The Jinn
Surah-72 | Ayahs-28
Before reciting Holy Quran
[00:00.01]
بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
[00:00.02]
قُلْ اُوْحِىَ اِلَىَّ اَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوْۤا اِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْاٰنًاعَجَبًا ۙ﴿1﴾
1.Qul oohiya ilaiya annna hustama'a nafarum minal jinnni faqaalooo innaa sami'naa quraanan 'ajabaa
1.Say, ‘It has been revealed to me that a team of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, “Indeed we heard a wonderful Quran,

يَّهْدِىْۤ اِلَى الرُّشْدِ فَاٰمَنَّا بِهٖ ؕ وَلَنْ نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَاۤ اَحَدًا ۙ﴿2﴾
2.Yahdeee ilar rushdi fa aamannaa bihee wa lan nushrika bi rabbinaaa ahadaa
2.which guides to rectitude. Hence, we have believed in it and we will never ascribe any partner to our Lord.

وَّاَنَّهٗ تَعٰلٰى جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَّلَا وَلَدًا ۙ﴿3﴾
3.Wa annahoo Ta'aalaa jaddu Rabbinaa mat takhaza saahibatanw wa la waladaa
3.Exalted be the majesty of our Lord; He has taken neither any spouse nor son.

وَّ اَنَّهٗ كَانَ يَقُوْلُ سَفِيْهُنَا عَلَى اللّٰهِ شَطَطًا ۙ﴿4﴾
4.Wa annahoo kaana yaqoolu safeehunaa 'alal laahi shatataa
4.The foolish ones among us used to speak atrocious lies concerning Allah.
[00:41.00]
وَّاَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ اَنْ لَّنْ تَقُوْلَ الْاِنْسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا ۙ﴿5﴾
5.Wa annaa zanannaaa al lan taqoolal insu wal jinnu 'alal laahi kazibaa
5.We thought that humans and jinn would never utter any falsehood concerning Allah.
[00:53.00]
وَّاَنَّهٗ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ الْاِنْسِ يَعُوْذُوْنَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوْهُمْ رَهَقًا ۙ﴿6﴾
6.Wa annahoo kaana rijaa lum minal insi ya'oozoona birijaalim minal jinni fazaa doohum rahaqaa
6.Indeed some persons from the humans would seek the protection of some persons from the jinn, thus only adding to their rebellion.
[01:06.00]
وَّاَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوْا كَمَا ظَنَنْتُمْ اَنْ لَّنْ يَّبْعَثَ اللّٰهُ اَحَدًا ۙ﴿7﴾
7.Wa annahum zannoo kamaa zanantum al lany yab'asal laahu ahadaa
7.They thought, just as you think, that Allah will not raise anyone from the dead.
[01:16.00]
وَّاَنَّا لَمَسْنَا السَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيْدًا وَّشُهُبًا ۙ﴿8﴾
8.Wa annaa lamasnas sa maaa'a fa wajadnaahaa muli'at harasan shadeedanw wa shuhubaa
8.Indeed we made for the heaven and found it full of mighty sentries and flames.
[01:28.00]
وَّاَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ؕ فَمَنْ يَّسْتَمِعِ الْاٰنَ يَجِدْ لَهٗ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا ۙ﴿9﴾
9.Wa annaa kunnaa naq'udu minhaa maqaa'ida lis'sam'i famany yastami'il aana yajid lahoo shihaabar rasada
9.We used to sit in its positions to eavesdrop, but anyone listening now finds a flame waiting for him.
[01:41.00]
وَّاَنَّا لَا نَدْرِىْۤ اَشَرٌّ اُرِيْدَ بِمَنْ فِى الْاَرْضِ اَمْ اَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًا ۙ﴿10﴾
10.Wa annaa laa nadreee asharrun ureeda biman fil ardi am araada bihim rabbuhum rashadaa
10.We do not know whether ill is intended for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intends good for them.
[01:53.00]
وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الصّٰلِحُوْنَ وَمِنَّا دُوْنَ ذٰلِكَؕ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدًا ۙ﴿11﴾
11.Wa annaa minnas saalihoona wa minnaa doona zaalika kunnaa taraaa'ilqa qidadaa
11.Among us some are righteous and some are otherwise: we are various sects.
[02:06.00]
وَّاَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ اَنْ لَّنْ نُّعْجِزَ اللّٰهَ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَنْ نُّعْجِزَهٗ هَرَبًا ۙ﴿12﴾
12.Wa annaa zanannaaa al lan nu'jizal laaha fil ardi wa lan nu'jizahoo harabaa
12.We know that we cannot frustrate Allah on the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by fleeing.
[02:18.00]
وَّاَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا الْهُدٰٓى اٰمَنَّا بِهٖ ؕ فَمَنْ يُّؤْمِنْۢ بِرَبِّهٖ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًا وَّلَا رَهَقًا ۙ﴿13﴾
13.Wa annaa lammaa sami'nal hudaaa aamannaa bihee famany yu'mim bi rabbihee falaa yakhaafu bakhsanw wa laa rahaqaa
13.When we heard the [message of] guidance, we believed in it. Whoever that has faith in his Lord will fear neither privation nor oppression.
[02:35.00]
وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الْمُسْلِمُوْنَ وَمِنَّا الْقٰسِطُوْنَؕ فَمَنْ اَسْلَمَ فَاُولٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا رَشَدًا﴿14﴾
14.Wa annaa minnal muslimoona wa minnal qaasitoona faman aslama fa ulaaa'ika taharraw rashadaa
14.Among us some are Muslims and some of us are perverse.” ’ Those who submit [to Allah]—it is they who pursue rectitude.
[02:50.00]
وَاَمَّا الْقٰسِطُوْنَ فَكَانُوْا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا ۙ﴿15﴾
15.Wa ammal qaasitoona fa kaanoo li jahannama hatabaa
15.As for the perverse, they will be firewood for hell.
[02:57.00]
وَّاَنْ لَّوِ اسْتَقَامُوْا عَلَى الطَّرِيْقَةِ لَاَسْقَيْنٰهُمْ مَّآءً غَدَقًا ۙ﴿16﴾
16.Wa alla wis taqaamoo 'alat tareeqati la asqaynaahum maa'an ghadaqaa
16.If they are steadfast on the path [of Allah], We shall provide them with abundant water,
[03:07.00]
لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيْهِ ؕ وَمَنْ يُّعْرِضْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ رَبِّهٖ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًا صَعَدًا ۙ﴿17﴾
17.Linaftinahum feeh; wa many yu'rid 'an zikri rabbihee yasluk hu 'azaaban sa'adaa
17.so that We may test them therein, and whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will let him into an escalating punishment.
[03:19.00]
وَّاَنَّ الْمَسٰجِدَ لِلّٰهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوْا مَعَ اللّٰهِ اَحَدًا ۙ﴿18﴾
18.Wa annal masaajida lillaahi falaa tad'oo ma'al laahi ahadaa
18.The places of worship belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone along with Allah.
[03:27.00]
وَّاَنَّهٗ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللّٰهِ يَدْعُوْهُ كَادُوْا يَكُوْنُوْنَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا ؕ۠ ﴿19﴾
19.Wa annahoo lammaa qaama 'adul laahi yad'oohu kaadoo yakoonoona 'alaihi libadaa
19.When the servant of Allah rose to pray to Him, they almost crowded around him.
[03:37.00]
قُلْ اِنَّمَاۤ اَدْعُوْا رَبِّىْ وَلَاۤ اُشْرِكُ بِهٖۤ اَحَدًا﴿20﴾
20.Qul innamaaa ad'oo rabbee wa laaa ushriku biheee ahadaa
20.Say, ‘I pray only to my Lord, and I do not ascribe any partner to Him.’
[03:48.00]
قُلْ اِنِّىْ لَاۤ اَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا رَشَدًا﴿21﴾
21.Qul innee laaa amliku lakum darranw wa laa rashadaa
21.Say, ‘I have no power to bring you any harm or good [of my own accord].’
[03:57.00]
قُلْ اِنِّىْ لَنْ يُّجِيْرَنِىْ مِنَ اللّٰهِ اَحَدٌ ۬ ۙ وَّلَنْ اَجِدَ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ مُلْتَحَدًا ۙ﴿22﴾
22.Qul innee lany yujeeranee minal laahi ahad, wa lan ajida min doonihee multahadaa
22.Say, ‘Neither can anyone shelter me from Allah, nor can I find any refuge besides Him.
[04:08.00]
اِلَّا بَلٰغًا مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَرِسٰلٰتِهٖ ؕ وَمَنْ يَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ فَاِنَّ لَهٗ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَاۤ اَبَدًا ؕ﴿23﴾
23.Illaa balaagham minal laahi wa risaalaatih; wa many ya'sil laaha wa rasoolahoo fa inna lahoo naara jahannama khaalideena feehaaa abadaa
23.[I have no duty] except to transmit from Allah, and [to communicate] His messages; and whoever disobeys Allah and His apostle, there will indeed be for him the fire of hell, to remain in it forever.’
[04:32.00]
حَتّٰٓى اِذَا رَاَوْا مَا يُوْعَدُوْنَ فَسَيَعْلَمُوْنَ مَنْ اَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًا وَّاَقَلُّ عَدَدًا﴿24﴾
24.Hattaaa izaa ra aw maa yoo'adoona fasaya'lamoona man ad'afu naasiranw wa aqallu 'adadaa
24.When they see what they are promised, they will know who is weaker in supporters and fewer in numbers.
[04:44.00]
قُلْ اِنْ اَدْرِىْۤ اَقَرِيْبٌ مَّا تُوْعَدُوْنَ اَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهٗ رَبِّىْۤ اَمَدًا﴿25﴾
25.Qul in adreee a qareebum maa too'adoona am yaj'alu lahoo rabbeee amadaa
25.Say, ‘I do not know if what you are promised is near, or if my Lord has set a [long] term for it.’
[04:55.00]
عٰلِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلٰى غَيْبِهٖۤ اَحَدًا ۙ﴿26﴾
26.'Aalimul ghaibi falaa yuzhiru alaa ghaibiheee ahadaa
26.Knower of the Unseen, He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] Unseen to anyone,
[05:03.00]
اِلَّا مَنِ ارْتَضٰى مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ فَاِنَّهٗ يَسْلُكُ مِنْۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهٖ رَصَدًا ۙ﴿27﴾
27.Illaa manir tadaa mir rasoolin fa innahoo yasluku mim baini yadihi wa min khalfihee rasadaa
27.except to an apostle He approves of. Then He dispatches a sentinel before and behind him
[05:15.00]
لِّيَعْلَمَ اَنْ قَدْ اَبْلَغُوْا رِسٰلٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَاَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَاَحْصٰى كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًا۠ ﴿28﴾
28.Liya'lama an qad ablaghoo risaalaati rabbihim wa ahaata bima ladihim wa ahsaa kulla shai'in 'adadaa
28.so that He may ascertain that they have communicated the messages of their Lord, and He encompasses all that is with them, and He keeps an count of all things.
