In his book of al-Kalim al-Tayyib, Sayyid `Ali Khan says, “The following is a form of seeking aid petition from The Argument of Allah and the Patron of the Age (Imam al-Mahdi)—peace be upon him:
Wherever you are, you may take ghusl ,offer a two-unit prayer,(beneath the sky). reciting Surah al-Fatihah and any other sura in each unit. Yet, it is preferable to read Surah al-Fath (No. 48) in the first unit and Surah al-Nasr (No. 110) in the second. You may then stand up, facing the kiblah direction under the sky and then say this dua.. Salaamullah al-Kaamel…
Signifance of this Dua
Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) narrates from the author of Qabs al-Misbaah who writes, ‘I heard Shaykh Abu Abdillah al-Husain Ibn al-Hasan Ibn Babwayh (r.a.)(Shaykh al-Saduq (a.r.)) at Rayy near tehran in the year 440 A.H. narrate from his uncle Abu Ja’far Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn Babwayh (r.a.)3, ‘One of my teachers from Qum reported, “I was afflicted with a terrible tragedy which made my condition miserable but I felt uncomfortable to let anybody else know about it from my family or friends.
I slept in this state of grief when I dreamt that a handsome man, well dressed and perfumed. His traits were like some of our teachers from Qum from whom I used to study.
I said to myself, ‘Till when will I endure my hardships and afflictions and not let anyone from my brothers know about it? This man is from my teachers and I should mention my problem to him. Perhaps he may solve it for me.
He initiated the conversation with me saying, ‘Return to your path towards Allah, the High, seek help from Saaheb al-Zaman (a.t.f.s.) and take him as your refuge. For surely, he is the best of helpers and a protection for his believing friends.’
Thereafter, he caught his right hand and said, ‘See him, salute him and ask him to intercede on your behalf from Allah, the High, in the fulfillment of your needs.’
I said, ‘Teach me how I should say it because my grief has made me forget all the Ziyarat and Supplications.
He heaved a deep sigh and said, ‘There is no power or strength but through Allah.’ Then he touched my chest with his hand and remarked, ‘Allah will suffice for you and no evil will befall you. Purify yourself and perform two units of prayers. Then stand up, facing the Qiblah, beneath the sky and say the dua.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

bis-millahir-rahmanir-rahim

In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate

سَلَامُ اللّٰهِ الْكَامِلُ التَّآمُّ

salamu allahi alkamilu alttammu

Peace of Allah—perfect, complete,

[00:31.00]

الشَّامِلُ الْعَآمُّ

alshshamilu al`ammu

comprehensive, and thorough;

[00:36.00]

وَ صَلَوَاتُهُ الدَّاۤئِمَةُ

wa salawatuhu aldda'imatu

and His endless benedictions

[00:39.00]

وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ الْقَاۤئِمَةُ التَّآمَّةُ

wa barakatuhu alqa'imatu alttammatu

and His everlasting, perfect blessings

عَلٰى حُجَّةِ اللّٰهِ

`ala hujjati allahi

be upon the Argument of Allah,

[00:49.00]

وَ وَلِيِّهِ فِيْۤ اَرْضِهِ وَ بِلَادِهِ

wa waliyyihi fi ardihi wa biladihi

His representative in His lands and realm,

[00:57.00]

وَ خَلِيْفَتِهِ عَلٰى خَلْقِهِ وَ عِبَادِهِ

wa khalifatihi `ala khalqihi wa `ibadihi

His viceroy among His creatures and servants,

[01:04.00]

وَ سُلَالَةِ النُّبُوَّةِ

wa sulalati alnnubuwwati

the offspring of Prophethood,

[01:07.00]

وَ بَقِيَّةِ الْعِتْرَةِ وَ الصَّفْوَةِ

wa baqiyyati al`itrati walssafwati

the completion of the (Holy) Progeny and the Choice Ones,

[01:13.00]

صَاحِبِ الزَّمَانِ

sahibi alzzamani

the Patron of the Age,

[01:19.00]

وَ مُظْهِرِ الْاِيْمَانِ

wa muzhiri al-imani

the demonstrator of the (true) faith,

[01:24.00]

وَ مُلَقِّنِ [مُعْلِنِ‏] اَحْكَامِ الْقُرْاٰنِ

wa mulaqqini ahkami alqur'ani

the teacher of the laws of the Qur’an,

[01:31.00]

وَ مُطَهِّرِ الْاَرْضِ

wa mutahhiri al-ardi

the purger of the earth,

[01:35.00]

وَ نَاشِرِ الْعَدْلِ فِيْ الطُّوْلِ وَ الْعَرْضِ

wa nashiri al`adli fi alttuli wal`ardi

the spreader of justice all over the earth,

[01:41.00]

وَ الْحُجَّةِ الْقَاۤئِمِ الْمَهْدِيِّ

walhujjati alqa'imi almahdiyyi

the Argument (al-Hujjah), the Riser (al-Qa’im), the Well-guided (al-Mahdi),

[01:48.00]

الْاِمَامِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ الْمَرْضِيِّ [الْمُرْتَضٰى‏

al-imami almuntazari almardiyyi

the Leader, the Awaited, the Pleased,

[01:53.00]

وَ ابْنِ الْاَئِمَّةِ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

wabni al-a'immati alttahirina

the descendant of the Infallible Imams,

[01:59.00]

اَلْوَصِيِّ ابْنِ الْاَوْصِيَاۤءِ الْمَرْضِيِّيْنَ

alwasiyyi ibni al-awsiya'i almardiyyina

the Successor, the son of the Pleased Successors (of the Prophets),

[02:05.00]

اَلْهَادِيْ الْمَعْصُوْمِ

alhadi alma`sumi

the Guide, the Immaculate,

[02:08.00]

ابْنِ الْاَئِمَّةِ الْهُدَاةِ الْمَعْصُوْمِيْنَ

ibni al-a'immati alhudati alma`sumina

and the son of the Imams—the guides and immaculate.

[02:15.00]

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُعِزَّ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِيْنَ

alssalamu `alayka ya mu`izza almu'minina almustad`afina

Peace be upon you, O grantor of dignity to the oppressed and faithful ones.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُذِلَّ الْكَافِرِيْنَ الْمُتَكَبِّرِيْنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ،

alssalamu `alayka ya mudhilla alkafirina almutakabbirina alzzalimina

Peace be upon you, O humiliator of the arrogant and oppressing unbelievers.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا صَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya ya sahiba alzzamani

Peace be upon you, O my master, the Patron of the Age.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

[03:00.00]

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Believers.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَاۤءِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna fatimata alzzahra'i

Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah the Luminous

[03:14.00]

سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاۤءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

and the Doyenne of the women of the world.

[03:20.00]

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ الْاَئِمَّةِ الْحُجَجِ الْمَعْصُوْمِيْنَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna al-a'immati alhujaji alma`sumina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Imams—the arguments (of Allah) and Immaculate

[03:29.00]

وَ الْاِمَامِ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

wal-imamu `ala alkhalqi ajma`ina

and the leader of all creatures.

[03:35.00]

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya

Peace be upon you, O my master

[03:41.00]

سَلَامَ مُخْلِصٍ لَكَ فِيْ الْوِلَايَةِ

salama mukhlisin laka fi alwilayati

addressed by him who is loyal to your (divinely commissioned) leadership.

[03:46.00]

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ الْاِمَامُ الْمَهْدِيُّ قَوْلًا وَ فِعْلًا

ash-hadu annaka al-imamu almahdiyyu qawlan wa fi`lan

I bear witness that you are the well-guided Imam in word and deed,

[03:56.00]

وَ اَنْتَ الَّذِيْ تَمْلَاُ الْاَرْضَ قِسْطًا وَ عَدْلًا

wa anta alladhi tamla'u al-arda qistan wa `adlan

it is you who shall fill the earth with justice and impartiality

[04:05.00]

بَعْدَ مَا مُلِئَتْ ظُلْمًا وَ جَوْرًا

ba`dama muli'at zulman wa jawran

after it will be filled with wrong and partiality.

[04:13.00]

فَعَجَّلَ اللهُ فَرَجَكَ

fa`ajjala allahu farajaka

So, may Allah hasten your reappearance,

[04:19.00]

وَ سَهَّلَ مَخْرَجَكَ،

wa sahhala makhrajaka

make easy your advent,

[04:23.00]

وَ قَرَّبَ زَمَانَكَ

wa qarraba zamanaka

make nearer the time of your coming,

[04:27.00]

وَ كَثَّرَ اَنْصَارَكَ وَ اَعْوَانَكَ

wa kaththara ansaraka wa a`wanaka

increase the number of your supporters and backers,

[04:34.00]

وَ اَنْجَزَ لَكَ مَا وَعَدَكَ

wa anjaza laka ma wa `adaka

and fulfill for you all that which He has promised you.

[04:37.00]

فَهُوَ اَصْدَقُ الْقَاۤئِلِيْنَ

fahuwa asdaqu alqa'ilina

He is surely the most truthful of all those who can speak (and He has said):

[04:43.00]

وَ نُرِيْدُ اَنْ نَمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا فِيْ الْاَرْضِ

wa nuridu an namunna `ala alladhina istud`ifu fi al-ardi

“We desired to bestow a favor upon those who were deemed weak in the land,

[04:51.00]

وَ نَجْعَلَهُمْ اَئِمَّةً وَ نَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِيْنَ

wa naj`alahum a'immatan wa naj`alahumu alwarithina

make them the Imams, and make them the heirs.”

[04:58.00]

يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا صَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ

ya mawlaya ya sahiba alzzamani

O my master! O Patron of the Age!

[05:10.00]

يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ

yabna rasuli allahi

O son of Allah’s Messenger!

[05:15.00]

حَاجَتِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا۔

Hajati…

My request is...

[05:20.00]

فَاشْفَعْ لِيْ فِيْ نَجَاحِهَا

fashfa` li fi najahiha

So, intercede for me so that it will be settled,

Mention your need and then go on saying:

[05:24.00]

فَقَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ اِلَيْكَ بِحَاجَتِيْ

faqad tawajjahtu ilayka bihajati

for I am turning my face towards you for settling my request,

[05:30.00]

لِعِلْمِيْۤ اَنَّ لَكَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ شَفَاعَةً مَقْبُوْلَةً

li`ilmi anna laka `inda allahi shafa`atan maqbulatan

since I know for sure that you enjoy with Allah admissible word of intercession,

[05:39.00]

وَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُوْدًا

wa maqaman mahmudan

and praiseworthy standing.

[05:44.00]

فَبِحَقِّ مَنِ اخْتَصَّكُمْ بِاَمْرِهِ

fabihaqqi man ikhtassakum bi-amrihi

So, I ask you in the name of Him Who granted you (i.e. the Ahl al-Bayt) exclusively the right of representing Him,

[05:50.00]

وَ ارْتَضَاكُمْ لِسِرِّهِ

wartadakum lisirrihi

and admitted you all to keep His secrets,

[05:55.00]

وَ بِالشَّأْنِ الَّذِيْ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ بَيْنَكُمْ وَ بَيْنَهُ

wa bilshsha'ni alladhi lakum `inda allahi baynakum wa baynahu

and I ask you in the name of the standing that you exclusively enjoy with Allah,

[06:04.00]

سَلِ اللهَ تَعَالٰى فِيْ نُجْحِ طَلِبَتِيْ

sal(i) allaha ta`ala fi nujhi talibati

to ask Allah, the Exalted, to render successful my request,

[06:12.00]

وَ اِجَابَةِ دَعْوَتِيْ

wa ijabati da`wati

to answer my prayer,

[06:17.00]

وَ كَشْفِ كُرْبَتِيْ۔

wa kashfi kurbati

and to relieve my grief.

[06:25.00]

You may then ask for whatever you want, and it will be settled for you, by Allah’s permission.
