanctify his soul—from an old copy of a book written by one of our old scholars who had mentioned that it is a form of asking permission to enter the Holy Vault (Sirdab) and the illuminative shrines of the Holy Imams (‘a):

[03:22.00]

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هٰذِهِ بُقْعَةٌ طَهَّرْتَهَا

allahumma inna hadhihi buq`atun tahhartaha

O Allah, this is verily an area that You have purified,

[03:29.00]

وَعَقْوَةٌ شَرَّفْتَهَا

wa `aqwatun sharraftaha

a courtyard that You have honored,

[03:32.00]

وَمَعَالِمُ زَكَّيْتَهَا

wa ma`alimu zakkaytaha

and landmarks that You have ennobled

[03:36.00]

حَيْثُ اظْهَرْتَ فِيهَا ادِلَّةَ ٱلتَّوْحِيدِ

haythu azharta fiha adillata alttawhidi

when You have shown therein the proofs on Your Oneness

[03:43.00]

وَاشْبَاحَ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدِ

wa ashbaha al`arshi almajidi

and the ghosts of the Glorious Throne

[03:47.00]

ٱلَّذينَ ٱِصْطَفَيْتَهُمْ مُلُوكاً لِحِفْظِ ٱلنِّظَامِ

alladhina istafaytahum mulukan lihifzi alnnzami

whom You have selected as kings maintaining the System (of the universe),

[03:55.00]

وَٱخْتَرْتَهُمْ رُؤَسَاءَ لِجَمِيعِ ٱلانَامِ

wakhtartahum ru'asa'a lijami`i al-anami

You have chosen them as chiefs of all beings,

[04:01.00]

وَبَعَثْتَهُمْ لِقِيَامِ الْقِسْطِ

wa ba`athtahum liqiyami alqisti

and You have sent them for standing out firmly for justice

[04:06.00]

فِي ٱبْتِدَاءِ ٱلْوُجُودِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ

fi ibtida'i alwujudi ila yawmi alqiyamati

since the beginning of existence and up to the Resurrection Day.

[04:11.00]

ثُمَّ مَنَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِٱسْتِنَابَةِ انْبِيَائِكَ

thumma mananta `alayhim bistinabati anbiya'ika

You have then conferred upon them with the grace of their representing Your Prophets

[04:18.00]

لِحِفْظِ شَرَايِعِكَ وَاحْكَامِكَ

lihifzi shara'i`ika wa ahkamika

in the matters of maintaining Your rules and laws.

[04:23.00]

فَاكْمَلْتَ بِٱسْتِخْلاَفِهِمْ رِسَالَةَ ٱلْمُنْذِرِينَ

fa'akmalta bistikhlafihim risalata almundhirina

You have thus perfected, through assigning them as successors of Your Prophets, the Mission of the warning Prophets

[04:31.00]

كَمَا اوْجَبْتَ رِيَاسَتَهُمْ فِي فِطَرِ ٱلْمُكَلَّفِينَ

kama awjabta ri'asatahum fi fitari almukallafina

in the same way as You have made their leadership incumbent since the first creation of all peoples who are responsible for carrying out Your duties.

[04:37.00]

فَسُبْحَانَكَ مِنْ إِلٰهٍ مَا ارْافَكَ

fasubhanaka min ilahin ma ar'afaka

Glory be to You; what a Compassionate Lord Your are!

[04:44.00]

وَلاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ مِنْ مَلِكٍ مَا اعْدَلَكَ

wa la ilaha illa anta min malikin ma a`dalaka

There is no god save You; what a Just King You are!

[04:52.00]

حَيْثُ طَابَقَ صُنْعُكَ مَا فَطَرْتَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْعُقُولَ

haythu tabaqa sun`uka ma fatarta `alayhi al`uqula

Your making has corresponded with all that on which You have created the intellects,

[04:59.00]

وَوَافَقَ حُكْمُكَ مَا قَرَّرْتَهُ فِي ٱلْمَعْقُولِ وَٱلْمَنْقُولِ

wa wafaqa hukmuka ma qarrartahu fi alma`quli walmanquli

and Your laws have concurred with that which You have decided, including the logic and the narrated.

[05:09.00]

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ عَلَىٰ تَقْدِيرِكَ ٱلْحَسَنِ ٱلْجَمِيلِ

falaka alhamdu `ala taqdirika alhasani aljamili

Praise be to You for Your arrangement—the fine and excellent.

[05:15.00]

وَلَكَ ٱلشُّكْرُ عَلَىٰ قَضَائِكَ ٱلْمُعَلَّلِ بِاكْمَلِ ٱلتَّعْلِيلِ

wa laka alshshukru `ala qada'ika almu`allali bi'akmali altta`lili

Thanks be to You for Your ordain that is outstandingly founded.

[05:24.00]

فَسُبْحَانَ مَنْ لاََ يُسْالُ عَنْ فِعْلِهِ

fasubhana man la yus'alu `an fi`lihi

Glory be to Him Whom is not asked about whatever He does,

[05:29.00]

وَلاَ يُنَازِعُ فِي امْرِهِ

wa la yunaza`u fi amrihi

and Whom is not disputed about whatever He decides.

[05:35.00]

وَسُبْحَانَ مَنْ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ

wa subhana man kataba `ala nafsihi alrrahmata

Glory be to Him Who has inscribed mercy for Himself

[05:41.00]

قَبْلَ ٱبْتِدَاءِ خَلْقِهِ

qabla ibtida'i khalqihi

before He started creation.

[05:46.00]

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي مَنَّ عَلَيْنَا

walhamdu lillahi alladhi manna `alayna

Praise be to Allah Who has conferred upon us

[05:51.00]

بِحُكَّامٍ يَقُومُونَ مَقَامَهُ

bihukkamin yaqumuna maqamahu

with the favor of assigning rulers who represent Him

[05:56.00]

لَوْ كَانَ حَاضِراً فِي ٱلْمَكَانِ

law kana hadiran fi almakani

as if He is present therein.

[06:01.00]

وَلاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي شَرَّفَنَا بِاوْصِيَاءَ

wa la ilaha illa allahu alladhi sharrafana bi'awsiya'a

There is no god save Allah Who has honored us with Successors

[06:07.00]

يَحْفَظُونَ ٱلشَّرَايِعَ فِي كُلِّ ٱلازْمَانِ

yahfazuna alshshara'i`a fi kulli al'azmani

maintaining the (Divine) laws in all ages.

[06:14.00]

وَٱللَّهُ اكْبَرُ ٱلَّذِي اظْهَرَهُمْ لَنَا

wallahu akbaru alladhi azharahum lana

Allah is the Most Great for He has demonstrated them before us

[06:19.90]

بِمُعْجِزَاتٍ يَعْجَزُ عَنْهَا ٱلثَّقَلاَنِ

bimu`jizatin ya`jazu `anha alththaqalani

through miracles that neither men nor can the jinn do.

[06:26.00]

لاََ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَلِيِّ ٱلْعَظيمِ

la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`azimi

There is no power and no might save with Allah, the Most High, the All-great,

[06:34.00]

ٱلَّذِي اجْرَانَا عَلَىٰ عَوَائِدِهِ ٱلْجَمِيلَةِ فِي ٱلامَمِ ٱلسَّالِفينَ

alladhi ajrana `ala `awa'idihi aljamilati fi al'umami alssalifina

Who has accustomed us to receive His favorable donations that He did to the ancient nations.

[06:43.00]

اَللَّهُمَّ فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَٱلثَّنَاءُ ٱلْعَلِيُّ

allahumma falaka alhamdu walththana'u al`aliyyu

O Allah, all praise be to You and elevated thanks be to You

[06:50.00]

كَمَا وَجَبَ لِوَجْهِكَ ٱلْبَقَاءُ ٱلسَّرْمَدِيُّ

kama wajaba liwajhika albaqa'u alssarmadiyyu

as eternal existence has been confirmed for Your Face,

[06:56.00]

وَكَمَا جَعَلْتَ نَبِيَّنَا خَيْرَ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

wa kama ja`alta nabiyyana khayra alnnabiyyina

and as You have chosen our Prophet to be the best of Prophets

[07:02.00]

وَمُلُوكَنَا افْضَلَ ٱلْمَخْلُوقِينَ

wa mulukana afdala almakhluqina

and our kings to be the best of the creatures,

[07:07.00]

وَٱخْتَرْتَهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

wakhtartahum `ala `ilmin `ala al`alamina

and You have chosen them aforetime above the nations knowingly.

[07:13.00]

وَفِّقْنَا للِسَّعْيِ إِلَىٰ ابْوَابِهِمُ ٱلْعَامِرَةِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

waffiqna lilssa`yi ila abwabihim al`amirati ila yawmi alddini

(Please do) grant us prosperity to stand at the doorsteps of their flourishing shrines up to the Resurrection Day,

[07:22.00]

وَٱجْعَلْ ارْوَاحَنَا تَحِنُّ إِلَىٰ مَوْطِئِ اقْدَامِهِمْ

waj`al arwahana tahinnu ila mawti'i aqdamihim

make our souls long for the places of their feet,

[07:29.00]

وَنُفُوسَنَا تَهْوَىٰ النَّظَرَ إِلَىٰ مَجَالِسِهِمْ وَعَرَصَاتِهِمْ

wa nufusana tahwa alnnazara ila majalisihim wa `arasatihim

and make our spirits desire for looking at their sessions and courtyards

[07:37.00]

حَتَّىٰ كَانَّنَا نُخَاطِبُهُمْ فِي حُضُورِ اشْخَاصِهِمْ

hatta ka'nnana nukhatibuhum fi huduri ashkhasihim

as if we can talk to them in their presence.

[07:45.00]

فَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ سَادَةٍ غَائِبينَ

fasalla allahu `alayhim min sadatin gha'ibina

May Allah bless them; they are absent masters,

[07:51.00]

وَمِنْ سُلاَلَةٍ طَاهِرِينَ

wa min sulalatin tahirina

immaculate progeny,

[07:57.00]

وَمِنْ ائِمَّةٍ مَعْصُومِينَ

wa min a'immatin ma`sumina

and infallible leaders.

[08:01.00]

اَللَّهُمَّ فَاذَنْ لَنَا بِدُخُولِ هٰذِهِ ٱلْعَرَصَاتِ

allahumma fa'dhan lana bidukhuli hadhihi al`arasati

O Allah, (please do) permit us to enter these courtyards

[08:08.00]

ٱلَّتِي ٱسْتَعْبَدْتَ بِزِيَارَتِهَا اهْلَ ٱلارَضِينَ وَٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ

allati ista`badta biziyaratiha ahla al-aradina walssamawati

that You have ordered the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth to visit them as sign of worship to You,

[08:15.00]

وَارْسِلْ دُمُوعَنَا بِخُشُوعِ ٱلْمَهَابَةِ

wa arsil dumu`ana bikhushu`i almahabati

make our eyes shed tears of reverence for their dignity,

[08:23.00]

وَذَلِّلْ جَوَارِحَنَا بِذُلِّ ٱلْعُبُودِيِّةِ وَفَرْضِ ٱلطَّاعَةِ

wa dhallil jawarihana bidhulli al`ubudiyyati wa fardi altta`ati

and make our organs show humility of servitude and of obligatory obedience (to You),

[08:30.00]

حَتَّىٰ نُقِرَّ بِمَا يَجِبُ لَهُمْ مِنَ ٱلاوْصَافِ

hatta nuqirra bima yajibu lahum min al-awsafi

so that we will confess of the qualities that are fixed for them

[08:36.00]

وَنَعْتَرِفَ بِانَّهُمْ شُفَعَاءُ ٱلْخَلاَيِقِ

wa na`tarifa bi'annahum shufa`a'u alkhala'iqi

and to admit that they are the interceders for the creatures

[08:43.00]

إِذَا نُصِبَتِ ٱلْمَوَازِينُ فِي يَوْمِ ٱلاعْرَافِ

idha nusibat almawazinu fi yawmi al-a`rafi

when the Scale shall be set up on the Heights Day.

[08:49.00]

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلاَمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَىٰ

walhamdu lillahi wa salamun `ala `ibadihi alladhina istafa

All praise be to Allah and peace be upon His servants that He has chosen;

[08:58.00]

مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

muhammadin wa alihi alttahirina

Muhammad and His Immaculate Household.

[09:05.00]

اللّهُمّ صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah: (please do) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
