Imam Ali (a.s.) used to recite before asking for favours

یَا مَنْ ہُوَ اَقْرَبُ اِلَیَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِیْدِ یَا مَنْ ہُوَ فَعَّالًا لِمَا یُرِیْدُ یَا مَنْ یَحُوْلُ بَیْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَ قَلْبِہٖ یَا مَنْ ہُوَ بِالْمَنْظَرِ الْاَعْلٰی یَا مَنْ لَیْسَ کَمِثْلِہٖ شَیْءٌ.

Yaa Man Howa Aqrabo Elayya Min Hablil Wareede Yaa Man Howa Fa’-A’alan Lemaa Yoreedo Yaa Man Yahoolo Baynal Mar-E Wa Qalbehi Yaa Man Howa Bil-Manzaril A-A’laa Yaa Man Laysa Kamislehi Shay-Un.

O You Who are closer to me than my jugular veins! O the One Who does without fail as He wishes! O the One Who stands between a man and his heart! O the One Who is on a high position! O the One like Whom is no creature!
