بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL-LAAHIR-RAH'MAANIR-RAH'EEM

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

إسْمَعِي إفْهَمِي ؛ إسْمَعِي إفْهَمِي

ISMA-IEE IFHAMEE; ISMA-IEE IFHAMEE

Listen and understand, listen and understand

يا فُلانةُ بِنْتُ فُلانةٍ

YAA FULAANA BINTI FULAAN

O .......... daughter of ..........

هَلْ أنْتِ عَلى العَهْدِ الَّذِي فارَقْتَنا عَلَيْهِ مِنْ شَهادَةِ

HAL ANTA 'ALAL 'AHDIL-LADHEE FAARAQTANA 'ALAYHI MIN SHAHAADATI

Are you on the same covenant on which you were when you parted from us?

أنْ لا إلهَ إِلاّ الله وَحْدَهُ لاشَريكَ لَهُ ،

AN LAAA ILAAHA IL-LAL-LAAHU WAH'DAHOO LAA SHAREEKA LAH

That there is no God but Allah Who is only One and who has no partner,

وَأنَّ مُحَمَّداً صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وآله عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

WA AN-NA MUH'AM-MADAN SAL-LAL-LAAHU 'ALAYHI WA AALIHEE 'ABDUHOO WA RASOOLUH

And that indeed Mohammed, may the Peace of Allah be on him and his progeny, is the slave and the messenger of Allah

وَسَيِّدُ النَّبِيِّينَ وَخاتَمُ المُرْسَلِينَ ،

WA SAY-YIDUN-NABIY-YEEN; WA KHAATAMUL MURSALEEN

And is the chief of all the prophets and is the last of them

وَأنَّ عَلَيَّاً أمِيرُ المُؤْمِنِينَ وَسَيِّدُ الوَصِيِّينَ

WA AN-NA 'ALIY-YAN AMEERUL MU'MINEEN; WA SAY-YIDUL WASIY-YEEN

And that Ali is the Commander of the Faithfuls and the leaders of all the successors

وَإمامٌ افْتَرَضَ الله طاعَتَهُ عَلى العالَمِينَ ،

WA IMAAMUN-NIFTARADHAL-LAAHU TAA'ATAHOO 'ALAL 'AALAMEEN

And he is such an Imam whose obedience has been made obligatory on the whole world

وَأنَّ الحَسَنَ وَالحُسَيْنَ

WA AN-NAL H'ASANA WAL H'USAYN

And that Hasan and Husayn

وَعلِيَّ بْنَ الحُسَيْن وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

WA 'ALIY-YABNAL H'USAYN; WA MUH'AM-MADABNA 'ALIY-Y

And Ali son of Husayn, and Muhammed son of Ali,

وَجَعْفَرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَمُوسَى بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ

WA JA'FARABNA MUH'AM-MAD; WA MOOSABNA JA'FAR

And Ja'far son of Muhammed, And Musa son of Ja'far,

وَعَلِيَّ بْنَ مُوسَى وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

WA 'ALIY-YABNA MOOSAA; WA MUH'AM-MADABNA 'ALIY-Y

And Ali son of Musa, and Muhammed son of Ali,

وَعَلِىَّ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَالحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

WA 'ALIY-YABNA MUH'AM-MAD; WAL H'ASANABNA 'ALIY-Y

And Ali son of Mohammed, and Hasan son of Ali,

وَ الحُجَّةَ القائِمَ المَهْدِيَّ

WAL H'UJ-JATAL QAAA'IMAL MAHDIY- Y

And Mohammed, the awaited one

صَلَواتُ الله عَلَيْهِمْ أئِمَّةُ المُؤْمِنِينَ

SALAWAATUL-LAAHI 'ALAYHIM A-IM- MATUL MU'MINEEN

May the peace of Allah be on them all are the Imams of all the believers

وَحُجَجُ اللهِ عَلى الخَلْقِ أجْمَعِينَ ،

WA H'UJAJUL-LAAHI 'ALAL KHALQI AJMA-'IEEN

And are the authorities on the whole world,

وَأئِمَّتُكَ أئِمَّةُ هُدى أبْرارٌ.

WA A-IM-MATUKA A-IM-MATU HUDAN ABRAAR

And all these Imams are the rightly guides for the pious

يا فُلانَةَ بِنْتِ فُلانةٍ

YAA FULAANA BINTI FULAAN

Ο .......... daughter of ..........

إذا أتاكَ المَلَكانِ المُقَرَّبانِ

IDHAA ATAAKIL MALAKAANIL MUQAR- RABAAN

When the two angels favored by Allah and appointed by Him approach you

رَسُولَيْنِ مِنْ عِنْدِ الله تَبارَكَ وَتَعالى

RASOOLAYNI MIN 'INDIL-LAAНІ TABAARAKA WA TA'AALAA

Praise be to Allah, Blessed and Exalted

وَسَألاكَ عَنْ رَبِّكَ وَعَنْ نَبِيِّكَ

WA SA-ALAKI 'AN RAB-BIKI; WA 'AN NABIY-YIK

And ask about your God and your Prophet,

وَعَنْ دِينِكَ وَعَنْ كِتابِكَ

WA 'AN DEENIKI; WA 'AN KITAABIK

And your religion and your book,

وَعَنْ قِبْلَتِكَ وَعَنْ أئِمَّتِكَ

WA 'AN QIBLATIKI; WA 'AN A-IM- MATIK

Your Qibla and your Imams,

فَلا تَخَفْ وَقُلْ فِي جَوابِهِما

FALAA TAKHAAFEE WA LAA TAH'ZANEE; WA QOOLEE FEE JAWAABIHIMAA

Do not be afraid or grieved, but say in reply:

الله رَبِّي ، وَمُحَمَّدٌ صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وآله نَبِيِّي ،

AL-LAAHU RAB-BEE; WA MUH'AM- MADUN SAL-LAL-LAAHU 'ALAYHI WA AALIHEE NABIY-YEE

"Allah is my Rabb, Muhammed peace of Allah be upon him and his progeny, is my Prophet,

وَالاسْلامُ دِينِي ، وَالقُرْآنُ كِتابِي ، وَالكَعْبَةُ قِبْلَتِي ،

WAL ISLAAMU DEENEE; WAL QUR'AANU KITAABEE; WAL KA'BATU QIBLATEE

Islam is my religion, Qur'an is my book, Kaa'ba is my Qibla,

وَأميرُ المُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أبِي طالِبٍ إمامِي ،

WA AMEERUL MU'MINEENA 'ALIY- YUBNU ABEE TAALIBIN IMAAMEE And Ameerul

Mu'mineen Ali ibne Abi Talib is my Imam,

وَالحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الُمجْتَبى إمامِي ،

WAL H'ASANUBNU 'ALIY-YINIL MUJTABAA IMAAMEE

And Hasan Mujtaba is my Imam,

وَالحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الشَهِيدُ بِكَرْبَلاَء إمامِي ،

WAL H'USAYNUBNU 'ALIY-YINISH- SHAHEEDU BIKARBALAAA'A IMAAMEE And

Husayn, the martyr of Karbala is my Imam

وَعَلِيُّ زَيْنُ العابِدِينَ إمامِي ، وَمُحَمَّدٌ البَاقِرُ إمامِي ،

WA 'ALIY-YUN ZAYNUL 'AABIDEENA IMAAMEE; WA MUH'AM-MADUNIL BAAQIRU IMAAMEE

And Ali Zaynul Abideen is my Imam, and Mohammed al-Baqir is my Imam,

وَجَعْفَرٌ الصادِقُ إمامِي ، وَمُوسَى الكاظِمُ إمامِي ،

WA JA'FARUNIS-SAADIQU IMAAMEE; WA MOOSAL KAAZIMU IMAAMEE

And Ja'far as-Saadiq is my Imam, and Musa al- Kaazim is my Imam,

وَعَلِيُّ الرِّضا إِمَامِي ، وَمُحَمَّدٌ الجَوادُ إمامِي ،

WA 'ALIY-YUNIR-RIDHAA IMAAMEE; WA MUH'AM-MADUNIL JAWAADU IMAAMEE

And Ali ar-Riza is my Imam, and Muhammed al-Jawaad is my Imam,

وَعَلِيُّ الهادِي إمامِي ، وَالحَسَنُ العَسْكَرِيُ إمامِي ،

WA 'ALIY-YUNIL HAADI IMAAMEE; WAL H'ASANUL 'ASKARIY-YU IMAAMEE

And Ali al-Haadi is my Imam, and Hasan al- Askari is my Imam,

وَالحُجَّةُ القَائِمُ المُنْتَظَرُ إمامِي ؛

WAL H'UJ-JATUL QAAA-IMUL MUNTAZARU IMAAMEE

And Hujjat, al-Qaa'imul Muntadhar is my Imam.

هؤُلاِ صَلَواتُ الله عَلَيْهِمْ أجْمَعينَ

HAA ULAAA-I SALAWAATUL-LAAHI 'ALAYHIM AJMA-'IEEN

All these great persons, may Allah's peace be upon them,

أئِمَّتِي وَسادَتِي وَقادَتِي وَشُفَعائِي ، بِهِمْ أتَوَلّى

A-IM-MATEE WA SAADATEE WA QAADATI WA SHUFA'AAA-IEE BIHIM ATAWAL-LAA

Are my Imams, my leaders, my chiefs, and my intercessors and I keep friends with them

وَمِنْ أعْدائِهِمْ أتَبَرَّأُ فِي الدُّنْيا وَالآخِرَةِ.

WA MIN A'DAAA-IHIM ATABAR RA'; FID-DUNYA WAL AAKHIRAH

And have hatred for their enemies in this world as well as in the world to come."

ثُمَّ إعْلَمِي يا فُلانةَ بِنْتَ فُلانةٍ

THUM-MA'LAMI; YAA FULAANA BINTI FULAAN

Understand, O .......... daughter of ..........

أَنَّ الله تَبارَكَ وَتَعالى نِعْمَ الرَّبُ ،

AN-NAL-LAAHA TABAARAKA WA TA'AALA NI'MAR-RAB-B

That Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, is the best Lord,

وَأنَّ مُحَمَّداً صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وآله نِعْمَ الرَّسُولُ ،

WA AN-NA MUH'AM-MADAN SAL-LAL- LAAHU 'ALAYHI WA AALIHEE NI'MAR- RASOOL

That Muhammad, may the peace of Allah be upon him and his progeny, is the Prophet,

وَأنَّ أميرَ المُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أبَي طالبِِ

WA AN-NA AMEERAL MU'MINEΕΝΑ 'ALIY-YABNA ABEE TAALIBIN

And that Commander of the Faithful, Ali son of Abu Talib

وَأوَلادَهُ الائِمَّةَ الاحَدَ عَشَرَ نِعْمَ الائِمَّةَ ،

WA AWLAADAHUL MA'SOOMEENAL A-IM-MATUL ITHNA 'ASHARA NI'MAL A-IM-MAH

And his off springs, the twelve Imams are the best of Imams.

وَأنَّ ماجاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وآله حَقٌّ ،

WA AN-NA MAA JAAA'A BIHEE MUH'AM-MADUN SAL-LAL-LAAHU 'ALAYHI WA AALIHEE H'AQ-QUN

And that the message Muhammad, may the peace of Allah be upon him and his progeny, brought from Allah is true,

وَأنَّ المَوتَ حَقٌّ وَسُؤالَ مُنْكَرٍ وَنَكيرٍ فِي القَبْرِ حَقٌّ

WA AN-NAL MAWTA H'AQ-QUN; WA SU-AALA MUNKIRIN WA NAKEERIN FIL QABRI H'AQ-QUN

And death is true, the questioning in the grave by Munkar and Nakir is true,

وَالبَعْثَ حَقٌّ وَالنُشُورَ حَقٌّ

WAL BA'THA H'AQ-QUN; WAN- NUSHOORA H'AQ-QUN

The resurrection of the dead is true, the appearance before Allah is true,

وَالصِّراطَ حَقٌّ وَالمِيزانَ حَقٌّ

WAS-SIRAATA H'AQ-QUN; WAL MEEZAANA H'AQ-QUN

The path is true, the scale is true,

وَتَطايُرَ الكُتُبِ حَقٌّ

WA TATAAA-IRAL KUTUBI H'AQ-QUN

The accounting of deeds is true,

وَالجَنَّةَ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارَ حَقٌّ ،

WAL JAN-NATA H'AQ-QUN; WAN- NAARA H'AQ-QUN

And the Heaven is true, and the Hell is true,

وَأنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ لارَيْبَ فِيها ،

WA AN-NAS-SAA'ATA AATIYATUN LAA RAYBA FEEHAA

And that there is no doubt about the coming of the inevitable Hour of Reckoning,

وَأنَّ الله يَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي القُبُورِ.

WA AN-NAL-LAAHA YAB'ATHU MAN FIL QUBOOR

And Allah will raise the dead from their graves.

أفَهِمْتِ يا فُلانَةُ.

AFAHIMTI; YAA FULAANA BINTI FULAAN

Understand, O ......... daughter of ..........

ثَبَّتَكِ اللهُ بِالقَوْلِ الثَّابِتِ

THAB-BATAKIL-LAAHU BIL QAWLITH- THAABIT

May Allah keep you safe

وَ هَدَاكِ اللهُ إِلى صِراطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

WA HADAAKIL-LAAHU ILAA SIRAATIM- MUSTAQEEM

And guide you to the right path.

عَرَّفَ الله بيْنَنا وَبَيْنَكِ وَبَيْنَ أوْلِيائِكِ فِي مُسْتَقَرٍّ مِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ.

'AR-RAFAL-LAAHU BAYNAKI WA BAYNA AWLIYAAA-IKI FI MUSTAQAR- RIM-MIR-RAH'MATIН

May Allah acquaint you with the chosen ones in the vicinity of His mercy.

اللّهُمَّ جافِ الارْضَ عَنْ جَنْبَيْهَا

AL-LAAHUM-MA JAAFIL ARDHA 'AN JAMBAYHAA

O Allah! Make the earth spacious for her on both sides

وَاصْعَدْ بِرُوَحِهَا إلَيْكَ وَلَقِّهَا مِنْكَ بُرْهانا ،

WAS'AD BIROOH'IHAAA ILAYK; WA LAQ-QIHAA MINKA BURHAANAA

And elevate her soul to towards You and direct Your Guidance to her.

اللّهُمَّ عَفْوَكَ عَفْوَكَ

AL-LAAHUM-MA 'AFWAKA 'AFWAK

O Allah! I seek Your Forgiveness, Your Forgiveness
