Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem
In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful.
Ila Allah subhanahu wa taqaddasat asma’uhu, Rabbi al-arbab, wa qasim al-jabbarah al-‘izam, ‘alim al-ghayb wa kashif ad-durr, alladhi sabaqa fi ‘ilmihi ma kana wa ma yakunu, min ‘abdihi adh-dhalil al-miskin, alladhi inqata’at bihi al-asbab, wa tala ‘alayhi al-‘adhab, wa hajarahu al-ahl, wa bayyanahu as-sadiq al-hamim fa baqi murtahin bi dhanbihi, qad awbaqahu jurmuhu, wa talab an-naja’ falam yajid malja’an wa la multaja’an, ghayr al-qadir ‘ala hal al-‘aqd, wa mu’ayyid al-abad, fafaz’i ilayhi wa i’timadi ‘alayhi, wa la lajaa wa la multaja’a illa ilayh.
To Allah, glorified and exalted are His names, the Lord of Lords, the crusher of the mighty tyrants, the Knower of the unseen and Dispeller of harm, who precedes in His knowledge all that was and all that will be. From His humble, wretched servant, for whom causes have ceased, who has been afflicted with torment, abandoned by family, and separated from the intimate friend, thus remaining captive due to his sinfulness, whose crime has overwhelmed him, seeking salvation yet finding no refuge or sanctuary except with Him alone, the One capable of untying all knots, the Ever-Supporting. My terrified heart turns toward Him with reliance, for there is no refuge or sanctuary except with Him.
O Allah, I ask You by Your past knowledge, by Your mighty light, by Your noble face, and by Your perfect proof, to send blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, to take me by the hand and make me among those whose prayers You accept, who You soften their hardships, lift their distress, remove their worries, and grant them relief and a way out of their matters. Protect me from the cruelty of this oppressive tyrant and from the oppression of mankind, O Lord of angels and mankind. You are sufficient for me, and sufficient is He upon whom You rely. O Remover of great troubles, indeed there is no power nor strength except with You.

O Allah, I ask You by the power with which You looked upon the roaring sea that overflowed, surged, and raged, dark as the night, obedient to Your command and fearful of Your might. It burst forth, opened its way, and its islands glorified You, and its pearls were sanctified, its fish calling to You in diverse tongues: O our God and our Master, what has befallen us and our sea? You said to it, “Calm down, I will keep you calm,” and “I will make a righteous servant dwell near you.” So it calmed, glorified, and promised the essence of gifts.
Falamman nazala bihi Ibn Matta bima alima adh-dhunun, falamma sara fi fiha sabbaha fi um’aiha, fabakat al-jibal ‘alayhi talahhufan, wa ashfaqat ‘alayhi al-ard ta’sufan, Fayunas fi hutihi kamusa fi tabutihi li amrika tai’un, wa li wajhika sajidun khadi’un, falamma ahbabta an taqiyahu alqat’ahu bishati al-bahr shalwan la tandhur ‘aynahu, wa la tabtishu yadahu, wa la tarkudu rijlahu, wa anba’at minka ‘alayhi shajarat min yaqtin, wa ajrayta lahu furatan min ma’in, falamma istaghfara wa taba kharaqata lahu ila al-jannah baban, innaka anta Al-Wahhab.
When Ibn Matta came to him upon what had been suspected, and when he was in it, he glorified in his insides. The mountains wept for him eagerly, and the earth took pity on him sorrowfully. Yunus (Jonah) in his whale was like Moses in his Ark, obedient to Your command and prostrating submissively to Your countenance. When You wished to protect him, You cast him ashore, paralysed; his eyes would not see, his hands would not strike, and his legs would not run. From You, a gourd plant grew over him, and You provided him with a fresh spring. When he repented and sought forgiveness, You opened for him a door to Paradise. Indeed, You are The Bestower.
