بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

[00:16.00]

اِلٰهِىْ اِلَيْكَ اَشْكُوْ نَفْسًا

ilahi ilayka ashku nafsan

My God, to You I complain of a soul

[00:22.00]

بِالسُّوْ ۤءِ اَمَّارَةً

bissu'i ammaratan

commanding to evil,

[00:26.00]

وَ اِلَى الْخَطِيْٓئَةِ مُبَادِرَةً

wa ila alkhati'ati mubadiratan

rushing to offenses,

[00:32.00]

وَ بِمَعَاصِيْكَ مُوْلَعَةً

wa bima`asika mula`atan

eager to disobey You,

[00:38.00]

وَ لِسَخَطِكَ مُتَعَرِّضَةً

wa lisakhatika muta`arridatan

and exposing itself to Your anger.

[00:45.00]

تَسْلُكُ بِىْ مَسَالِكَ الْمَهَالِكِ

tasluka bi masalika almahaliki

It takes me on the roads of disasters,

[00:49.00]

وَتَجْعَلُنِىْ عِنْدَكَ اَهْوَنَ هَالِكٍ

wa taj`aluni `indaka ahwana halikin

it makes me the easiest of perishing ones before You;

[00:59.00]

كَثِيْرَةَ الْعِلَل

kathirata al`ilali

many its pretexts,

[01:03.00]

طَوِيْلَةَ الْاَمَلِ

tawilata al-amali

drawn out its expectations;

[01:08.00]

اِنْ مَسَّهَا الشَّرُّ تَجْزَعُ

in massaha ashsharru tajza`u

when evil touches it, it is anxious,

[01:15.00]

وَاِنْ مَسَّهَا الْخَيْرُ تَمْنَعُ

wa in massaha alkhayru tamna`u

when good touches it, grudging;

[01:22.00]

مَيَّالَةً اِلَى اللَّعَبِ وَ اللَّهْوِ

mayyalatan ila alla`ibi wallahwi

inclining to sport and diversion,

[01:32.00]

مَمْلُوَّةً بِالْغَفْلَةِ وَالسَّهْوِ

mamlu'atan bilghaflati wassahwi

full of heedlessness and inattention,

[01:39.00]

تُسْرِعُ بِىْ اِلَى الْحَوْبَةِ

tusri`u bi ila alhawbati

it hurries me to misdeeds

[01:43.00]

وَ تُسَوِّفُنِىْ بِالتَّوْبَةِ

wa tusawwifuni bittawbati

and makes me delay repentance.

[01:49.00]

اِلٰهِىْٓ اَشْكُوْ اِلَيْكَ

ilahi ashku ilayka

My God, I complain to You

[01:58.00]

عَدُوًّا يُضِلُّنِىْ

`aduwwan yudilluni

of an enemy who misguides me

[02:02.00]

وَ شَيْطَانًا يُغْوِنِىْ

wa shaytanan yughwini

and a devil who leads me astray.

[02:09.00]

قَدْ مَلَأَ بِالْوَسْوَاسِ صَدْرِىْ

qad mala'a bilwaswasi sadri

He has filled my breast with tempting thoughts,

[02:14.00]

وَ اَحَاطَتْ هَوَاجِسُه بِقَلْبِىْ

wa ahatat hawajisuhu biqalbi

and his suggestions have encompassed my heart.

[02:21.00]

يُعَاضِدُ لِىَ الْهَوٰى

yu`adidu liya alhawa

He supports caprice against me,

[02:26.00]

وَ يُزَيِّـنُ لِىْ حُبَّ الدُّنْيَا

wa yuzayyinu li hubba addunya

embellishes for me the love of this world,

[02:30.00]

وَ يَحُوْلُ بَيْنِىْ وَ بَيْنَ الطَّاعَةِ وَالزُّلْفٰى

wa yahulu bayni wa bayna atta`ati wazzulfa

and separates me from obedience and proximity!

[02:38.00]

اِلٰهِىْٓ اِلَيْكَ اَشْكُوْ

ilahi ilayka ashku

My God, to You I complain

[02:44.00]

قَلْبًا قَاسِيًا

qalban qasiyan

of a heart that is hard,

[02:46.00]

مَعَ الْوَسْوَاسِ مُتَقَلِّبًا

ma`a alwaswasi mutaqalliban

turned this way and that by tempting thoughts,

[02:52.00]

وَ بِالرَّيْنِ وَالطَّبْعِ مُتَلَبِّسًا

wa birrayni wattab`i mutalabbisan

clothed in rust and the seal,

[02:58.00]

وَ عَيْنًا عَنِ الْبُكَاۤءِ مِنْ خَوْفِكَ جَامِدَةً

wa `aynan `an albuka'i min khawfika jamidatan

and of an eye too indifferent to weep in fear of You

[03:05.00]

وَ اِلٰى مَا يَسُرُّهَا طَامِحَةً

wa ila ma tasurruha tamihatan

and eagerly seeking that which gladdens it!

[03:13.00]

اِلٰهِىْ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِقُدْرَتِكَ

ilahi la hawla wa la quwwata illa biqudratika

My God, there is no force and no strength except in Your power,

[03:33.00]

وَ لَا نَجَاةَ لِىْ مِنْ مَكَارِهِ الدُّنْيَا اِلَّا بِعِصْمَتِكَ

wa la najata li min makarihi addunya illa bi`ismatika

and no deliverance for me from the detested things of this world save through Your preservation.

[03:41.00]

فَاَسْئَلُكَ بِبَلَاغَةِ حِكْمَتِكَ

fa as'aluka bibalaghati hikmatika

So I ask You by Your far-reaching wisdom

[03:46.00]

وَ نَفَاذِ مَشِيَّتِكَ

wa nafadhi mashiyyatika

and Your penetrating will

[03:50.00]

اَنْ لَا تَجْعَلَنِىْ لِغَيْرِجُوْدِكَ مُتَعَرِّضًا

an la taj`alni lighayri judika muta`arridan

not to let me expose myself to other than Your munificence

[03:57.00]

وَ لَا تُصَيِّرَنِىْ لِلْفِتَنِ غَرَضًا

wa la tusayyirni lilfitani gharadan

and not to turn me into a target for trials!

[04:03.00]

وَ كُنْ بِىْ عَلَى الْاَعْدَاۤءِ نَاصِرًا

wa kun li `ala al-a`da'i nasiran

Be for me a helper against enemies,

[04:10.00]

وَ عَلَى الْمَخَازِىْ وَ الْعُيُوْبِ سَاتِرًا

wa `ala almakhazi wal`uyubi satiran

a coverer of shameful things and faults,

[04:16.00]

وَ مِنَ الْبَلَاۤءِ وَاقِيًا

wa min albalaya waqiyan

a protector against afflictions,

[04:21.00]

وَ عَنِ الْمَعَاصِىْ عَاصِمًاۢ

wa `an alma`asi ` asiman

a preserver against acts of disobedience!

[04:26.00]

بِرَافَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ

bira'fatika wa rahmatika

By Your clemency and mercy,

[04:33.00]

يَآ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

ya arhama arrahimina

O Most Merciful of the merciful!
