5.Afanadribu 'ankumuz Zikra safhan an kuntum qawmam musrifeen

6.Wa kam arsalnaa min Nabiyyin fil awwaleen
6.How many a prophet We have sent to the former peoples!
[00:49.00]
7.Wa maa yaateehim min Nabiyyin illaa kaanoo bihee yasahzi'oon
7.There did not come to them any prophet but that they used to deride him.
[01:00.00]
8.Fa ahlaknaaa ashadda minhum batshanw wa madaa masalul lawwaleen
8.So We destroyed those who were stronger than these, and the example of the former peoples has already come to pass.
[01:11.00]
9.Wa la'in sa altahum man khalaqas samaawaati wal arda la yaqoolunna khalaqa hunnal 'Azeezul 'Aleem

[01:26.00]

11.and who sent down water from the sky in a measured manner, and We revived with it a dead country. Likewise, you shall be raised [from the dead].
[01:58.00]

13.Litastawoo 'alaa zuhoorihee summa tazkuroo ni'mata Rabbikum izastawaitum 'alaihi wa taqooloo Subhaanal lazee sakhkhara lana haaza wa maa kunnaa lahoo muqrineen
13.that you may sit on their backs, then remember the blessing of your Lord when you are settled on them, and say, ‘Immaculate is He who has disposed this for us, and we [by ourselves] were no match for it.
[02:34.00]
14.Wa innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon
14.Indeed we shall return to our Lord.’
[02:44.00]
15.Wa ja'aloo lahoo min 'ibaadihee juz'aa; innal insaana lakafoorum mubeen
15.They ascribe to Him offspring from among His servants! Man is indeed a manifest ingrate.
[02:57.00]
16.Amit takhaza mimmaa yakhluqu banaatinw wa asfaakum bilbaneen
16.Did He adopt daughters from what He creates while He preferred you with sons?
[03:07.00]
17.Wa izaa bushshira ahaduhum bimaa daraba lir Rahmaani masalan zalla wajhuhoo muswaddanw wa hua kazeem
17.When one of them is brought the news of what he ascribes to the All-beneficent, his face becomes darkened and he chokes with suppressed rage, [and says]
[03:22.00]
18.Awa mai yunashsha'u fil hilyati wa huwa fil khisaami ghairu mubeen
18.‘What! One who is brought up amid ornaments and is inconspicuous in contests?’
[03:32.00]
19.Wa ja'alul malaaa'ikatal lazeena hum 'ibaadur Rahmaani inaasaa; a shahidoo khalaqhum; satuktabu shahaa datuhum wa yus'aloon
19.They have made the angels—who are servants of the All-beneficent—females. Were they witness to their creation? Their testimony will be written down and they shall be questioned.
[03:50.00]
20.Wa qaaloo law shaaa'ar Rahmaanu maa 'abadnaahum; maa lahum bizaalika min 'ilmin in hum illaa yakhrusoon
20.They say, ‘Had the All-beneficent wished, we would not have worshipped them.’ They do not have any knowledge of that, and they do nothing but surmise.
[04:07.00]
21.Am aatainaahum Kitaabam min qablihee fahum bihee mustamsikoon
21.Did We give them a Book before this, so that they are holding fast to it?
[04:19.00]
22.Bal qaalooo innaa wajadnaaa aabaaa'anaa 'alaaa ummatinw wa innaa 'alaaa aasaarihim muhtadoon
22.No, they said, ‘We found our fathers following a creed, and we are indeed guided in their footsteps.’
[04:43.00]
23.Wa kazaalika maaa arsalnaa min qablika fee qaryatim min nazeerin illaa qaala mutrafoohaaa innaa wajadnaaa aabaaa'anaa 'alaaa ummatinw wa innaa 'alaaa aasaarihim muqtadoon
23.So it has been that We did not send any warner to a town before you, without its affluent ones saying, ‘We found our fathers following a creed and we are indeed following in their footsteps.’
[05:24.00]
24.Qaala awa law ji'tukum bi ahdaa mimmaa wajattum 'alaihi aabaaa'akum qaalooo innaa bimaaa ursiltum bihee kaafiroon
24.He would say, ‘What! Even if I bring you a better guidance than what you found your fathers following?!’ They would say, ‘We indeed disbelieve in what you are sent with.’
[05:49.00]
25.Fantaqamnaa minhum fanzur kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul mukazzibeen
25.Thereupon We took vengeance on them; so observe how was the fate of the deniers.
[06:01.00]
26.Wa iz qaala Ibraaheemu liabeehi wa qawmiheee innane baraaa'um mimmaa ta'budo
26.When Abraham said to his father and his people, ‘I repudiate what you worship,
[06:17.00]
27.Illal lazee fataranee innahoo sa yahdeen
27.excepting Him who originated me; indeed He will guide me.’
[06:25.00]
28.He made it a lasting word among his posterity so that they may come back [to the right path].
[06:35.00]
29.Bal matta'tu haaa'ulaaa'i wa aabaaa'ahum hattaa jaaa'a humul haqqu wa Rasoolum mubeen
29.Indeed, I provided for these and their fathers until the truth and a manifest apostle came to them.
[06:54.00]
30.Wa lammaa jaaa'ahumul haqqu qaaloo haazaa sihrunw wa innaa bihee kaafiroon
30.But when the truth came to them, they said, ‘This is magic, and we indeed disbelieve in it.’
[07:08.00]
31.Wa qaaloo law laa nuzzila haazal Quraanu 'alaa rajulim minal qaryataini 'azeem
31.And they said, ‘Why was not this Quran sent down to some great man from the two cities?’
[07:19.00]
32.Ahum yaqsimoona rahmata Rabbik; Nahnu qasamnaa bainahum ma'eeshatahum fil hayaatid dunyaa wa rafa'naa ba'dahum fawqa ba'din darajaatil liyattakhiza ba'duhum ba'dan sukhriyyaa; wa rahmatu Rabbika khairum mimmaa yajma'oon
32.Is it they who dispense the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have dispensed among them their livelihood in the present life, and raised some of them above others in rank, so that some may take others into service, and your Lord’s mercy is better than what they amass.
[07:51.00]
33.Wa law laaa any yakoonan naasu ummatanw waahidatal laja'alnaa limany yakfuru bir Rahmaani libu yootihim suqufam min fiddatinw wa ma'aarija 'alaihaa yazharoon
33.Were it not [for the danger] that mankind would be one community, We would have made for those who defy the All-beneficent, silver roofs for their houses and [silver] stairways by which they ascend,
[08:18.00]
34.Wa libu yootihim abwaabanw wa sururan 'alaihaa yattaki'oon
34.and [silver] doors for their houses and [silver] couches on which they recline,
[08:27.00]
35.Wa zukhrufaa; wa in kullu zaalika lammaa mataa'ul hayaatid dunyaa; wal aakhiratu 'inda Rabbika lilmuttaqeen
35.and ornaments of gold; yet all that would be nothing but the wares of the life of this world, and the Hereafter is for the Godwary near your Lord.
[08:44.00]
36.Wa mai ya'shu 'an zikrir Rahmaani nuqaiyid lahoo Shaitaanan fahuwa lahoo qareen
36.We assign a devil to be the companion of him who turns a blind eye to the remembrance of the All-beneficent.
[08:57.00]
37.Indeed they bar them from the way [of Allah], while they suppose that they are [rightly] guided.
[09:10.00]
38.Hattaaa izaa jaaa'anaa qaala yaa laita bainee wa bainaka bu'dal mashriqaini fabi'sal qareen
38.When he comes to Us, he will say, ‘I wish there had been between me and you the distance between the east and the west! What an evil companion [you are]!’
[09:26.00]
39.Wa lai yanfa'akumul Yawma iz zalamtum annakum fil 'azaabi mushtarikoon
39.Today that will be of no avail to you. As you did wrong, so will you share in the punishment.’
[09:38.00]
40.Afa anta tusmi'us summa aw tahdil 'umya wa man kaana fee dalaalim mubeen
40.Can you, then, make the deaf hear or guide the blind and those who are in manifest error?
[09:51.00]
41.Fa immaa nazhabanna bika fa innaa minhum muntaqimoon
41.We will indeed take vengeance on them, whether We take you away
[10:03.00]
42.Aw nuriyannakal lazee wa'adnaahum fa innaa 'alaihim muqtadiroon
42.or show you what We have promised them, for indeed We hold them in Our power.
[10:15.00]
43.Fastamsik billazeee oohi ya ilaika innaka 'alaa Siraatim Mustaqeem
43.So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
[10:29.00]
44.Wa innahoo lazikrul laka wa liqawmika wa sawfa tus'aloon
44.Indeed it is a reminder for you and your people, and soon you will be questioned.
[10:38.00]
45.Was'al man arsalnaa min qablika mir Rusulinaaa aja'alnaa min doonir Rahmaani aalihatany yu badoon
45.Ask those of Our apostles We have sent before you: Did We set up any gods to be worshipped besides the All-beneficent?
[10:56.00]
46.Wa laqad arsalnaa Moosaa bi aayaatinaaa ilaa Fir'awna wa mala'ihee faqaala innee Rasoolu Rabbil 'aalameen
46.Certainly We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his elite. He said, ‘I am indeed an apostle of the Lord of all the worlds.’
[11:11.00]
47.Falammma jaaa'ahum bi aayaatinaaa izaa hum minhaa yadhakoon
47.But when he brought them Our signs, they indeed laughed at them.
[11:24.00]
48.We did not show them a sign but it was greater than the other, and We visited on them punishment so that they might come back.
[11:40.00]
49.Wa qaaloo yaaa ayyuhas saahirud'u lanaa Rabbaka bimaa 'ahida 'indaka innanaa lamuhtadoon
49.They would say, ‘O magician! Invoke your Lord for us by the covenant He has made with you [to remove this scourge]. We will indeed be guided [when it is removed].’
[11:54.00]
50.Falammaa kashafnaa 'anhumul 'azaaba izaa hum yankusoon
50.But when We lifted the punishment from them, behold, they would break their pledge.
[12:04.00]
51.Wa naadaa Fir'awnu fee qawmihee qaala yaa qawmi alaisa lee mulku Misra wa haazihil anhaaru tajree min tahtee afalaa tubsiroon
51.And Pharaoh proclaimed to his people, saying, ‘O my people! Do not the kingdom of Egypt and these rivers that run at my feet belong to me? Do you not perceive?
[12:21.00]
52.Am ana khairum min haazal lazee huwa maheenunw wa laa yuakaadu yubeen
52.Am I not better than this wretch who cannot even speak clearly?
[12:31.00]
53.Falaw laa ulqiya 'alaihi aswiratum min zahabin awjaaa'a ma'ahul malaaa'ikatu muqtarineen
53.Why no bracelets of gold have been thrown to him, nor any angels accompany him as escorts?’
