بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

bismillahi arrhmani arrahimi

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

[00:11.00]

اَللّٰھُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah: (please do) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

[00:21.00]

اِلٰٓهِىْ اَذْهَلَنِىْ عَنْ اِقَامَةِ شُكْرِكَ تَتَابُعُ طَوْلِكَ

ilahi adhhalani `an iqamati shukrika tatabu`u tawlika

My God, the uninterrupted flow of Your graciousness hast distracted me from thanking You!

[00:36.00]

وَ اَعْجَزَنِىْ عَنْ اِحْصَاۤءِ ثَناۤئِكَ فَيْضُ فَضْلِكَ

wa a`jazani `an ihsa'i thana'ika faydu fadlika

The flood of Your bounty has rendered me incapable of counting Your praises!

[00:46.00]

وَ شَغَلَنِىْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ مُحَامِدِكَ تَرَادُفُ عَوَاۤئِدِكَ،

wa shaghalani `an dhikri mahamidika taradufu `awa'idika

The succession of Your kind acts has diverted me from mentioning You in laudation!

[00:57.00]

وَ اَعْيَانِىْ عَنْ نَشْرِعَوَارِفِكَ تَوَالِىْ اَيَادِيْكَ

wa a`yani `an nashri `awarifika tawali ayadika

The continuous rush of Your benefits has thwarted me from spreading the news of Your gentle favors!

[01:07.00]

وَ هٰذَا مَقَامُ مَنِ اعْتَرَفَ بِسُبُوغِ النَّعَمَاۤءِ

wa hadha maqamu man i`tarafa bisubughi anna`ma'i

This is the station of him who confesses to the lavishness of favors,

[01:15.00]

وَ قَابَلَهَا بِالتَّقْصِيْرِ

wa qabalaha bittaqsiri

meets them with shortcomings,

[01:21.00]

وَ شَهِدَ عَلٰى نَفْسِهٖ بِالْاِهْمَالِ وَ التَّضْيِيْعِ

wa shahida `ala nafsihi bil-ihmali wattadyi`i

and witnesses to his own disregard and negligence.

[01:29.00]

وَ اَنْتَ الرَّؤُفُ الرَّحِيْمُ

wa anta arra'ufu arrahimu

You are the Clement, the Compassionate,

[01:34.00]

الْبَرُّ الْكَرِيْمُ

albarru alkarimu

the Good, the Generous,

[01:38.00]

الَّذِىْ لَا يُخَيِّبُ قَاصِدِيْهِ

alladhi la yukhayyibu qasidihi

who does not disappoint those who aim for Him,

[01:44.00]

وَلَا يَطْرُدُ عَنْ فِنَاۤئِهٖ اٰمِلِيْهِ

wa la yatrudu `an fina'ihi amilihi

nor cast out from His courtyard those who expect from Him!

[01:51.00]

بِسَاحَتِ تَحُطُّ رِحَالُ الرَّاجِيْنَ

bisahatika tahuttu rihalu arrajina

In Your yard are put down the saddlebags of the hopeful

[01:59.00]

وَ بِعَرْصَتِكَ تَقِفُ اٰمَالُ الْمُسْتَرْفِدِيْنَ

wa bi`arsatika taqifu amalu almustarfidina

and in Your plain stand the hopes of the help-seekers!

[02:07.00]

فَلَا تُقَابِلْ اٰمَالَنَا بِالتَّخْيِيْبِ وَ الْاِيَاسِ

fala tuqabil amalana bittakhyibi wal-iyasi

So, meet not our hopes by disappointing and disheartening

[02:18.00]

وَلَا تُلْبِسْنَا سِرْبَالَ الْقُنُوْطِ وَالْاِبْلَاسِ

wa la tulbisna sirbala alqunuti wal-iblasi

and clothe us not in the shirt of despair and despondency!

[02:27.00]

اِلٰهِىْ تَصَاغَرَ عِنْدَ تَعَاظُمِ اٰلاۤئِكَ شُكْرِىْ

ilahi tasaghara `inda ta`azumi ala'ika shukri

My God, my thanksgiving is small before Your great boons,

[02:39.00]

وَ تَضَاۤئَلَ فِىْ جَنْبِ اِكْرَامِكَ اِيَّاىَ ثَنَاۤئِىْ وَ نَشْرِىْ،

wa tada'ala fi janbi ikramika iyyaya thana'i wa nashri

and my praise and news-spreading shrink beside Your generosity toward me!

[02:49.00]

جَلَّلَتْنِىْ نِعَمُكَ مِنْ اَنْوَارِ الْاِيْمَانِ حُلَلًا

jallalatni ni`amuka min anwari al-imani hulalan

Your favors have wrapped me in the robes of the lights of faith,

[03:00.00]

وَ ضَرَبَتْ عَلَيَّ لَطَائِفُ بِرِّكَ مِنَ الْعِزِّ كِلَلًا،

wa darabat `alayya lata'ifu birrika min al`izzi kilalan

and the gentleness of Your goodness have let down over me delicate curtains of might!

[03:09.00]

وَ قَلَّدَتْنِىْ مِنَنُكَ قَلاۤئِدَ لَا تُحَلُّ

wa qalladatni minanuka qala'ida la tuhallu

Your kindnesses have collared me with collars not to be moved

[03:16.00]

وَ طَوَّقَتْنِىْ اَطْوَاقًا لَا تُفَلُّ

wa tawwaqatni atwaqan la tufallu

and adorned me with neck-rings not to be broken!

[03:23.00]

فَاٰلاۤئُكَ جَمَّهٌ

fa ala'uka jammatun

Your boons are abundant;

[03:27.00]

ضَعُفَ لِسَانِىْ عَنْ اِحْصَاۤئِهَا

da`ufa lisani `an ihsa'iha

my tongue is too weak to count them!

[03:33.00]

وَنَعْمَاۤؤُكَ كَثِيْرَةٌ

wa na`ma'uka kathiratun

Your favors are many;

[03:38.00]

قَصُرَ فَهْمِىْ عَنْ اِدْرَاكِهَا

qasura fahmi `an idrakiha

my understanding falls short of grasping them,

[03:43.00]

فَضْلًا عَنِ اسْتِقْصَاۤئِهَا

fadlan `an istiqsa'iha

not to speak of exhausting them!

[03:47.00]

فَكَيْفَ لِىْ بِتَحْصِيْلِ الشُّكْرِ

fakayfa li bitahsili ashshukri

So, how can I achieve thanksgiving?

[03:53.00]

وَ شُكْرِىْ اِيَّاكَ يَفْتَقِرُ اِلٰى شُكْرٍ

wa shukri iyyaka yaftaqiru ila shukrin

For my thanking You requires thanksgiving.

[04:01.00]

فَكـُلَّمَا قُلْتُ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ

fakullama qultu laka alhamdu

Whenever I say, ‘To You belongs praise!’

[04:05.00]

وَجَبَ عَلَيَّ لِذَالِكَ اَنْ اَقُوْلَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ

wajaba `alayya lidhalika an aqula laka alhamdu

it becomes thereby incumbent upon me to say, ‘To You belongs praise!’

[04:13.00]

اِلٰهِىْ فَكَمَا غَذَّيْتَـنَا بِلُطْفِكَ

ilahi fakama ghadhdhaytana bilutfika

My God, as You have fed us through Your gentleness

[04:22.00]

وَ رَبَّيْتَـنَا بِصُنْعِكَ

wa rabbaytana bisun`ika

and nurtured us through Your benefaction,

[04:27.00]

فَتَمِّمْ عَلَيْنَا سَوَابِغَ النِّعَمِ،

fatammim `alayna sawabigha anni`ami

so also complete for us lavish favors,

[04:33.00]

وَادْفَعْ عَنَّا مَكَارِهَ النِّقَمِ

wadfa` `anna makariha anniqami

repel from us detested acts of vengeance,

[04:39.00]

وَ اٰتِنَا مِنْ حُظُوْظِ الدَّارَيْنِ

wa atina min huzuzi addarayni

and of the shares of the two abodes,

[04:45.00]

اَرْفَعَهَا وَ اَجَلَّهَا عَاجِلًا وَاجِلًا

arfa`aha wa ajallaha `ajilan wa ajilan

give us their most elevated and their greatest, both the immediate and the deferred!

[04:52.00]

وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰى حُسْنِ بَلاۤئِكَ

wa laka alhamdu `ala husni bala'ika

To You belongs praise for Your good trial

[04:58.00]

وَ سُبُوْغِ نَعْمَاۤئِكَ

wa subooghi naa'-maaa-ika

and the lavishness of Your favours,

[05:02.00]

حَمْدًا يُوَافِقُ رِضَاكَ

h'am-day-yuwafiqu riz''aaka

a praise conforming to Your good pleasure

[05:07.00]

وَ يَمْتَرِى الْعَظِيْمَ مِنْ بِرِّكَ وَ نَدَاكَ

wa yam-tareel-a'z'eema mim-bir-rika wa nadaaka

and attracting Your great goodness and magnanimity.

[05:14.00]

يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا كَرِيْمُ

yaa a'z'eemu yaa kareemu

O All-mighty, O All-generous!

[05:21.00]

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يآ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

birah'-matika yaaa ar-h'amar-raah'imeen

By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful!
